Report Uncovers Our Taxpayer Dollars Are Going to Far More Than a War Effort in Ukraine

September 25, 2023 by Brandon Morse Leave a Comment

Ukraine has been begging America for billions of dollars since its war with Russia started and Washington has been more than happy to fork it over by the truckloads as a means to weaken Putin, but as it turns out, our money has been enriching Ukraine, not just helping it fight a war.

This report comes from CBS of all places. In a segment on “60 Minutes,” reporters went to Ukraine to see how our money was being spent. Sure enough, they found war machines and weapons, but then they left the front.

While some of the money is being given to other war-adjacent efforts such as the training of rescue dogs and bomb detection in the rivers and creeks of Ukraine to keep unexploded bombs from harming civilians, our money is going to Ukraine’s economy in various ways.

As it turns out, our money is also going to farmers, purchasing seeds and fertilizer:

American taxpayers are financing more than just weapons. We discovered the U.S. government’s buying seeds and fertilizer for Ukrainian farmers… and covering the salaries of Ukraine’s first responders – all 57,000 of them.

We’re also subsidizing Ukraine’s businesses:

Russia’s invasion shrank Ukraine’s economy by about a third. We were surprised to find that to keep it afloat the U.S. government is subsidizing small businesses…

…like Tatiana Abramova’s knitwear company.

According to 60 Minutes, USAID has helped Abramova’s knitting business find customers overseas. The reason we’re paying for her business? According to Abramova, the Ukrainian economy is the backbone of the war.

Given the amount of money we’ve sent, it seems that the American taxpayer is the real backbone of this war:

In total, America’s pumped nearly $25 billion of non-military aid into Ukraine’s economy since the invasion began – and you can see it working at the bustling farmers market on John McCain Street in central Kyiv.

We’re also paying the salaries of Ukrainian first responders. All 57,000 of them.

60 Minutes discovered the U.S. is financing more than weapons in Ukraine. The government is buying seeds/fertilizer for farmers, paying the salaries of 57,000 first responders and subsidizing small businesses. https://t.co/vKWwWDqUwM pic.twitter.com/BxXItNgQce

— 60 Minutes (@60Minutes) September 24, 2023

While it’s probably not surprising that billions of our taxpayer dollars are going to things other than the war effort, what really chaps American backsides is that all of this help is going to non-military Ukrainians while Americans are struggling in a myriad of ways themselves, especially in places like Maui where a fire sent the death toll to around 1,000 and the destruction they suffered was met with the Biden administration handing them a paltry $700.

As Honolulu Civil Beat noted, the Biden administration sought more aid for Maui to the tune of $12 billion, but tying $24.1 billion in more aid to Ukraine to it, forcing Republicans to block it:

But the effort to get a speedy appropriation has foundered after the Biden administration sought $12 billion in emergency funding that would extend disaster relief programs while simultaneously requesting some $24.1 billion in military spending for Ukraine in the same package.

That means that funding Hawaii’s needs for Maui’s recovery has been tied to funding to back Ukraine’s military, an increasingly unpopular topic in some Republican circles. When the House passed its fiscal 2024 defense authorization bill early this summer, a contingent of several dozen House Republicans sought to prohibit additional U.S. assistance to Ukraine.

As all of this is happening, more and more is being revealed about the corruption in Ukraine. As RedState reported, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul himself denounced Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenski for canceling Ukraine’s elections and the ruling party effectively becoming tyrants:

They’ve banned the political parties, they’ve invaded churches, they’ve arrested priests. So no, it isn’t a democracy, it’s a corrupt regime. Are the Russians any better? No, the Russians are worse, but at the same time, we don’t always have to pick some side to be on, but the ultimate reason I’m against this is we don’t have the money and when we borrow more money it leads to more inflation, leads to more likelihood of recession in our country, and so we can’t keep doing it.

We’re funding Ukraine to the detriment of the American people, and it would seem Democrats are more than willing to hurt the American people more in order to make Ukraine better. We don’t have the cash to fund Ukraine, and we especially have better uses for what we borrow here in the States. However, the Democrats are continuously choosing America last.

They’re certainly putting the Ukrainian people first.

WATCH: Outrage Explodes After Canadian Parliament and Zelensky Honor Nazi SS Soldier

September 25, 2023 by Bonchie Leave a Comment

Outrage is exploding after the Canadian Parliament and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave a standing ovation to a man named Yaroslav Hunka.

Described as a Ukrainian war hero who fought the Russians by Speaker Anthony Rota, Hunka is seen on camera standing and pumping his fist while Zelensky and Canadian PM Justin Trudeau cheer. The problem? Hunka’s fight against the Russians came when he was a member of the Waffen SS fighting for nazi Germany.

Canadian lawmakers cheered and Zelenskyy raised his fist in acknowledgement as Hunka saluted from the gallery during two separate standing ovations. Rota called him a “Ukrainian hero and a Canadian hero, and we thank him for all his service.”

The excuses began to flow immediately, with Rota claiming that he and Zelensky were unaware of Hunka’s background. That makes little sense given an announcement was made of his fighting during World War II against the Russians. You would expect everyone present, including a Ukrainian like Zelensky, to be aware that those who fought the nazis during that time period were fighting for Hitler. Everyone is now playing dumb in the aftermath, but it belabors belief that no one in the room realized what was happening.

To make matters worse, this happened on the eve of Yom Kippur, and the Waffen SS unit that Hunka served in was accused of committing atrocities against Jews. Further, there is no doubt that the unit was fully in collaboration with nazi Germany.

Rota offered this apology along with an attempt to absolve everyone else who stood and applauded.

“In my remarks following the address of the President of Ukraine, I recognized an individual in the gallery. I have subsequently become aware of more information which causes me to regret my decision to do so,” Rota said in a statement.

He added that his fellow Parliament members and the Ukraine delegation were not aware of his plan to recognize Hunka. Rota noted Hunka is from his district.

This is what happens when the entire world is so desperate to virtue signal that they break everything down into simple binary. That binary right now is Russia is bad, and Ukraine is good. The world is more complicated than that, though, and literal SS soldiers did not suddenly become worthy of honor just because they fought the Russians at some point in their lives.

For Hunka to even show up for this event is astonishing. I know he’s really, really old, but he seems to be in good health. Did he really think it was fine to have the parliament honor him when his service happened at the behest of Adolf Hitler? The entire thing is just a cluster. Zelensky is going to need to address this directly.

It’s also worth noting that the ADL and its CEO, Jonathan Greenblatt, have not made a single comment about the incident. Once again, partisan politics appears to be getting in the way of an organization that claims to stand against anti-Semitism.

As Biden’s Condition Degrades, NBC’s WH Reporter Seeks to Upgrade Him to ‘President of the World’

September 22, 2023 by Brad Slager Leave a Comment

While it has long been a point of contention, going all the way back to his campaign for the 2020 general election, Joe Biden’s mental frailty has become a more glaring topic of conversation. Over the past months, examples of his diminished faculties have expanded, the criticisms of this more vocal, and the press has been constrained with trying to turn this line of talk back on the Republicans. Even Democrats have begun to speculate if he needs to be replaced for 2024.

Just don’t tell this to NBC’s Peter Alexander.

Recently, the network’s chief White House correspondent was giving an assessment of Biden’s prospects, and Alexander delivered a commentary that is downright baffling.

What we are discussing here is a recent visit Pete made with Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports.” He gave a rundown of Biden’s appearance before the United Nations General Assembly, and on the surface, there are some at least sound comments from him. The problem, however, is in Biden’s display of things, both in recent months but in particular, this past week.

There was the presser he gave with the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Through it all, Biden appeared adrift, walking out without da Silva, leaving the stage before him, giving rambling sentences while looking ill-prepared. Even during the controlled sit-down session, you could see the president going off script, and even alluding to the fact that he was breaking the preset directions of unnamed handlers.

Biden’s mental slide is no mystery, so when Alexander suggests great things for Joe Biden at the UN, you can only come to one conclusion: The man is simply regurgitating talking points he’s been fed from Biden’s team. How else is one to explain this level of stunted pontificating?

In his earnest and straightforward reporting on things, he seems genuinely sincere in his comments, yet you are struck with pondering what is at play. Is it delusional thinking? Is it obliviousness? Maybe gas lighting? Is it sheer blind allegiance at all costs and against all evidence? You really are left with that feeling as if you are observing a moment divorced entirely from your known reality. It is like walking through a zoo and encountering a species you never saw before: “The Reticulated Coiffed Journo (Partisanian oblivianus) is native to the swampland areas of D.C. and is notable for the way it moves in only one direction.”

Peter Alexander is describing a man who constantly struggles with what to do at the close of a press conference, who has developed an ongoing rivalry with his teleprompter, and who is prone to meandering away from events, in an opportune manner will be primed to run the entire planet. This is someone you cannot trust with the TV remote.

At the United Nations, those in attendance, and anyone watching elsewhere, saw a display by a man that would lead to no one voting for him with confidence. He told the Assembly he wanted to work with China, because “NOWHERE is that more critical that in accelerating the climate crisis,” and then proceeded to infuriate the translators with his patented run-on, unintelligible, creative pronunciation.

Later in the week, he met with Ukraine’s President Zelensky and managed to forget the name of what has to be his favorite world leader. Then in a nighttime speech, he looked over the banquet hall and hailed the accomplishments of the Congressional Black Caucus – except he was addressing the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

It is for these reasons, and more, that I will be casting my vote to see that Stacey Abrams is reelected as President of Earth.

Now hold on – Did Stacey Abrams get impeached?!?!?! https://t.co/zwWcJdNJaH pic.twitter.com/QVcMrZuKXn

RedState Interview: Ohio Freedom Caucus Member Has Questions for Zelensky

September 18, 2023 by Neil W. McCabe Leave a Comment

An Ohio Republican congressman and member of the House Freedom Caucus told RedState he has questions for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as the comic-cum-war leader arrived in New York City today for his second visit to the United States, including an address to the United Nations General Assembly and visit to Washington.

“I’d be happy to meet with him or his delegation as someone who’s been reluctant for the United States to get involved in a proxy war, but to say: ‘What would he view as success at this point?’” said Rep. Warren G. Davidson, who is also a member of the House Foreign Relations Committee.

Davidson said he recognized that the Ukrainians had fought gallantly against terrible odds, but Zelensky needs to lay out for lawmakers what his plan moving forward is.

“Frankly, I think you got to look at it and say they’ve achieved an awful lot of success with what they have done right now,” the Army Ranger veteran and West Point graduate said.

Davidson said he views that success in the context of President Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s statements and behavior before Russian military forces crossed the berm.

“The Biden administration’s early expectations were clearly that their country would be steamrolled by Russia and collapse—that’s why they offered him a ride out—they figured he would have a government in exile,” he said.

“He said: ‘I don’t need a ride, I need ammunition,’ and that really is how the fight began,” he said.

“They showed heavy commitment to defending their country, and that motivated people from around the world and across the United States to support them,” he said.

Davidson said diplomacy is the best way to resolve the war, yet the president and his team have sabotaged diplomacy.

“Even if you concede that the war could have been avoidable, it wasn’t avoided, and now Russia is occupying part of Ukraine, so how do we resolve that?” the congressman asked.

“The Biden administration has actively discouraged and disrupted diplomatic efforts even when Zelensky showed interest in diplomacy, but the failure from the administration has been consistent and enduring,” he said.

Davidson: Ukraine aid needs a standalone vote

Davidson said he believes that aid for Ukraine will be separate from the budget negotiations.

“I think the smart thing would be to give that as a standalone vote if it even comes to the floor,” he said.

The congressman said despite the money already approved in the Pentagon’s budget, known on Capitol Hill as the National Defense Authorization Act, and money already agreed to, the White House is looking for more.

“Part of the problem is we already set a top-line number, and the Biden administration wants to fund this separate from that—and a lot of us don’t believe that that should be done. This should be part of the agreed-upon number,” he said.

Davidson said it is hard for him to give a number for the amount of new U.S. aid to Ukraine he would support because the Biden administration has yet to establish a goal.

“There’s $300 billion in the NDAA budget, and if you want to look at it, my number can’t be set because I don’t know the mission,” he said.

“You can’t assign resources without knowing what exactly you’re trying to accomplish, and that’s been my point from the get-go; you tell me you need this many resources, tell me what mission you’re trying to accomplish,” he said.

Davidson said he is not ready to back expanding the war in Ukraine to overthrow Russian President Vladimir Putin and his government. “If what you’re trying to accomplish is regime change in Russia, you don’t have enough resources to do that.”

The congressman said his concerns about escalation are driving his aid skepticism, especially when he hears from Biden that Zelensky is getting a blank check for as long as it takes.

He said he is also concerned about the escalation of equipment heading to Ukraine.

“I think F-16s would be a big escalation, or I think tanks would be a big escalation or long-range missiles,” he said. “They keep slow-walking it in, so clearly, it is their intent to escalate it and expand the war.

The congressman’s own goal is simple: Keep the war from spreading into NATO countries, he said.

Davidson: Ohio Ukrainian-Americans asked him to support more Ukrainian aid

The congressman said there is a significant Ukrainian community in his district and Ohio, and they are urging him to support more military aid for the Zelensky government.

“They stopped by my office, and frankly, they wanted me to be more supportive of funding for Ukraine, and I shared my views,” he said.

“Some people understood it. I think some people respected it; certainly, some other people were somewhat angered by it and felt frustrated,” he said.

“Look, I get it. If you’re a Ukrainian, it’s easy to say: ‘I will do everything in my power to expel Russia from my country.’ I’m certainly not saying that it’s somehow just for Russia to take any part of Ukraine,” he said.

Davidson, who earned his MBA from Notre Dame University, said he suspects the real and unstated goal of the Biden administration is to evict Russian forces from all of Ukraine, which some people thought was possible at the start of the fighting, even if Biden did not.

Eighteen months later, the congressman said the Ukrainians did not get steamrolled by the Russians, and their government did not collapse. “They’ve gotten over 400,000 Ukrainians killed in combat by their own acknowledged estimates, so they’ve paid a very heavy cost to be where they are.”

The current stalemate is a win for Ukraine, but he said if Biden wants full-on expulsion, he needs to make that case.

“There aren’t enough resources in Ukraine for that to be accomplished, and the only way for that to be accomplished would be to expand the war,” he said.

Despite the relative success of the Ukrainian military, the congressman said he is still concerned that the war will get bigger before it gets smaller.

“The reality is they’re grinding down not just the Russian Army, but the Ukrainian army and more heavily the Ukrainian army and the country of Ukraine,” he said.

“Is there a way to move forward here that achieves what the Biden administration is holding out publicly as a promise, which is that somehow they can, without expanding the war, expel Russia from Ukraine?” he asked.

“If people really believe that, then I’d like to see the intelligence that makes ’em believe that,” the Ohioan said.

“I don’t think the American people support that. I’m not saying it would be unjust; I’m just saying I don’t think the American people support us being involved in that war.”
