Bodycam video: Florida man dressed as a cat stabbed roommate in the neck, police say

A Florida man dressed as a cat stabbed his roommate in the neck, according to police. The victim was seriously injured from the knife attack.

Around 5:45 p.m. on May 23, deputies with the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance at a home in North Gainesville, Florida. A man contacted 911 to report that his roommate had stabbed him in the neck.

Police bodycam video shows two officers arrive at the home with guns drawn. The deputies are forced to kick down the front door after there was no response from anyone inside the house.

Bodycam footage shows the victim exiting the home with a severe stab wound. One of the officers noted that the wounded man was “seriously bleeding from the neck.” The bloodied victim, who was not identified, was rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment.

After about two minutes, the suspect surrendered with his arms in the air. The suspect was wearing a full-body cat costume that had a feline-looking hood.

Deputies arrested the suspect without incident.

Omar Gutierrez, 32, was charged with attempted murder. He is being held at the Alachua County Jail on a $1 million bond.

“Our sheriff and the many members of this team commend these deputies for their lifesaving acts as they stopped at nothing to ensure that the victim was treated and that the suspect in this incident was apprehended,” Alachua County Sheriff’s Office captain Chris Sims said.

WCJB-TV reported, “When detectives spoke with the victim in the hospital, he explained that Gutierrez said a week earlier he was ‘not above killing’ the victim. Gutierrez claimed the roommate hurt his cat, which he denies.”

The victim allegedly asked Gutierrez why he plunged a knife into the back of his neck, and he responded, “It was instinctual.”

The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office quipped, “We exchanged Gutierrez’s cat costume for a green and white striped jumpsuit.”

Bodycam video shows the harrowing moment police confront a New Mexico teen over the discovery of her baby that was found dead in a hospital trash can. Authorities suspect the teen of killing her newborn baby in a hospital bathroom, and she has since been charged with murder.

Alexee Trevizo, 19, was charged last week with willful and deliberate first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. The charges stem from the tragic death of the young woman’s newborn baby that was found lifeless in a hospital trash can.

On Jan. 27, Trevizo was taken to the Artesia General Hospital Emergency Room after she complained of lower back pain.

The teen told medical professionals that she was not pregnant. The hospital staff suspected the teen of being pregnant and ran some tests. The teen allegedly denied that she had sex; however, tests determined that Trevizo was pregnant.

Trevizo allegedly locked herself in a hospital bathroom for approximately 20 minutes. When Trevizo finally opened the door, hospital staff found “blood and s**t everywhere,” according to an unnamed doctor interviewed by police as seen in bodycam video taken by the Artesia Police Department.

A hospital custodian was cleaning the bathroom and noticed the trash bag was heavy. She purportedly looked inside and found the body of a dead baby.

According to police, the teen delivered the baby while in the restroom and then placed the newborn in a garbage bag.

“She put the baby in the trash can and then another clean liner over the top of it,” the doctor told police.

“The baby is dead,” the doctor said. “She killed the kid.”

“She had it in the bathroom is what happened and then whatever she did, I don’t know — she’s going to lie,” he continued. “She wouldn’t tell us she’s pregnant, she’s been lying the whole time.”

The shocking police bodycam footage shows the moment that an officer informs Trevizo and her mother that a full-term newborn was found dead in a trash can.

Trevizo’s mother is shocked to learn that her daughter was 9 months pregnant.

“Lexee, I told you about this,” her mother exclaimed. “I just asked you, baby, to tell me the truth.”

The mother scolds her daughter, “Lexee, have you watched the news about what the girls do to their babies and they go to jail?”

Alexee claimed that the baby didn’t cry when it was born.

“I’m sorry. It came out of me and I didn’t know what to do,” she pleaded.

However, the Office of the Medical Investigator of New Mexico performed an autopsy of the newborn and determined the manner of death to be a homicide.

Trevizo’s attorney, Gary Mitchell, proclaimed that his client has no criminal record and the murder charge is too harsh.

“I have serious problems with the charge in this case which is first-degree murder. You can bet your life we’re going to defend this tenaciously,” Mitchell declared.

Trevizo has pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.

Nerve-racking bodycam video shows cop clinging to runaway car during wild police chase

A newly released police bodycam video shows the nerve-racking moment when an officer from Iowa was clinging to the roof of a car driven by a wanted man during a high-speed chase.

The Carroll Police Department released gripping bodycam video this week of a routine traffic stop that resulted in a cop being flung from the roof of a runaway vehicle.

Around 1 p.m. on March 5, 2021, Carroll police officer Patrick McCarty stopped a vehicle with a female driver and a male passenger. The officer discovered that the passenger, Dennis Guider Jr., had a warrant out for his arrest for forgery in Illinois.

“I hate to be the one to tell you this, but it sounds like you’ve got a warrant out of Illinois,” McCarty is heard saying in the video.

The officer asked Guider to step out of the car, but he refused. Instead, he shoved the female out of the vehicle, slid into the driver’s seat, and attempted a brazen escape attempt. McCarty stepped in front of the car, drew his firearm, and instructed Guider to “stop the f***ing car!”

Guider continued to accelerate toward the police officer, at which point McCarty stepped on the hood of the car.

Heart-stopping dashcam footage from a police cruiser captured the wild scene of the officer on his knees, riding on the hood of the moving vehicle with his gun pointed at the windshield.

A police SUV attempted to nudge the fugitive’s vehicle off the road, but Guider hit the gas and sped away. After the vehicle started accelerating at a high speed, McCarty was forced to drop his firearm and retreat to the roof of the car, where he tried to hold on for dear life. During the police chase, the vehicle quickly reached speeds of more than 50 mph.

Dramatic dashcam video shows McCarty clinging to the roof of the car as the chase went from the road to a dirt surface behind an industrial building. Suddenly, the car careened into a ditch. The impact caused McCarty to be thrown from the vehicle. The police officer smashed to the ground, breaking McCarty’s back.

Despite breaking his back, McCarty told a fellow officer attempting to come to his aid, “I’m OK, man, go get him. I’m all right. Go get him.”

McCarty suffered broken vertebrae in his lower back, which took nearly a year to recover from fully.

The Des Moines Register reported, “The case was pending for nearly two years before Guider wrote to the clerk of court in February. He said he was incarcerated at an Illinois prison and wanted to ‘take care of my case matter right away.'”

In a letter to the Carroll County clerk, the 29-year-old native of Chicago Heights in Illinois claimed, “I feared for my life after the officer pull[ed] out his gun and jump[ed] on the hood of my car.”

In March, Guider pleaded guilty to serious injury by vehicle, a felony. This week, he was sentenced to a maximum of five years in prison.
