Mo Brooks: Joe Biden's America Gives Illegal Aliens Stimulus Checks While Veterans Struggle to Get Benefits

April 14, 2021 by John Binder Leave a Comment

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), running for the United States Senate, says “Joe Biden’s America” includes stimulus checks for illegal aliens as American veterans struggle to get their benefits.

As Breitbart News has reported, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) and state Democrats have struck a budget deal that includes $2.1 billion in taxpayer funding to provide unemployment benefits and stimulus checks to nearly 300,000 illegal aliens.

Illegal aliens who will be eligible for the one-time payment could receive up to $15,600, the equivalent of about $300 a week for one year.

Brooks wrote in a statement online this week that the plan embodies “Joe Biden’s America,” while American Veterans are reportedly struggling to access their earned benefits due to a records backlog.

“U.S. military veterans are struggling to get the benefits they earned serving our country, but New York is sending $15K checks to illegal aliens,” Brooks wrote. “It’s shameful, but not surprising in Joe Biden’s America.”

— Mo Brooks (@RepMoBrooks) April 13, 2021

In one case, detailed by WTVY News 4, 74 -year-old Vietnam Veteran Jack Hoaglan — who passed away after contracting coronavirus — was unable to receive a funeral with his military honors as a result of the records backlog. The backlog means there are about 500,000 American military families waiting for their benefits after putting in requests.

“We asked [our veterans] to do the ultimate and we can’t even get them their basic benefits?” Hoaglan’s wife, Melissa, told the local network.

New York’s taxpayer-funded payments to illegal aliens are one of the largest funded programs in the state’s budget. For example, the emergency rental assistance program is receiving just $300 million more than the illegal alien fund, while homeowner assistance is being funded to the tune of $600 million, about $1.5 billion less than the illegal alien fund.

New York to Give $15.6K to Illegal Aliens After Joe Biden's Blue State Bailout

April 12, 2021 by Wendell Husebo Leave a Comment

New York State will hand out up to $15,600 to illegal aliens after the federal government bailed out blue states with President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion spending plan in March.

The $15,600 funds could be given to some 290,000 illegal aliens totaling $2.1 billion in taxpayer-funded benefits due to job loss during the Chinese coronavirus pandemic. The fund is a part of a $212 billion deal agreed upon Tuesday by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D).

Specifically, illegal aliens “could receive up to $15,600, the equivalent of $300 per week for the last year, if they can verify that they were state residents, ineligible for federal unemployment benefits and lost income as a result of the pandemic,” the New York Times reported, adding that if illegals “can prove at least their residency and identity, and provide some work documentation,” they may be granted a lower amount of around $3,200.

The initiative has not been well received by Republicans. Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT) said Monday he is introducing legislation to block any of the $1.9 trillion infrastructure related money from going towards illegal immigrants. “It’s outrageous that while millions of American workers are still hurting, and in the midst of a border crisis created by President Biden, that we have states handing out taxpayer dollars to illegal immigrants,” the Montana Senator wrote.

“We should not be rewarding Biden’s open border policies by creating incentives for people to cross our border illegally. That’s why I’m introducing a bill to stop taxpayer dollars from going to any state that is providing payments to illegal immigrants,” he also said before adding, “Americans should always come first.”

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) also has joined Daines by suggesting, “Why are taxes high in New York? So the government can pay illegal immigrants up to $15,600. In New York, it pays to break the law.”

New York’s plan comes after President Joe Biden sent $350 billion of American citizens’ tax dollars to bailout blue states in March, when Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said of the money his state would receive, “So many of the people affected by this bill are not liberals or Democrats. They may be Republicans, they may be independents, they may be conservatives. But they’re Americans who want some help to get out of this morass.”

The $350 billion distribution is divvied with $95.3 billion going to states, while $169 billion was distributed based on a state’s share of total unemployed workers. $130.2 billion has gone to local counties and cities, using a formula that aims funds to the neediest municipalities.

In any event, the text of New York’s spending legislation also says it will verify illegal aliens for proof of eligibility. The documents include letters from an employer, driver’s licenses, state-issued identification cards, utility bills, birth certificates, bank statements, school transcripts, pay stubs, wage statements, wage notices, and W-2 or 1099 tax forms.

Breitbart News’s John Binder reported “more than a million jobs have been lost in New York and an estimated 80,000 New York businesses may not make it to the end of the Chinese coronavirus pandemic.”

House Republicans Call for Investigation of Potential Taxpayer-Funded Benefits for Illegals in New York

April 9, 2021 by Sean Moran Leave a Comment

Reps. Jason Smith (R-MO) and James Comer (R-KY) called Friday for an investigation over concerns the state of New York may be funneling federal tax dollars to benefit illegal aliens.

Cuomo, along with New York state Democrats, negotiated a $2.1 billion fund that would allow 187,000 illegal aliens and 87,00 felons to potentially receive taxpayer-funded unemployment benefits that mirror state and federal benefits. The fund came as the result of the Democrats’ $1.9 trillion coronavirus package, the American Rescue Plan.

Comer, the ranking member of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, and Jason Smith, the ranking member of the House Budget Committee, noted that the payments to illegal immigrants and the funding New York received through the coronavirus package raise concerning questions. They wrote:

The $2.1 billion price tag of this fund is quite peculiar. The $1.9 trillion spending plan enacted last month allocated monetary relief to states using a new biased formula that resulted in New York, and other states run by Democrat officials, receiving disproportionately more aid than in previous coronavirus relief bills…Coincidentally, the amount of additional federal dollars New York appears to be receiving because of the change in the funding distribution formula is exactly the same as this new fund for illegal immigrants – $2.1 billion.

Comer and Smith also noted that the $1.9 trillion coronavirus bill made it more difficult for states to provide tax relief to their citizens than it allowed for federal tax dollars to illegal aliens. They wrote:

Unfortunately, the $1.9 trillion spending bill included language prohibiting states from using these funds to offset tax relief they might wish to provide their citizens. However, despite concerns raised by Congressional Republicans, it did not explicitly limit the potential use of American taxpayer dollars to prioritize illegal immigrants over American families.

“It now appears that New York is using its state budget, recently bolstered with billions in federal dollars, to funnel money to illegal immigrants,” they wrote.

Exclusive — Rep. Lee Zeldin on Gubernatorial Campaign: 'We Are Due for a Big Correction to Save' New York from 'One-Party Democrat Rule'

April 9, 2021 by Robert Kraychik Leave a Comment

New York must be saved from “one-party Democrat rule,” Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY), who is running for governor of the Empire State, said on Friday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow, author of Breaking the News: Exposing the Establishment Media’s Hidden Deals and Secret Corruption.

Zeldin remarked, “Not only is there a Democrat in the White House — and this [comes with] terrible consequences on the policy front — but as you look at November 2022, for the first time in my life, it’s one-party Democrat rule in New York City, Albany, and D.C., and in Albany, it’s Democratic supermajorities now in the Assembly and Senate. We are due for a big correction to save our state and our country.”

The congressman from New York announced his gubernatorial campaign on Thursday:

LISTEN:

In February, Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s (D-NY) top aide admitted the governor’s office withheld the number of deaths related to the coronavirus in New York’s nursing homes to shield the Cuomo government from federal investigation and political scrutiny.

Zeldin highlighted Cuomo’s mendacity in terms of the governor’s policies regarding nursing homes and the coronavirus as an example of poor character.

“The [nursing home] cover-up, the abuse, the harassment, the intimidation is a reason that you’re now having a whole lot of Democrats talking about how [Cuomo] needs to resign [and] how he should be impeached,” he stated.

Cuomo is politically weakened given the New York state legislature’s impeachment investigation against him, determined Zeldin.

Zeldin said, “[Cuomo] is under multiple investigations. There is a very weakened state of the governor, right now, that is leading to even worse policies getting passed in Albany because he has an inability to fight back. This Assembly has the leverage over him because they have the impeachment investigation on top of it all that’s being launched, right now.”

Zeldin listed a recent income tax increase in New York as an example of damaging Democrat policies compelling an exodus of Empire State residents to other states.

He stated, “It’s a terrible idea. It’s divorced from reality. The geniuses in Albany create the highest income tax rate in the entire country [as] people are more mobile than ever, and when they leave because you raise their taxes, you’ve essentially lowered their tax rate to zero in New York because they’re gone.”

He continued, “Why did they do it? To pay for a new multibillion-dollar fund for people who are not legally in the country — bad idea — it only makes matters worse here in New York. The spending is out of control. They’re going to just keep pursuing more tax hikes with this Democratic supermajority in the Assembly [with] a very weakened governor.”

“On the character front, Andrew Cuomo’s had a bad reputation,” Zeldin added, referring to allegations of sexual harassment against the New York governor. “He’s engaged in problematic behavior similar to what we’re talking about, right now, not only since the beginning of his time as governor, but this was his reputation when his father was the governor. This is a long time coming. New Yorkers are just starting to hear about it for the first time.”

Breitbart News Daily broadcasts live on SiriusXM Patriot 125 weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Eastern.

Andrew Giuliani, son of Rudy Giuliani, plans to challenge Cuomo for NY governor

April 7, 2021 by Phil Shiver Leave a Comment

Andrew Giuliani, a former top aide to President Donald Trump and the son of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, is reportedly “heavily considering” challenging Andrew Cuomo for New York’s governorship in 2022.

“I plan to run,” the 35-year-old Republican told the Washington Examiner on Wednesday, adding that “outside of anybody named Trump,” he thinks he has “the best chance to win and take the state back.”

“I think there’s an opportunity in 2022 with a wounded Democratic candidate, whether it’s going to be Gov. Cuomo, whether it’s going to be a radical [New York Attorney General] Letitia James, whether it’s going to be a no-name lieutenant governor, I think there’s a very, very real chance to win,” he suggested.

The current executive head, embattled Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, is expected to run for a fourth term despite mounting criticism for his mishandling of the coronavirus pandemic and numerous ongoing sexual harassment scandals.

The governor is currently under fire for his implementation of a deadly policy early in the pandemic that forced nursing homes to accept COVID-positive patients returning from the hospital, and also for his potential cover-up of the resulting deaths. Moreover, in recent months, Cuomo’s political problems have worsened, as multiple women, including current and former state employees, have come forward accusing him of sexual harassment and inappropriate conduct.

Giuliani believes the Democratic governor’s cratering approval rating may offer a window for a Republican with a prominent name to snag victory in the deep blue state.

“I believe I can win the race,” said the former special assistant to Trump. “I think I’m the right candidate, and this is the right time to help change New York State, and we’ve got a playbook that works.”

“Whoever ends up winning is going to have to implement the Giuliani playbook on public safety, so who better to do that than a Giuliani?” he added.

Giuliani’s potential run has reportedly been fueled by encouragement from several big donors and Republican allies.

The Examiner reported that Giuliani hopes to “challenge Cuomo’s handling of crime, taxes, education, and the mutiny of New Yorkers from the state.”

“New York is going to be one of two states over the last decade to lose population. It just shows how terribly Cuomo has run the state into the ground, and the truth is the assembly in state Senate is to blame as well,” he said. “It’s a combination of bail reform, increased taxes, and plummeting quality of life. So I think people will have to determine whether I am, you know, Giuliani 2.0 or whether I’m a new thing. I look forward to making my case and letting New Yorkers determine that for themselves.”
