Megyn Kelly Shares a Personal Struggle and Eviscerates the Preferred Pronoun Brigade in Response

June 3, 2023 by Bonchie Leave a Comment

The fight over transgender ideology has jumped to the forefront over the last several years and for very good reason. Far from the “we just want to be left alone” approach that gay marriage advocates once took a decade ago, the transgender movement has taken a far more militant posture.

It’s not enough to tolerate the fact that some people are delusional enough to truly believe they can change their gender, or just as nonsensically, that they have no gender at all. Affirmation and subjugation are the demands of the radical leftwing push toward transgender “acceptance.” According to transgender ideology, which is accepted and pushed at the highest levels of the federal government, actual women no longer have a right to privacy. Instead, their ability to consent has been canceled in order to ensure the comfort of men who wear dresses and mutilate their bodies.

For years, podcast host and former Fox News star Megyn Kelly went along with that regime. Things have changed for her, though, and she explained in detail why she not only no longer sympathizes with transgender ideology, but why she’s ceasing to use “preferred pronouns” as well.

KELLY: Look at this. A pregnant woman who purports to call herself a man, complete with facial hair, on the cover of Glamour magazine. She says, “Giving birth made her very dysphoric. That will happen when you calling yourself a man while giving birth to a baby to the point where she demanded a c-section. I for one will not be celebrating this dishonesty. In fact, I’m in a very different place when it comes to this entire issue. And that is the subject of today’s opening. Why I’m done with preferred pronouns.

I was an early proponent of using preferred pronouns as far back as the early 2000’s. Of saying “she” when I knew the truth was “he.” It seemed harmless and I had no wish to cause offense. Trans people were tortured enough, it seemed to me, by nature of their dysphoria and society’s disdain for them in general. So I complied. I went along with it. I didn’t see the harm.

By 2016 we were debating bills to stop trans access to certain bathrooms which I covered from the news desk, siding with the trans community. How does it affect our lives as women if here or there a trans person uses a stall in our bathroom? These people aren’t bothering anyone. Why wouldn’t we accommodate them? I didn’t see the harm.

She continues from there describing how she eventually found herself at NBC News promoting the transitioning of children, something she wasn’t sure was right but that she felt was a way to help those suffering. By 2020, she began to see the “warning signs,” though.

Kelly cites Abigail Shrier’s book Irreversible Damage (which was eventually banned from Amazon) as a turning point in helping her understand the immense harm being caused by transgender ideology. Why is it acceptable to erase womanhood in order to affirm the mental illness of men? Does objective truth have any place in society anymore? And does no one care about what’s being done to children in the name of transgenderism?

Eventually, Kelly found herself on the other side of the issue, and she explained where she is today in the second part of her monologue.

KELLY: It is beyond time to stand up to the trans lobby that means to deprive women of their spaces and rights. To the men who pose as trans women to gain access to places like sorority houses only to exploit the women strong-armed into welcoming them.

To the men who grow their hair long, throw on a dress, pop on their TikTok filter and then threaten to kill us if we object to them coming into our private spaces. To the mutilation of our children by money-driven doctors and the rape of our imprisoned sisters and the theft of our medals and opportunities to win.

How can we stand up to any of this if we are complicit? How can we fight for facts if we participate in this fiction that a man *can* become a woman, that “transitioning” is possible. And then we try to say no, “she” cannot come into our locker rooms or bathrooms or swimming lanes or sororities?

We try to say no, Target, “she” can buy “her” bathing suit with the extra fabric to hide “her penis” in some other store? It doesn’t make sense because it isn’t true. And we know it’s not true, and to pretend that it is true is to foster a lie that’s hurting too many people, almost all of them, girls. Women and girls.

“How can we stand up to any of this if we are complicit” is a statement that needs to be read verbatim to many outlets on the right. Fox News, for example, continues to use “preferred pronouns” in their news articles, even when a piece is being written to point out the absurdity of transgender ideology. As I’ve said before, you can’t straddle the fence on transgenderism. If you accept its initial premise, even out of a desire to be kind and accommodating, it will consume everything.

That realization led Kelly to stop using “preferred pronouns,” something that she now calls a “rhetorical trick” to force normal people to cede the argument.

KELLY: For these reasons, I have resolved to base my conversations around gender on the same tenets that already govern my life: truth and reality. I will not use preferred pronouns, a decision motivated by a growing alarm over women’s rights and the safety of children.

I will speak to a trans person kindly and with empathy. In their presence I will likely try to avoid pronouns altogether as I have no wish to intentionally provoke or upset anyone.

But I will not take this gateway drug anymore. Because I have a daughter. Because I am a woman, an adult human female.

To that extent, Kelly is a little more soft on the pronoun issue than I am. I also used to feel the pressure (not from anyone at RedState) to avoid pronoun usage altogether when writing on transgender issues in order to avoid controversy. In the end, though, I decided that I was helping no one by obscuring the truth of the matter. In no other situation would I mislabel a person or avoid labeling them at all just because they claim to be something they aren’t. Why should I do it when it comes to transgenderism?

Still, despite that slight disagreement on degree, I’m glad to see Kelly has been awakened to what’s really going on. We need all the influential voices we can get on the side of sanity and reality when it comes to transgender ideology.

University of Colorado Warns Students to Be Woke, Calls Misgendering ‘an Act of Violence’

May 31, 2023 by Alex Parker Leave a Comment

Are you a violent person? You might be, depending on your language. Such is the situation according to the University of Colorado.

The school’s Boulder campus hosts a Pride Office, which has laid out limits related to speech. Per the official page on pronouns, to respect someone is to do as they demand with your words — when they aren’t around:

Pronouns are one of the ways we portray our identities. When a person asks you to use their pronouns, they are asking for you to respect their identity.

Though pronouns are generally used in someone’s absence, that person will somehow sense your syllables:

When someone refers to another person using the wrong pronouns, especially on purpose, that can lead to that person feeling disrespected and can lead to dysphoria, exclusion and alienation.

Violence is violence; and so are words:

Choosing to ignore or disrespect someone’s pronouns is not only an act of oppression but can also be considered an act of violence.

School administrators are attempting to oppress oppression, so they’re violently attacking violence. That seems the situation, since words of opposition are violence…and the college is opposing unapproved pronouns with its words.

Perhaps the most notable reality revealed by CU Boulder is that one can commit violence against another without any semblance of close physical proximity. According to principles promoted by the Pride Office, an oppressor in Bejing may violently attack a member of the Miami marginalized — simply by uttering third-person words.

In order to avoid violence, how might students keep track peers’ pronoun preferences? Perhaps a notebook will help. I previously suggested a scenario in which our New Rules are put into play; consider, if you will, the following:

While attending college, you meet and briefly converse with cool-shoes Horacio. The body with male sex organs informs you vis pronouns are of the “ve” variety — except ve substitutes “nem” for “ver,” “eir” for “vis,” “nirs” for the other “vis,” and “bunself” for “verself.”

You log the above into your notebook, in case you ever refer to nem. You and Horacio never speak again.

While home on Christmas break, you visit your cousin. You want to indicate you’d enjoy getting shoes similar to those worn by an entity you once met. You consult your book and then explain:

“There was some human at school who had shoes like the ones I want. Ve told me ve got them at the mall. I was going to ask nem which store, but I got distracted because I had to log nirs particulars into the 500-page journal I carry to record everybody I might ever reference’s pronouns. Ve would’ve probably taken me to the store bunself, but I’ll never know.”

Seventy years later, you’re recalling how you ended up obtaining those very shoes. You want to share this story with your nursing home attendant, and fortunately, you have a laptop with all your pronoun notes from seven decades past. Ze’ll be changing your bedpan next Thursday, and by then, you and your ninety-year-old mind will have figured out how to tell zir.

Back to CU Colorado, what should a student do if a person’s preferred pronouns are unknown? The Pride Office has an idea.

Usually it’s safe to use they/them/theirs unless that person tells you otherwise.

Try to introduce yourself with your own pronouns so that everyone you meet knows that you’re a safe space and that you won’t assume a person’s pronouns. It also prompts them to provide pronouns without it being awkward. (Ex. “Hello, my name is Alex and I use they/them/theirs pronouns.”)

Hello, my name is Alex; and I can’t hear you where you are. Therefore, I’ll never be aware of your vocalized violence. Or perhaps CU Boulder is right, and I actually will. Either way, let’s all absolutely avoid violence.

-ALEX

Your Tax Dollars at Work: Government Accountability Office Mandates What Employees Can and Can’t Say

May 28, 2023 by Bob Hoge Leave a Comment

Ever wonder where your tax dollars are going? They don’t seem to be doing much to lower crime or solve the homelessness crisis. All too often these days we find that our money is going to fund indoctrination efforts by the Biden administration as they force their woke brand of justice on society—whether you like it or not.

The latest victims are the 3,100 employees of the Government Accountability Office (GAO) who have been told to avoid “gendered language” in the workplace. According to its website, the Office wasn’t created to engage in social activism, but instead to keep an eye on the government itself. Their website describes their function:

GAO provides Congress, the heads of executive agencies, and the public with timely, fact-based, non-partisan information that can be used to improve government and save taxpayers billions of dollars.

Our work is done at the request of congressional committees or subcommittees or is statutorily required by public laws or committee reports, per our Congressional Protocols.

An internal memo dated October 2022 and obtained by The Daily Mail, however, shows that they have other ideas in mind. The 3,000+ word missive penned by the  “chief diversity management officer” demands that workers not use “wording that diminishes anyone’s dignity.” It sounds like a noble enough goal—until you hear some of the words like “manpower” that are considered triggering. Have you ever heard someone use a phrase like, “We don’t have enough manpower for that job” and immediately thought that someone would find it deeply insulting? If you have, you’re probably one of those people who sit around searching for things to be aggrieved about.

More from the memo:

Inclusive language allows us to support GAO’s mission by appropriately addressing all members of society. [I throw the red flag right there, folks. the use of the word “members” is extremely inappropriate and offensive.] Writing inclusively means your words, phrases and tone are free from assumptions, implications, and connotations that may exclude people or perpetuate misconcenptions. The overarching goals are to respect the identitites and prerefences of all people and to avoid wording that diminishes anyone’s dignity or humanity.

If I’m working for the GAO, I’m thinking to myself, what does all that gobbledygook actually mean in practice? They supply more confusing guidance filled with buzzwords to help explain:

“When it is necessary to refer to sex or gender identity, be aware of the distinction and avoid equating the two,” the leaked memo reads.

“Sex is a classification of people into categories such as male, female or intersex on the basis of biological characteristics.

“Gender identity is a person”s innermost concept of self as male, female, a blend of both, or neither.

“Gender identity may align with the sex a person was assigned at birth (cisgender), another sex (transgender), or neither.

“A person whose gender identity does not align with their sex assigned at birth or with another sex may identify as nonbinary, agender, or gender fluid, among other identities.”

Maybe it’s just me, but I think the employees should be focused on holding the government to account and detecting financial irregularities, not obsessing about their gender identities. Aren’t there some important issues out there?

Management Report: Improvements Needed in IRS’s Financial Reporting and Information System Controls https://t.co/yzunaqVeaa

— U.S. GAO (@USGAO) May 25, 2023

There’s more stupidity, but you get the idea: don’t call illegal aliens illegal aliens, use footnotes “when your choice of inclusive language could be unfamiliar or confusing,” don’t use “differently abled” (which until recently was deemed considerate), etcetera, etcetera.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) had an appropriate response:

If Biden and the radical leftists in his administration focused on the real problems facing America — forty-year high inflation, out of control crime, open borders and a flood of deadly drugs — instead of forcing a woke ideology down our throats, our country would be in a far better position to tackle the problems he has exacerbated.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was equally scathing:

The GAO is tasked with investigating federal spending and performance, but under President Biden they’re wasting valuable government time and resources on regulating language.

While it’s nice to be polite, this whole exercise reeks of silliness, especially when as RedState‘s streiff reported, the GAO doesn’t “doesn’t know why and may not even care” about the disastrous military recruiting numbers our forces are experiencing. Maybe they should spend some time on that?

The government should not be dictating social policy on its workers or on its citizens. Increasingly however under Biden’s administration, the federal bureaucracy often seems to be preoccupied with anything except their actual jobs.

State Dept. Shows It Needs Complete Overhaul With Horrible Response to Mandatory Pronoun Mess

May 21, 2023 by Nick Arama Leave a Comment

Time is counting down on Joe Biden dealing with debt negotiations. As I wrote earlier, Biden seemed to have no idea what was going on when he gave his answers to reporters about the debt ceiling while he was at the G7 in Japan, after he had delayed meeting with Republicans for months.

But while the Biden team delayed action on something so important that puts our economy at risk, they were quick to impose a new edict at the State Department when it comes to pronouns, as we reported. Veteran AP reporter Matt Lee exposed that on Thursday when he demanded to know from State Department Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Petal why the State Department emails were suddenly imposing pronouns on everyone in the “from line” on emails.

WATCH: AP’s Matt Lee asks Biden State Department why they’ve added mandatory pronouns onto the from line on State Department emails.

“This is not an optional thing. … But the problem is that a lot of them or at least some of them so far, as I’ve been able to tell, are wrong!… pic.twitter.com/KVnbnICrUT

— Steve Guest (@SteveGuest) May 18, 2023

Lee explained that this was “not an optional thing” and was being imposed on all department emails. He wanted to know “who made this decision” and why it was “mandatory.” Lee was not shy about saying this was “wrong” and whether or not people wanted to use pronouns should be a “choice.”

But Lee also hilariously noted that the woke Biden team appears to have messed things up in imposing the new requirement. People who were women were getting male pronouns, and the reverse, which was “ridiculous,” he said. Patel said he had no idea about what Lee was talking about but said he would check into it.

But if that wasn’t nutty enough and showed how perverse their priorities are, they’ve just added more stupidity to the story.

The State Department sent out an email to employees on Friday saying that they could have free therapy if they felt “hurt or upset” about being misgendered by the Biden administration edict. They were encouraged to contact the “State Department’s Employee Consultation Service if they were upset about the mixup.”

One employee said that the incident was a distraction from their work and “a lot of people here have been triggered today.”

According to the State Department’s Chief information officer Kelly E. Fletcher, “the intent behind this feature is to make our systems more inclusive and provide employees with options. Not to make decisions for them.”

Fletcher said, “I recognize that this error had the opposite effect, and again, I am very sorry.”

The organization is in the process of “testing a new feature that will provide users with the option to include their preferred pronouns in their Global Address List profile. The feature inadvertently went live, and a large number of employees had randomly assigned pronouns added to their profiles,” Fletcher said.

“I deeply regret the confusion and distress this mistake caused our workforce,” Fletcher concluded.

This response is more concerning than the original story. The original story showed how bad the Biden team is, trying to impose their woke edicts on people. But thinking that making this “mandatory” is more “inclusive” is madness. Also, if State Department people get so upset about this misgendering that they’re “triggered” and need therapy, then they probably shouldn’t be working there and representing this country. This news revealing how fragile some of these folks are is truly concerning. We’ve already seen we need to re-evaluate all the FBI leadership, but unfortunately, the whole government — including the State Department — is infected with this madness.
