MSNBC Tries to Stoke Fears of Another J6 in Wake of Trump Arrest

March 18, 2023 by Becca Lower Leave a Comment

It’s been quite an end to the week already, hasn’t it, readers? First, on Friday night, we got word that law enforcement officials were preparing for the possibility of the Manhattan D.A.’s office filing an indictment again former president Donald Trump — including his arrest.

We also got a reaction from Trump himself, who hinted that the arrest might come next Tuesday and called for protests in their wake, as we reported earlier on Saturday.

Hard on the heels of Trump’s reaction was House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announcing in a tweet an investigation into the Manhattan D.A. abusing his power, along with seeking out how exactly this kind of political witch hunt is financed.

Here we go again — an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump.

I’m directing relevant committees to immediately investigate if federal funds are being used to subvert our democracy by… https://t.co/elpbh7LeWn

— Kevin McCarthy (@SpeakerMcCarthy) March 18, 2023

Adding to that, we were graced with the ramblings of former congresscritter Adam Kinzinger about Trump’s calls for protests, drawing a pathetic connection to the J6 Capitol riots, while writing in a tweet Saturday:

If there is violence when Trump is arrested, it will just prove to the skeptics who launched the violence on Jan 6… DJT Himself

It seems that just was a foreshadowing of what the left has on its mind. On Saturday morning, MSNBC trotted out the Democrats’ favorite historian and useful tool Michael Beschloss, to comment on Trump’s and McCarthy’s pushback to the indictment news.

“MSNBC Reports” host Jonathan Capehart tees it up for Beschloss, adopting a shrill tone to describe the Speaker’s tweet “backing [Trump] up” as “to [his] mind, brings this situation, ramps it up to a whole new level. Tell me I’m wrong.”

“The Speaker of the House has absolutely no business interfering with this process.” Michael Beschloss discusses the significance of Speaker McCarthy calling the potential Trump indictment an ‘outrageous abuse of power.’ pic.twitter.com/dr9iRtiz8a

— MSNBC (@MSNBC) March 18, 2023

Beschloss obliges him, “You’re not wrong, Jonathan. I’m totally with you and the way that you’ve reacted to this almost disgraceful tweet that Kevin McCarthy has put out.”

But wait. He gives his–and the Democrats’– game away in his next breath. Beschloss continues: [emphasis, mine]

I don’t use that word often to describe Speakers of the House. He’s interfering with the process of the rule of law. This is a duly elected D.A. in New York, who…we don’t even know what’s going to happen yet, or what the grand jury is going to do.

But the Speaker of the House has absolutely no business interfering with this process, [by] siding with one side — Donald Trump’s side — and also saying that he’s going to investigate the use of federal funds to interfere, this is him talking, with our elections, an effort by what he calls “politically motivated prosecutors.”

It’s not his business to get involved in the legal process.

But then he tries to turn it up to 11 with fearmongering over what this could lead to: “It also raises another question, Jonathan, which is, as you have said, Donald Trump has put out this statement only a few hours ago, calling on people to nationally protest his possible arrest….So, you have an ex-president calling for a protest that we now know can turn into violence, as it did on the sixth of January, 2021.”

Beschloss wasn’t done beclowning himself, though. Perhaps most comically, he then repeats the progressive fantasy that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi–unlike McCarthy–tried “her best” to keep the Capitol safe on January 6, 2021:

At least, as horrible as that was, you and I talked about it that day, at least you had a Speaker of the House — Nancy Pelosi — where we could be sure that she would do her best to try to protect the Capitol against violent attack.

After this statement by Kevin McCarthy, we have no such reassurance.

The only upside here: considering the fact that ratings continue to show that most people aren’t tuning in to MSNBC, most of what passed for news — and what people like Beschloss, Capehart, and their pals say — often gets gulped up in a void of silence.

McCarthy Throws Down the Gauntlet at Manhattan DA — ‘Abuse of Power’ Against Trump

March 18, 2023 by Nick Arama Leave a Comment

It’s a good thing that the Republicans already have the House Weaponization Committee up and ready to go because it looks like they may have to take on their most important charge to date: dealing with the political action to try to take out President Donald Trump. They’ve seen all kinds of bias so far, when it comes to complaints about things like the FBI. But this is going to be next level, as the Democrats ramp up the effort to take out Trump before the 2024 race.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is not taking the threat of a Democratic DA getting an indictment against Trump lightly. After the news broke about a reported indictment, McCarthy announced that he was directing House committees to investigate whether federal funds are being used to “subvert our democracy by interfering in elections with politically motivated prosecutions.”

McCarthy also called out the effort to get Trump specifically.

“Here we go again — an outrageous abuse of power by a radical DA who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues political vengeance against President Trump,” McCarthy tweeted.

Democrats throw around the terms like “subvert democracy” lightly, for everything, in their smears of Republicans. But when you’re trying to politically prosecute a political opponent, the term is pretty much on target.

In this case, where the Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg is such a leftist that he regularly downgrades the prosecution of real crimes, the move to upgrade this charge against Trump stands out, as we reported earlier. Even Fox’s John Roberts noticed the glaring disparity in how Bragg approaches things — and McCarthy made that point as well.

While McCarthy’s actions wouldn’t stop Bragg from going forward, he’s sending a clear message to Bragg and the other Democrats that they’re not just going to ride right over the Republicans in their mad dash to get Trump. He’s throwing down a bit of a gauntlet at Bragg, and who knows what that investigation may turn up. They will no doubt point out any disparity that they see going on in this matter and will trumpet it loud for everyone to see.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) was already asking the question, “How much federal funding does the Manhattan DA’s office receive?” No doubt there will be more calls to see what they can do to respond to this, and it’s likely to galvanize more Republicans.

The Democrats likely hope that this move is going to help them do in Trump and catapult whomever their candidate ultimately is to victory. Yet, as I said earlier, they may be overplaying their hands. Elon Musk predicted that this will result in a landslide for Trump, if the Democrats go down this road. Already, folks who might have been on the fence when it comes to who to vote for are now saying this is pushing them to Trump.

So, they may just have shot themselves in the foot with this move. It isn’t going to stop Trump from running in the meantime — and it may just be very helpful to him, bringing more people and more money to his side.

#1 – Turley Raises a Big Question about J6 Chansley Case, Then Elon Drops a Bombshell Video — by Nick Arama

They showed videos of Chansley yelling at the crowd. But what they didn’t show was this kind of video, of him peacefully walking around with the officers not threatening anyone. It showed that he wasn’t the character being portrayed to the judge in his case, which may have factored into why he got such a stiff sentence for non-violent action.

Not only does Chansley have Carlson and Turley asking questions about his case, but now he has Twitter owner Elon Musk as well. Musk commented on the video that Carlson had shown about Chansley on his show, showing him being guided around by the police.

#2 – Biden Laughs About IRS Going After Americans, as Yellen Gives Away His Huge Lie — by Nick Arama

So Smith asked what are they talking about when they’re talking about “will not see an increase” — did she mean the total number of new IRS audits or a proportionate number based on historic levels?

“I’m talking about the proportion of those small businesses and families,” Yellen responded.

“Okay. So the proportion, I mean, just for the record, the proportion is 90%,” said Smith, referencing the GAO report. “So 90% of the new audits will be, you know, according to the data, that we can expect up to 90% of new audits to be on those making less than $400,000.”

Oh, so they were playing word games with us. They’re still going to have 90 percent of the new audits falling on us. What weasels. Not that we didn’t know that Joe was lying, but they are such slimy liars, particularly playing these word games.

#3 – There’s a Growing ‘Trad-Wife’ Trend That’s Making Feminists Furious — by Brandon Morse

However, the media is acting as if this is a contagion that needs to be suppressed and destroyed ASAP. People on TikTok are going after these women as if they were social pariahs, denouncing and belittling them at every turn.

While I won’t deny that there are some performative aspects to this growing TikTok trend, as I suspect everything on TikTok to be at least a little theatrical, I don’t see these women looking down on others for not being like them. Moreover, I don’t see them spreading or endorsing any kind of evil. There are bad apples in every tree, but I haven’t seen enough to convince me this is the breeding ground of racism and bigotry like some have claimed.

The question I have to ask is why these people are reacting so negatively to this traditional wife trend.

#4 – Kevin McCarthy Goes There in Speech, Goes off on Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell for Lying — by Jerry Wilson

It is simultaneously refreshing and exciting that McCarthy would be so blunt in his comments. It is also a mite puzzling. Given how much of modern politics is constantly pointing toward the next election, looking for any pull-quote usable to bolster one’s standing among the faithful, not providing same is standard operational procedure. McCarthy’s comments are blue-meat fodder for Schiff’s Senatorial campaign.

They also are usable by Swalwell. Despite the laughable failure of his 2020 presidential campaign, Swalwell clearly has his eye on higher office, most likely the governorship whenever Newsom tires of the job. Perhaps McCarthy is, in his way, living out something Hawkeye Pierce said on M*A*S*H:

You know what a hero is? Ninety-nine times out of a hundred, he’s somebody who’s tired enough and cold enough and hungry enough not to give a damn. I don’t give a damn.

#5 – Taibbi Drops Yet Another Dem With a Little Reality — by Nick Arama

Not only did she ask, but Garcia did as well, as the first video in this story showed.

Taibbi is just on fire, he’s calling all these Democrats out on their lies.

He also made an interesting observation about Rep. Daniel Goldman (D-NY) who hilariously claimed that there wasn’t “any direct government censorship of lawful speech.” Notice the “weasel word” in there, “direct.” If they don’t explicitly say the word “ban” they’re not trying to get the person they flag to Twitter banned, wink wink, it’s not “direct.” But Rep. Jim Jordan (D-OH) dropped him with an example of a request to censor Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

Kevin McCarthy Goes There in Speech, Goes off on Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell for Lying

March 11, 2023 by Jerry Wilson Leave a Comment

The opinions expressed by contributors are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of RedState.com.

It’s a pretty safe bet at the next gathering of California House of Representatives members, should such an event transpire, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) will not be picking up Adam Schiff or Eric Swalwell’s bar tab. This decidedly less than surprising notion comes courtesy of McCarthy’s speech on March 11th to the California Republican Party Spring 2023 Organizing Convention, during which he flat-out called Schiff and Swalwell liars. From the Sacramento Bee:

He accused Schiff and Swalwell of lying “time and time again” during their tenure on the House Intelligence Committee, which oversees the FBI, the CIA, and other national security agencies.

McCarthy did not explain Saturday what Schiff allegedly lied about. In the past he has accused Schiff of lying when he claimed he did not know the whistleblower who had first-hand knowledge that Trump tried to get Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to investigate Joe and Hunter Biden.

“When a whistleblower came forward, [Schiff] said he did not know the individual even though his staff had met with him and set it up,” McCarthy told reporters in January.

In the same speech, McCarthy also tore into California Governor Gavin Newsom.

McCarthy had similarly strong words for Gov. Newsom — and Democratic “overspending” in general.

“We’ve watched what Gavin has done to our state,” he said. Newsom is “the only Governor I know that can take a budget surplus and bring it into a budget deficit.”

“He’s the only Governor I know in the country that thinks spending $128 billion on a train to nowhere is a good investment … the only thing I think Gavin spends more time on than high speed rails is spending time on his hair.”

While during his tenure as House Speaker, McCarthy has made good on specific promises — for example, he kicked Schiff and Swalwell off the House Intelligence Committee and kept them off despite House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries’ whining — he has much more ground to cover. A good starting place would be the inept CA GOP, which in addition to being such a money-sopping cluster in statewide elections it makes Ronna McDaniel look like Scott Presler, is quite possibly harboring bad actors actively working on China’s behalf. This is even more important given further comments McCarthy made during his speech.

McCarthy said that the first of his three priorities going into 2024 is the country’s $31 million (sic) deficit; his other priorities are changing the education system via a “Parents Bill of Rights” and taking a more aggressive approach in dealing with China.

Good talk, Mr. Speaker. Now, let’s see action.

Prepare the Popcorn: McCarthy Made Another J6 Announcement That Will Drive Dems Mad

March 10, 2023 by Nick Arama Leave a Comment

The opinions expressed by contributors are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of RedState.com.

House Speaker McCarthy has ticked off the Democrats royally by giving access to some of the more than 40,000 hours of security video from the Capitol on Jan. 6. to Tucker Carlson.

McCarthy is about to make them even madder now. He said that he intended to release all the video to the public as soon as they finish reviewing the footage to address any security concerns. As we reported, while they vetted what Tucker Carlson used, McCarthy said that the Jan. 6 Committee never vetted anything with the Capitol Police for security concerns.

From Townhall:

“We just want to make sure we go through them all, and it takes time,” McCarthy said. “The first thing that Tucker said too, he didn’t want to show any exits to cause any problems. We asked the Capitol Police, ‘Were there any concerns?’ They came back with one, and we mitigated that, but it was interesting, that one that they had a problem with, Eric Swalwell had had up on the internet for the last two years showing that part.”

Fascinating. Isn’t he one of the people who has been yelling the most about how Carlson’s coverage was a security concern? Yet McCarthy is saying that not only wasn’t the Committee truly concerned about that but Swalwell was the one who put that potential issue out there for the past two years. Looks like Swalwell is raising security problems yet again.

But that wasn’t all. McCarthy pointed out how there were many more hours than the Committee had said of the video, and that there were more security issues that the Committee and Democrats had exposed.

Speaker McCarthy vows full public release of the Jan 6 surveillance tapes. pic.twitter.com/G1Dw6jROzt

— suzy (@Suzy_1776) March 9, 2023

“Well this is all about transparency,” McCarthy said, explaining his decision to release the tapes. “I think it’s better for transparency that anyone can make their own decision up, and as we walk through these, these are many more hours of tapes than the January 6 committee told us. It’s not 14,000. It’s 42,000 hours. We want to make sure for security purposes our certain exits aren’t shown and others. But you know the most interesting thing, when I had the team talk to the Capitol Police about making sure they had no problems with the exit and so on, they said January 6 never asked them that. They showed the exit of the vice president. They showed the exit from my office. They literally had then-Speaker Pelosi’s daughter showing the secure location that they take the leadership. That’s not supposed to be known to anybody, and CNN reported it, and I don’t remember the press ever getting upset with that. So what we want to do is make sure we have this out that everybody can see it.”

This just shows how truly shameless the Democrats are.
