Rachel Dolezal Attends Katie Hobbs’ Hair Discrimination Ban Executive Order Signing

March 19, 2023 by Nick Arama Leave a Comment

On Friday, Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs signed an executive order banning racial discrimination by state employees and contractors based on a person’s hair. Among the people invited were officials from various local black advocacy groups will join her, representatives from the African American Museum of Southern Arizona, Black Mother’s Forum, and the Phoenix chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women.

Perhaps the surprise of the signing was the appearance of Nkechi Amare Diallo, otherwise known as Rachel Dolezal. Dolezal changed her name in 2017 because she said that she couldn’t get a job with her real name since she was exposed for being white and pretending to be black. Nkechi is a West African name meaning “gift of God.” So she’s effectively been doubling down even with the name.

But she’s also using the Dolezal name on her Twitter and on her podcast (yes, she has a podcast). So her real name is something she’s still using and thinks is helpful for attention and viewers.

Dolezal bragged about being at the Hobbs event and posted pictures.

Today, AZ Gov Hobbs signed The CROWN Act. Great job, Arizona, AAMSAZ, & everyone who has fought to get this passed. CROWN stands for Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural hair. This legislation seeks to end centuries of hair discrimination across the U.S. #CROWNAct pic.twitter.com/UFqzhEyfGW

— Rachel Doležal (@DialloNkechi) March 18, 2023

It’s also perhaps more than a little ironic when Dolezal is talking about “natural hair” when her natural hair is straight and blonde, as some pointed out on social media.

A video producer for 12 News confirmed that she was there and included a video.

One surprise appearance at @katiehobbs’ #CROWNAct signing, Nkechi Amare Diallo, formerly known as #RachelDolezal who gained popularity for her controversial trans-racial identity. pic.twitter.com/H8TRszYWoF

— Kyra Trent (@KyraTrent) March 17, 2023

The Arizona Independent also reported that she was there.

The Republican Majority Leader in the Arizona House of Representatives then asked when did “trans-racial” become a thing?

OK when did being trans-racial become a thing?! This is getting ridiculous. https://t.co/3ddUFYfEJJ https://t.co/WKb6G8zLsB

— Rep. Leo Biasiucci (@Leo4AzHouse) March 18, 2023

My colleague Kira Davis wrote a great piece almost six years ago on how some “trans” people seem to be okay to the left and others, like Dolezal, not so much, that it doesn’t make a lot of sense.

I’m not sure how Dolezal got there or whether she was invited. Usually, people are to such events. But who the heck would think that was a good idea or were they taken in by the new name? That says a lot for the ability of Hobbs and her staff right there.

Of course, Hobbs didn’t exactly show either courage or competence in her run for governor, hiding and refusing to debate her opponent Kari Lake. It was the Joe Biden approach of hiding in the basement. She also came under fire for racial discrimination herself in the case of the retaliatory firing of Talonya Adams.

An African-American policy adviser who won a multimillion-dollar jury award for racial and sex discrimination by the Arizona State Senate blames her former boss – Democratic Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs – for her firing.

“This was Katie Hobbs’ decision,” Talonya Adams said in an interview. “I think she’s always been very uncomfortable with minorities. She seems wholly disconnected from people of color.”

But meanwhile, while Hobbs is keeping company with Dolezal, she is of course ignoring the major issue in her state — securing the border and ensuring the safety of the people of Arizona, not to mention the rest of the country. That isn’t high up on her list of priorities.

Democrat Senator Who Asked for Government Censorship Over Bank Collapses Gets Exposed

March 13, 2023 by Bonchie Leave a Comment

A recent conference call involving congressional members from both parties got a little weird after a Democrat senator asked whether the federal government could censor information on social media to prevent a run on US banks. The call, which was held with Biden administration officials (Federal Reserve, Treasury Department, and FDIC), was a question-and-answer session covering the recent collapse of the Silicon Valley Bank.

Rep. Thomas Massie first revealed the concerning question immediately after the call, and now, we know who asked it. According to Michael Shellenberger (most recently of Twitter Files fame), it was Sen. Mark Kelly, the recently re-elected Democrat from Arizona.

During a conference call about the Silicon Valley Bank bailout yesterday, Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) asked representatives from the Federal Reserve, Treasury Department, and the Federal Deposit and Insurance Corporation (FDIC) if they had a way to censor information on social media to prevent a run on the banks, according to Republican members of the House of Representatives who were on the call.

The members said there were roughly 200 people on the Zoom call, including Senators, House members, and staff members from both parties. “On our conference call, led by [Senate President Chuck] Schumer, with Fed, FDIC, and Treasury, a democrat senator asked the three agencies if there was a program underway on social media to censor information that would lead to a bank run,” Rep. Thomas Massie told Public.

“I believe he couched it in a concern that foreign actors would be doing this,” said Massie, “but he didn’t suggest the censorship should be limited to foreigners or to things that were untrue. The people from the three agencies couldn’t answer him and just sort of took a pass on the question.”

Kelly is a former astronaut, so I don’t believe he’s stupid. Still, I’m at a loss as to what he was thinking when he asked that question of the Biden officials on the call. Why would the federal government, under any circumstance, have the ability to directly censor information on social media? Even with the recent revelations of the Twitter Files, the censorship was done by proxy through government pressure.

Massie offered further context, saying that Kelly may have meant his question in the context of foreign actors. But should that matter? If the government can censor information on a whim, even under the guise of pushing back on foreign interference, that is a power that will undoubtedly be abused. We have ample evidence of that given the FBI’s involvement in the censorship of the Hunter Biden story, which was not foreign disinformation.

The Democratic Party’s flirtation with tyranny should concern everyone. It’s no longer just the domain of the fringe. Mainline, even “moderate” Democrats are now suggesting that the government should have total power over online speech, making decisions on censorship without any due process or constitutional authority. That they justify such with yet more rantings about foreign interference only makes it worse. If you can justify censorship of information by blaming American adversaries, then you can justify censorship of just about anything. There is no limiting principle.

Kelly should take a step back and think about what he’s asking for and whether he truly understands the ramifications. Further, Arizonans should seriously contemplate the caliber of the elected officials they’ve been electing recently. Kelly is an empty suit at best, never mind the election of now-Gov. Katie Hobbs. The republic can’t last if the federal government becomes as all-powerful as Democrats obviously want it to become.

Play Ball! 2023 World Baseball Classic Proves to Be All Kinds of Wacky

March 11, 2023 by Becca Lower Leave a Comment

The 2023 World Baseball Classic is true to its name, with celebrations of what used to be called “America’s Pastime” taking place in several international locations this weekend. It’s hard not to get swept up in the love of our great game being displayed by fans and players from countries worldwide.

One of the locations for the Classic is Taiwan, where the home team faced off against Team Italy on Friday night. And it wouldn’t be an understatement to say things were getting all kinds of wacky.

In most Major League dugouts, you expect to see bags of sunflower seeds, maybe some paper cups filled with Gatorade. But the Italian team has something unique to help them feel at home: espresso:

Check out the Taiwanese fans going wild at the same game:

(Taiwan ended up beating Italy in the contest, winning by a score of 11-7.)

Also among the teams playing in Taiwan is the curiously named Taipei of China, along with Team Cuba:

If you’d like to keep up on more wacky shenanigans, one of the games happening in Phoenix (inside Chase Field, the home of the Arizona Diamondbacks) on Saturday is Mexico vs. Columbia, which is airing nationally on Fox and tied up at 3-3 (at the time of this writing). Here’s the last big play, with current Tampa Bay Ray and Team Mexico player, Randy Arozarena hitting a homer to tie the game at 3-3.

Study claims AZ gun laws responsible for police shootings

March 9, 2023 by Tom Knighton Leave a Comment

The state of Arizona may not be thought of as being as pro-gun as some other places, but they aren’t exactly known for a proliferation of gun laws, either.

In fact, at least for a while, they’re one of the most pro-gun states with regard to firearm regulation.

That is a problem for some people, and those people absolutely love a new study that links the state’s lax gun laws with officer-involved shootings.

The study, to be released Thursday, comes as the Phoenix Police Department has been involved in nine shootings since the start of the year. Of those, seven suspects died on scene.

“It’s not just a Phoenix thing. It’s an Arizona thing,” said Will Humble, former Arizona public health director who commissioned the study.

The recent spike in shootings can be attributed to the state’s gun laws, the study found. It ranked the strength of Arizona’s gun laws 42 out of the 50 states.

The study also concluded the Phoenix police department had the highest rate of police shootings among the ten largest U.S. cities from 2015 to 2021. Tucson and Mesa had similar rates, the report said.

Except, as the site reported, a number of those suspects were legally prohibited from having firearms in the first place.

The last time I checked, that was a federal gun control law and not one Arizona nullified somehow. How, then, does anyone figure that a lack of gun laws are the problem when gun control clearly failed in many of these cases?

Further, these are officer-involved shootings. That means that unless the cops were gunning down innocent people for no reason–and there’s nothing suggesting they are–these were people who were trying to shoot law enforcement officers.

Now, let me suggest something outlandish for a moment. I’m going to suggest that the very people who would break the law by trying to kill police officers are the kind of people who might just buy a gun illegally regardless of what laws you have on the books.

Yeah, I know. It’s a crazy idea. We know criminals to be awfully law-abiding and all that, but it kind of fits.

On a more serious note, though, we have the fact that this “study” has managed to make this leap, yet there are other potential factors as well. For example, we have studies that link high temperatures with violent crime. Arizona isn’t exactly known for its Minnesota-like weather, now is it?

If heat can lead to an increase in violence, then it stands to reason a hot state like Arizona might well see its police officers involved in more shootings than elsewhere.

Was that accounted for in the study? It doesn’t seem like it was, and that’s a huge problem.

Then again, we know one of the problems with gun research is that the methodologies are incredibly suspect, and that’s me being polite. This is just another example.

Especially since, as per usual with anti-gun research, correlation is once again presented as causation. It’s not and these supposed experts know this.

Female Border Patrol Agent Injured by Illegal Immigrant Highlights More of Biden’s Border Failures

March 6, 2023 by Jennifer Oliver OConnell Leave a Comment

The opinions expressed by contributors are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of RedState.com.

Female Border Patrol agents make up 14 percent of the agency workforce. Over an 11-year period, this has remained fairly static, only showing a one percentage point increase from 2010 to 2021. According to statistics, in terms of salary, female border patrol agents make $2,000 less than the men, and the remote postings away from family, especially their children, are part of the reasons why women choose not to take this on as a career choice. A good majority of illegal aliens are men and many are agents of the violent cartels, thus posing the risk of extreme violence to all agents, but especially the women. This was the case on Saturday when a female Border Patrol agent was assaulted while attempting to detain a man who crossed illegally over the border.

From Fox News:

An illegal immigrant violently assaulted a female border patrol agent while she was making an arrest, U.S. Customs and Border Protection sources say.

The agent, who remains unidentified, was taking a male illegal immigrant into custody on Saturday when he attacked her, injuring her face and arms, the CBP told Fox News Digital. The agent was able to struggle with the culprit until backup arrived, and the man was subdued.

She was obviously a badass to be able to fight him off, and she was fortunate that backup was close enough to contain the situation. Even when you sign up for such a situation, it is still a frightening ordeal.

“On March 4, 2023, at approximately 4:00 a.m., a U.S. Border Patrol agent assigned to the Tucson Sector took a subject into custody near Foudy Road and State Route 92, after investigating the subject’s illegal entry into the U.S. While being placed in a service vehicle, the subject assaulted the agent, injuring the agent’s face and hands. Additional agents responded and took the suspect into custody,” the CBP said in a statement.

“The assaulted agent was transported for medical treatment. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating the assault on a federal officer. The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office is also investigating,” the statement continued.

According to another recent Fox News interview, Cochise County Sheriff Mark Daniels has vowed to prosecute the illegal immigrant if the United States Department of Justice does not take up the case.

With the state of the U.S. DOJ these days, I am sure Sheriff Daniels is not holding his breath. In November 2022, 233,740 illegal aliens were detained along the southern border—the highest number of border crossings ever recorded for this month. Title 42 still hangs in the balance in a DHS system that is inept at keeping the border from being overrun, inundated, or combatting the increasing violence. Despite the dog and pony show President Biden made in visiting a safe and walled area of the southern border, his administration continues to obfuscate, derail, and deny culpability while refusing to take any concrete steps to mitigate the crisis in our midst.
