Trump’s 2024 Campaign Makes Liftoff with Stops in New Hampshire and South Carolina

January 28, 2023 by Nick Gilbertson Leave a Comment

Former President Donald Trump visited the first two primary states, New Hampshire and South Carolina, on Saturday as his 2024 presidential campaign officially hit the trail.

Trump delivered the keynote address at the New Hampshire Republican Party’s annual meeting in Salem, New Hampshire, on Saturday morning.

“So we’re here, and we start, we begin,” said Trump at the top of his address, adding he was “thrilled to be back in this beautiful state.”‘

Trump announced New Hampshire GOP Chairman Steve Stepanaek, who co-chaired his first presidential campaign in the Granite State, would be “stepping down and… coming on board as the senior adviser for my New Hampshire campaign.” He also reaffirmed his advocacy for New Hampshire’s status as the first primary state in the nation, drawing strong applause from those in attendance, and he pledged to preserve it “for many, many years to come” if elected president.

“We’re going to turn New Hampshire red November 5, 2024,” asserted Trump, who recently polled three points ahead of President Joe Biden and remains the lone GOP candidate in the race.

CNN reported that he also bashed media, as many mainstream and legacy outlets and networks  like CNN have attempted to brand his campaign as being off to a “sluggish start,” as he has not held one of his trademark rallies.

“They said, ‘He’s not doing rallies, maybe he’s lost that step.’ I’m more angry now and I’m more committed now than I ever was,” Trump said, according to CNN’s Katie Sullivan, Gabby Orr, and Kristin Holmes.

However, Chris LaCivita noted earlier this month when speaking with Politico that it is very early in the campaign and added that “it would be kind of crazy to be spending huge amounts of money this far out.” For reference, the Iowa caucus remains twelve months away, and Trump did not even announce his first campaign for the presidency until June 2015 – seven months ahead of the Iowa caucus.

Additionally, Trump has put forth a number of videos laying out strong policy platforms on many issues, including a comprehensive plan to protect free speech, a vision to take on drug cartels in a fashion similar to the Islamic State, and a plan to protect America’s economic “Crown Jewels” from communist China. These videos have coincided with a substantial 15-point surge in his favorability since December, which was documented in a recent Economist/YouGov poll.

After his remarks in New Hampshire, the 45th president headed down to Columbia, South Carolina, where he held his first official campaign event and was flanked by early supporters Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Gov Henry McMaster (R-SC), and Rep Russell Fry (R-SC).

“I’m thrilled to be back in the great state of South Carolina, we won it twice by record numbers, and it’s just a real honor. It’s an incredible place,” said Trump after being introduced by Fry, the only freshman congressman to serve on the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees. “The famous saying goes, ‘South Carolina picks presidents.’”

“This campaign will be about the future. This campaign will be about issues, ” he later said. “Joe Biden has put America on the fast track to ruin and destruction, and we will ensure that he does not receive four more years.”

“The 2024 election is our one shot to save our country, and we need a leader who is ready to do that on day one. We need a fighter who can stand up to the left, who can stand up to the swamp, stand up to the media, stand up to the deep state … am I allowed to say stand up to the RINOs too?” Trump laughed.

Trump announced Graham and McMaster were heading his campaign’s leadership team in the Palmetto state, and the pair delivered remarks after he spoke.

“As you have noticed, this crowd loves you,” McMaster told Trump. “And that’s because we believe in common sense, we believe in the Declaration of Independence, we believe in the Consitution, we believe in the Bible, and we believe in you. ”

“Well, he did it once, he can do it again,” Graham told the crowd.

“How many times have you heard, ‘We like Trump policies, but we want somebody new?’ There are no Trump policies without Donald Trump,” Graham declared. ” I was there, you know why $400 billion was given by NATO nations? Because he asked, and they were afraid to say no.”

Ron DeSantis reportedly preparing for 2024 presidential run. A ‘more angry’ Donald Trump takes shot at ‘disloyal’ Florida governor.

January 28, 2023 by Paul Sacca Leave a Comment

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is reportedly preparing for a 2024 presidential run. At the same time, former President Donald Trump is taking shots at “disloyal” DeSantis for considering a potential run for the White House in 2024.

The Washington Post reported on Saturday, “Advisers to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis are actively preparing for a possible presidential run, according to two Republicans with knowledge of the conversations who described meetings and preliminary staffing moves — the latest indication that DeSantis is laying a foundation for a national campaign.”

The report claimed that the top dogs in the potential DeSantis 2024 campaign team have “already identified multiple potential hires in early primary states such as New Hampshire and Iowa.”

The political insider informed the outlet that Phil Cox and Generra Peck are part of the discussions about a 2024 run. Peck was the campaign manager for Ron’s dominant 2022 gubernatorial victory against Charlie Crist. Cox is a former executive director of the Republican Governors Association and was a senior-level adviser for the DeSantis reelection campaign.

Also on Saturday, Trump took a shot at DeSantis for even contemplating a 2024 presidential run during a campaign event at the statehouse in downtown Columbia, South Carolina.

“When I hear that he might [run] I think it’s very disloyal,” Trump said of DeSantis.

Trump accused DeSantis and his administration of “trying to rewrite history” regarding their COVID-19 pandemic response.

“There are Republican governors that did not close their states,” Trump told reporters while aboard his plane, according to CNN. “Florida was closed for a long period of time.”

“They’re trying to rewrite history,” Trump declared.

In March 2020, DeSantis signed an executive order closing bars and nightclubs. He also ordered restaurants to close their dining rooms and use take-out and delivery only.

The Republican Florida governor reopened the state completely in late September 2020. DeSantis also signed an order to protect businesses from local governments attempting to shut them down over mask mandate violations.

Trump also said DeSantis “changed his tune a lot” regarding the COVID-19 vaccines, adding that the Florida governor “promoted the vaccine as much as anyone.”

Trump brushed off the possibility of DeSantis beating him, “He won’t be leading, I got him elected. I’m the one that chose him.”

However, a University of New Hampshire poll released on Thursday showed that DeSantis (42%) led Trump (30%) by 12 points.

A Marquette Law School poll released on Thursday found that 45% of registered voters prefer DeSantis over 38% who prefer President Joe Biden in a hypothetical matchup. Meanwhile, Trump and Biden are deadlocked at 40%.

A Morning Consult poll from earlier this month showed Trump receiving 46% of the Republican primary vote versus 33% for DeSantis.

Trump endorsed DeSantis in 2018, and the then-congressman went on to narrowly beat Democratic darling, Andrew Gillum.

Earlier on Saturday, Trump made a stop in Salem, New Hampshire.

“This is it. We’re starting right here as a candidate for president,” Trump told members of the New Hampshire GOP at their annual meeting.

Trump dismissed the notion that he isn’t committed to running in 2024.

“They said, ‘He’s not doing rallies, he is not campaigning. Maybe he’s lost his step,'” Trump said, then added, “I’m more angry now, and I’m more committed now than I ever was.”

During the Columbia appearance, Trump touted endorsements from Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster.

Exclusive: Mike Pompeo on Trump Administration’s Killing of Iran Terror Chief Soleimani: ‘American Power Comes from Clarity and Action’

January 28, 2023 by Nick Gilbertson Leave a Comment

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo joined Breitbart News Saturday and recounted the lead-up to the Trump administration’s decision to kill Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani in January 2020, including the meeting with then-President Donald Trump to sign off on the successful drone strike.

At the top of the interview, host Matthew Boyle asked Pompeo to detail the lead-up to the decision detailed in his new book, Never Give an Inch: Fighting for the America I Love and covered in an exclusive by Breitbart News ahead of the book’s release last week.

“It’s the classic example of how I worked every day to put America First and what happens when you start to give an inch. We were starting to lose deterrence against the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism, the Iranians,” said Pompeo. “They were firing artillery into the American embassy in Baghdad, they had shot down two American UAVs in international airspace, so we were losing the central thesis of our foreign policy, which was to keep America secure, you have to deter the bad guys. And, so, we ultimately, through some work that I had done when I was CIA director with our partners in Israel, Mossad, and then some later efforts, we get this opportunity. Qasem Soleimani, the commander of what was known as the IRGC Quds Force, the external terror arm of Iran, had killed 500 Americans and was plotting to kill more, and all it came together. And he was traveling from Beirut to Damascus to Baghdad, and we got this chance, and we ultimately took a strike to make sure he never killed another American or an Israeli or anybody else.”

LISTEN:

Breitbart · Mike Pompeo – January 28, 2023

Pompeo then emphasized that the Trump Administration’s foreign policy team  “deterred the plot,” “convinced the Iranians to back off,” and the mission was done “against an establishment foreign policy that would have said you can’t do it.”

“Everybody’s known for decades Soleimani was a bad guy, that General Soleimani had killed 500 plus of our soldiers, sailors, airman, and marines, but they were too timid, and they didn’t want to defend the things that mattered,” Pompeo said. “And President Trump, combined with the work we did, we pushed back against the Washington establishment foreign policies and delivered security to the country. ”

Boyle then asked Pompeo to describe the meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago, where the 45th president was spending the holidays, on December 29, 2019.  The meeting included Defense Secretary Mark Esper, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley, and National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien, all of whom were behind the plan after Pompeo shared it with them ahead of the meeting.

“Oh my gosh, it was really something,” Pompeo said.

“Think about this: This is a handful of days before Covid begins to become something that the American people are thinking about, and we knew that we had this secret operation that we were briefing the president on,” he added. “We had told him about this before, it wasn’t brand new to him, so he had been briefed on various different alternatives, but, for the first time, we actually had the laydown – the actual model that could deliver the outcome. So we briefed him. We informed him of the risks. There were those who said, ‘The Iranians will attack us all over in America and Europe. They’ll attack American interests around the world,’ but we were convinced we laid the groundwork to prevent that.”

“And it was really something, when we were getting up to walk out, I reminded the president that the strike was going to be at Baghdad International Airport (BIAP) and that we had not taken a strike like this at a commercial airfield before, where there was commercial traffic. [Trump] basically turned to me and said, ‘Don’t F it up, don’t mess it up,’” Pompeo laughed. “And the good news is we didn’t. We got it right, we took out Soleimani, there was no collateral damage. We had convinced not only the Iranians but the Chinese and the North Koreans that we were serious about protecting the things that mattered and made a really — it was quite a briefing. We flew back here. It took us another three and half days to line it all up, and the mission was executed in early January of ’20.”

While recounting some of the backdoor diplomacy that preceded and followed the fatal strike on Soleimani, Pompeo noted that on January 7, 2020, Iran retaliated with strikes on Al-Assad Air Base in Iraq, which was hosting American troops, resulting in some servicemembers being injured, but no deaths.

“In the book, I write about a letter that we had transmitted to Soleimani previously making clear, ‘You got to stop this.’ And had we not backed up that with deeds, then we would have been in a really bad way that in the event when it came to be. We made clear to the Iranians that this was our strike. They responded after the strike at al-Assad where there were a handful of Americans injured, it breaks my heart, serious stuff, but it wasn’t World War III, and we didn’t end up with conflict — in fact, just the opposite,” said Pompeo. “That strike enabled what became the Abraham Accords because the Gulf Arab States came to say, ‘Hey Pompeo, Trump — these guys are serious about the things they promised, and they’re going to deliver.’”

“I was really troubled Nancy Pelosi wasn’t happy,” he added. “By the way, you can see comments from Joe Biden, he thought this was stupid as well. They just misunderstand American power. They think American power comes from deploying 40,000 somewhere across the world. American power comes from clarity and action, following up on the thing you’re going to do, and when we did that, they understood we were serious, and we did not get the blowback that they had feared. We were fundamentally right, and we created more strength and prosperity for the United States of American as a result of the strike that we took.”

David DePape confesses to hammer attack in interrogation audio, issues chilling new statement: ‘So sorry I didn’t get more of them’

January 28, 2023 by Paul Sacca Leave a Comment

David DePape issued a new chilling statement regarding the hammer attack on Paul Pelosi. DePape called a San Francisco news outlet to give what he described as an “important message for everyone in America.”

DePape called KTVU reporter Amber Lee from San Francisco County Jail on Friday to deliver a bizarre statement about the October attack on the husband of former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

“I have an important message for everyone in America: you’re welcome,” DePape said on the phone call lasting more than five minutes.

“Freedom and liberty isn’t dying, it’s being killed systematically and deliberately,” DePape said. “The people killing it have names and addresses. So I got their names and addresses so I could pay them a little visit. Have a heart-to-heart chat about their bad behavior.”

DePape does not issue an apology to the 82-year-old Pelosi – who needed emergency surgery for a fractured skull from the hammer attack. Instead, DePape stated, “I want to apologize to everyone. I messed up. What I did was really bad. I’m so sorry I didn’t get more of them. It’s my own fault. No one else is to blame. I should have come better prepared.”

DePape was upset that his website was shut down, but was attempting to set up a new website that was “out of the reach of tyrannical global fascists and their internet censors.”

The suspect allegedly would not allow questions because it could jeopardize his case.

(WARNING: Graphic content)

DePape in bizarre phone call to KTVU says he should have been ‘more prepared’: Full reportwww.youtube.com

On the same day DePape issued his statement, the police bodycam video of the violent hammer attack was released to the public.

San Francisco Superior Court Judge Stephen M. Murphy ordered the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office to also release investigative material related to the case. Included was the audio of the police interrogation of DePape conducted shortly after his arrest last year.

When asked if he knew why he was arrested, DePape responded, “Absolutely.”

DePape claimed that Democrats went on a “record-breaking crime spree.”

“They go from one crime to another crime to another crime, and it’s like the whole f***ing four years until they were finally able to steal the election,” DePape said of the 2020 election of Joe Biden over former President Donald Trump.

DePape revealed why he targeted Nancy Pelosi, “Day in and day out, the person that was on the TV lying every day was Pelosi.”

DePape told police that Pelosi hadn’t done anything to him “specifically,” but rather “to the American public honestly.” He added, “She was the leader of the pack.”

He admitted that he planned on taking Pelosi “hostage,” and would let her go if she “told the truth.”

“If she told the truth I’d let her go scot-free,” DePape said. “If she f***ing lied, I was going to break her kneecaps.”

However, he said Pelosi would lie “without a doubt.”

He added that “it originates” with former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

DePape said Paul Pelosi didn’t hear him smashing the glass door at his home. He found Pelosi in bed. He asked where Nancy Pelosi was. After Paul told him that his wife was in Washington, D.C., DePape decided to wait until Pelosi returned home.

DePape asked Pelosi if he would consent to him tying him up.

He told police, “I’m like, ‘Honestly, can I tie you up? I just want to f***ing go to sleep.'”

The suspect explained that he knew that Paul Pelosi was on a phone calling 911, and Pelosi was “pushing me into a corner where I have to do something.”

DePape knew police would come to the Pacific Heights home after the 911 call, but he couldn’t retreat because he was inspired by the “founding fathers.”

“They fought the British. They fought the tyranny, they didn’t just f***ing surrender to it. When I left my house I went to fight tyranny, I did not leave to go surrender,” DePape said.

DePape confessed to attacking Pelosi with a hammer during the police interrogation.

“I think he grabs the hammer so that I don’t hit him in retaliation (for the police showing up),” DePape admitted to police. “He thinks that I’ll just surrender. I didn’t come there to surrender. And I told (Paul Pelosi) that I will go through him.”

He continued, “So I basically yanked it away from him and hit him. I’m there for the fight. If you stop me from going after evil you will take the punishment instead.”

When asked if he regrets his actions, DePape responded, “No, it needed to be done.”

Klain: Reinstating Trump Is ‘Facebook’s Decision’ — It’s Important They ‘Monitor Incitements to Violence’ and Act

January 28, 2023 by Ian Hanchett Leave a Comment

On Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House,” outgoing White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain said it’s “Facebook’s decision” to reinstate former President Donald Trump’s access to Facebook and Instagram and stated that it’s important that “any of these platforms monitor incitements to violence and take action in response to those incitements.”

Host Nicolle Wallace asked, “The attack on Paul Pelosi I think really shattered not just people who know Speaker Pelosi and her…husband Paul Pelosi, but anyone in public life, because we live in a moment where political violence has been normalized in the way it’s talked about, polls reflect that a lot of people on the right think it is a reasonable means for carrying out an agenda, if nonviolent means don’t get you there. And Facebook has just said that it will put Donald Trump back on their platforms, Facebook and Instagram, really at a moment when it seems that our country doesn’t have this under control. In New Mexico, there’s a case involving a mastermind of four shootings, there’s the attack on Paul Pelosi and the threat seems everywhere. What are your thoughts about the decision to return Trump — one of the greatest purveyors of political misinformation the world over — to Facebook?”

Klain answered, “Well, that’s Facebook’s decision. And I think the important thing is that any of these platforms monitor incitements to violence and take action in response to those incitements. Look, I agree, Nicolle, one of the great challenges we have as a democracy is making sure that the rule of law and that the will at the ballot box are what decides questions in this country, not the rule of the mob and not violent acts. And that’s something President Biden spoke out very forcefully about before the last election. I think it’s one reason why Democrats did better than expected in last time’s midterms because I think a lot of voters in this country looked at the choice between the two parties and thought that some members of the Republican Party had just gotten too extreme. But there’s no place for political violence in our country, political violence of any variety, and I think it’s very important that responsible leaders in both parties continue to speak out about this and continue to say it’s just not the way we approach disputes in this country.”
