Former Indiana Coach Hysterically Mocks Kamala’s Cringe Basketball Speech

He’s a former player, an assistant coach, a one-time interim head coach for the Indiana University Hoosiers, a former head coach at Bowling Green State University, and now a radio host for OutKick.

His name is Dan Dakich, and he is one outspoken and funny man. Both those attributes are increasingly rare in the world of today’s sports journalism, where often the scores and gameplay are buried beneath constant social justice messaging.

Dakich went on Tucker Carlson’s show with guest host Will Cain Friday night to pillory Vice President Kamala Harris’ pep talk to her alma mater’s team, the Howard University Bison, after they’d just suffered a devastating and lopsided loss. As our Nick Arama reported, the speech was “full-on cringe.”

Dakich agreed, yukking it up with Cain:

Alright, look, we all know that Kamala Harris is a God-awful public speaker. In fact, I always think she’s high on something, I swear to God. But, I gotta tell you, that’s a tough speech, Will, that is a tough speech if you’re a coach. I’m trying to be fair here. That’s a tough speech. If you’re a celebrity, you come in, you’re asked to speak to a bunch of kids that just lost by 28 points.

You know what they want to do, they want to get out of there, but I got to tell you, she’s the worst public speaker I think ever in politics. I almost want to take Joe Biden out of it.

Dakich could barely contain his laughter as he spoke. Watch Kamala’s pep talk and you’ll know why:

Dakich:

She talks to people like they’re in kindergarten. She loves her own jokes. I would be sitting there going man, come on. But I will say this. I thought the Howard kids showed class. I thought they were fantastic. I thought they sat there. They were respectful and I did like at the end that she invited the Howard team to come to the White House. I did think that was cool.

But man, oh man, that’s a bad speaker. How is that a vice president speaking like that?

I’m unable to find the Tucker Carlson Tonight video online, but lucky for you Dakich made similar points on his radio show. Skip past Kamala’s speech to get to Dakich’s punchlines:

“Can you imagine sitting in there? Listening to that idiot?” he says in the clip above. “We are all dumber for having to listen to that… ‘Camilla.’ I apologize to my listeners—right?”

Dakich might want to consider dropping his sports career to become a comedian. Will Cain had some pretty funny lines too:

She speaks to everyone like they’re in second grade or in kindergarten, and you have to wonder what she’s waiting on. It’s like an applause line that she got on Colbert, or an applause line she got during a vice presidential debate that she now thinks is coming at every moment.

And it’s always unearned. It’s missing.

The reason their mockery of Kamala Harris is so funny is that sometimes the only thing you can do is laugh at something, otherwise, you’d cry.

When you watch the child-like Vice President of the United States constantly spew out gibberish and talk to people as if they’re infants, you can’t help but be concerned about the direction of this country—especially since she’s one heartbeat away from the presidency.

Kamala Booed at March Madness Game, Her ‘Pep Talk’ Is Full-On Cringe

We covered a bit of a controversy that swept the internet on Thursday — what was that guy doing behind Kamala Harris, who was watching her alma mater, Howard, take on Kansas in Des Moines, Iowa, for March Madness? Harris was at the game with her husband, Doug Emhoff.

Harris was intently focused on the game when it appeared like a guy was sniffing behind her in a Joe Biden-like fashion. My colleague Sister Toldjah explained how this was just an odd camera position and the guy was leaning in to listen/interact with a woman who was standing behind Kamala, which you could see from a wider-shot video.

However, things didn’t go well for Kamala Harris while she was there. First, her team got blown out in the game, 96-68. According to multiple reports, when Kamala’s picture was put up on the Jumbotron during the game, she was booed. Even the AP admitted that the boos outnumbered the cheers.

It matches her unpopularity in polls. It’s one of those things that always enters into the thoughts of people who think that Joe Biden should step down — but Kamala is pretty bad too and there’s even been speculation about her being replaced on the ticket.

But Harris wasn’t finished yet at the game. After her team got crushed, she went down to speak to the Howard Bison in the locker room after the game and gave them a pep talk. If there’s anything that a team doesn’t want to hear after they’ve lost badly, it’s probably Kamala Harris. Why torture them more? But that didn’t stop her.

“You guys are so good, you guys are so good,” Harris said as she met the team and gave them a round of applause. “You played hard, you played to the very last second, you made all us Bisons so, so proud.”

“You are smart. You are disciplined. You put everything you had into the game,” Harris said. “And you know that’s what it’s about, right. Until the last minute, you guys did that, you didn’t stop until the last second, you did not stop, and that is so inspiring. So you keep playing with chin up and shoulders back because you showed the world who Bison are.” [….]

“You make us so proud, so I know you might not be feeling great right now, OK, but know who you are: You are excellence, you are hard work, you are powerful and you are winners,” she said before offering a tour of the White House to the group of young men.

Harris did that thing where she sounds like she’s talking to five-year-olds again. she always sounds so condescending when she talks to people. These are college men, Kamala. They probably feel disappointed enough, they don’t have to be spoken to like children. Talk about cringy.

The only thing you can say is that she isn’t doing it deliberately to them, she does it to every audience that she speaks to. I don’t know whether she doesn’t know how to speak normally to people or whether she just thinks she’s better/more intelligent than everyone else, but it just comes off wrong every time.

It’s going to be fun to see her in a debate against the Republican candidate, she’s gotten wiped out in debates. That is if they have one and don’t just hide in the basement again.

Moore to the Point – Have a Ball

There’s a lot of ugly stuff going on in the world right now – maybe that’s always been the case, but it sure seems uglier these days. And it’s my job to read and write and talk about it, so, unfortunately, it tends to color my outlook, despite my instinctive optimism and my unshakeable faith.

But there’s a time and place for everything – even basketball. I’ve never been a big NBA fan (likely because I’ve lived in a town without an NBA franchise for most of my life), but I enjoy college hoops – and I adore Tournament Time.

I’m one of those nerds who fills out multiple brackets – usually across multiple pools – and then I watch all the updates and track the wins with my multi-color felt-tipped pens. Even when I was in the hospital awaiting the birth of my daughter (21 years ago Wednesday), I passed a lot of the time tracking my brackets.

I don’t know why exactly I enjoy it so – I just know that I do, and that we could all use a break from the gloom and doom. So if you’re a tournament fan like me, give yourself that break. Grab your brackets, trade the everyday madness for March Madness, enjoy the Big Dance, and…have a ball.

Tale of Two Tapes: Video of Kamala Harris During March Madness Game Has People Talking

As of Tuesday and Wednesday, March Madness 2023 was officially underway, with Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, Pittsburgh, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Arizona State all advancing beyond the First Four games to the main bracket of the NCAA Men’s Division I basketball tournament.

Highlights from Thursday’s games so far include the 13-seed Furman Paladins upsetting the fourth-seed Virginia Cavaliers, the latter of who are no strangers to big-time first-round tournament disappointment.

Something else from the tournament that got people’s attention Thursday was a video clip posted to Twitter of a man standing behind Vice President Kamala Harris, who was in attendance for the Howard/Kansas game in Des Moines along with her husband, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.

Howard University is Harris’ alma mater.

The video, which has since been deleted by the Twitter user who first posted it, made it appear as though the unidentified man was pulling a creepy Joe Biden move by sniffing Harris’ hair and ogling her at one point during the game.

Other Twitter users picked up the clip and posted it as well:

It wasn’t long after that others were comparing the man to Joe Biden and all the instances where he’s gotten uncomfortably and inappropriately close to the women around him who aren’t his wife. Some even half-jokingly suggested that the man was a “long-lost son” of Biden’s.

I have to admit that when I first watched it, while I didn’t think the man was “sniffing” it did look like he might have been ogling a bit.

But the problem with the “sniffing man” allegation (and the ogling talk) is that the video from a wider angle clearly shows the man was doing nothing of the sort. Apparently, he was tilting his head down to hear what someone shorter (and who was not Kamala Harris) was saying to him during the course of the game.

The person who originally posted the video, conservative commentator Greg Price, did the right thing not long after his mistake was pointed out to him and posted an apology tweet along with the more complete version for his followers to see.

“Would like to formally apologize to sniff man. We got buzzed from the booth and upon further review, it appears he leaned in to talk to someone. The flag has been picked up,” he wrote:

The lesson to be learned here, of course, is to always wait for the long versions of the “too good to be true” videos, because they are often that. Too good to be true.

As for the Howard/Kansas game, the 16-seeded Howard failed to defy the odds, and lost big to the top-seeded Jayhawks 68-96.

Rather fitting, all things considered.
