Democrats Worried Failed Stacey Abrams May Run for Office Again

March 20, 2023 by Paul Bois Leave a Comment

Democrats have expressed dismay behind closed doors about the prospect of two-time failed gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams throwing her hat in the ring for another run at office.

This past January, without specifying exactly what position she would run for, Abrams told Drew Barrymore on her daytime talk show that she will be back again.

“I will likely run again,” Abrams said. “If at first you don’t succeed, try try again. If it doesn’t work, you try again.”

Abrams seemed to reiterate this position when she told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) last week that she views political office as “one tool for the issues I am committed to tackling.”

Greg Bluestein of the AJC quoted several Democrats who feared another Abrams run would further tarnish the party’s brand in the purple state of Georgia.

“Interviews with more than three dozen Democratic officials, party leaders and activists suggest she may not have the same unified support she enjoyed after her first defeat to Kemp in 2018,” Bluestein wrote.

Chair of Monroe County’s Democratic Party Yvonne Stuart, for instance, said that while she appreciated Abrams’ fundraising and get-out-the-vote efforts, she felt another Democrat should run for office.

“I do believe there might be another charismatic Democrat that can take us all the way in 2026,” said Stuart.

“I believe that there are opportunities for others to step up to the plate and run for governor,” said David Ellis-Mendoza, the chair of the Bartow County Democrats

“The party needs to move forward. And going 0-3 isn’t a way to go forward. Does she really want to be the next Guy Millner?” former head of the Democratic Party of Georgia Bobby Kahn said.

Abrams saw her star power take a hit in December of last year for her poor financial management in the wake of her failure to unseat Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp.

As Breitbart News previously reported, Stacey Abrams raised over $100 million for her failed campaign but still found herself over $1 million in debt, prompting her to fire staff immediately after the November election. Democrats did not withhold their criticism of her financial decisions.

“It’s incredibly bad planning, and it shows where their values are at,” a senior Democratic official told Greg Bluestein of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “You can’t look up one day and realize you can’t pay the bills.”

Video shows road rage suspect allegedly fire 12 shots with toddler in car, hit driver and critically injure innocent bystander: ‘He was trying to kill me’

March 19, 2023 by Paul Sacca Leave a Comment

An apparent road rage incident in Georgia turned dangerous when a driver allegedly unleashed a barrage of gunfire while he had an infant in his vehicle.

Michael Gabriel was driving to a doctor’s appointment on Wednesday morning when another driver allegedly brake-checked him for possibly tailgating. Gabriel said the driver in front of him slammed on his brakes so hard that he was forced to swerve into the outside lane to avoid a collision.

Gabriel then pulled up next to the Ford Mustang on Ga. 365.

“He didn’t like getting flipped off,” Gabriel told The Times of Gainesville, Georgia.

The driver brake-checked Gabriel again. Then the Mustang driver got behind Gabriel and allegedly fired off three gunshots.

“He’s a little bit behind me, kind of diagonally,” Gabriel explained. “So I look back and that’s when I saw his window coming down, the gun coming out. Pow! Pow! Pow!”

A bullet pierced his back window, traveled through his car seat, and tore into his right shoulder.

Gabriel told WSB-TV, “There wasn’t a warning shot. He was trying to kill me.”

Gabriel pulled out his smartphone to take a video and capture the license plate number on the Mustang. However, when he got near the Mustang, he dropped his phone as nine more gunshots rang out. The alleged gunman got out of his car and reportedly fired on Gabriel’s SUV.

During the second shooting, a bullet struck Gabriel in the lower back.

“Had that back shot had any more power, or if the trajectory had been any different, if that seat hadn’t — if it wasn’t built exactly like it was, that could have took out a lot of my organs,” Gabriel said. “It could have been game over.”

Gabriel called the police. He was rushed to the hospital and released later that day.

“It took a serious hand to God to keep me alive and here today,” Gabriel said.

However, a 65-year-old innocent bystander was not so lucky. Paula Kay Blackwell was “caught in the crossfire,” according to Lt. Kevin Holbrook of the Gainesville Police Department. Blackwell was shot in the kidney and was in critical condition as of Thursday, police said.

Video shows Gabriel’s Chevrolet Tahoe riddled with bullet holes.

Gainesville police arrested 26-year-old Steven Dallas Cooper. He was charged with aggravated battery, criminal attempt to commit murder, criminal damage to property, reckless conduct, and aggravated assault. Cooper is being held without bond in Hall County Jail.

Cooper had a 2-year-old child in the backseat of the car during the alleged shooting, according to police.

Gabriel’s advice for future road rage situations, “It’s so not worth this. If someone makes you mad, wave at them and say a prayer for them.”

14-year-old girl rescued from sex trafficking scheme at Georgia Walmart, police say

March 16, 2023 by Paul Sacca Leave a Comment

A 14-year-old girl was rescued from a sex trafficking operation in Georgia, according to local police. Two men were arrested in connection with the sex crime and charged with sex trafficking.

On Feb. 22, police were called to a Walmart in Gwinnett County over reports of a physical fight that broke out. While at the Walmart, a 14-year-old girl pleaded for help from a police officer. The young girl “in distress” reportedly told the police officer that she had been held against her will for nearly two weeks.

“The victim disclosed to the officers she was sex-trafficked and was being held at 164 Maddox Street in apartment J and K,” a Lawrenceville Police Department detective testified in court, according to WSB-TV.

“She remembers waking up and being tied to a tub,” Det. Bratic said. “She remembers being forced to have sex with multiple men.”

The teen allegedly ran away from her home in Cobb County. The girl was reported missing after she ran away from home.

Bratic told the court that the alleged human trafficking victim met Trevin Nicholas on a social media app called Tagged — a social network for “meeting new people.” She was reportedly drugged and sex-trafficked for nearly two weeks.

Investigators discovered an online ad for sex that used the photo of the 14-year-old girl.

Bratic stated, “The phone number linked to one of those ads was found on the couch in apartment K.”

Police arrested Nicholas and Trey Trevillion. Both Georgia men were charged with sex trafficking.

Police are reportedly still searching for another man who they believe could be involved in the sex trafficking scheme.

The young girl was returned to her home, where she will reportedly receive emotional support.

According to data from the National Human Trafficking Hotline, Atlanta is ranked as the second-most city in the U.S. for tips about human trafficking per capita between Dec. 7, 2007, and Dec. 31, 2016.

Stacey Abrams’ nonprofit sides with alleged domestic terrorists, demands ‘justice’ for man accused of shooting Georgia trooper

March 8, 2023 by Joseph MacKinnon Leave a Comment

Following a weekend of terror in DeKalb County, a nonprofit founded by twice-failed gubernatorial candidate and election denier Stacey Abrams sided with the out-of-state extremists who pelted police with firebombs and rocks, demanding “justice” for a leftist militant accused of shooting a Georgia state trooper in the gut.

The New Georgia Project and New Georgia Project Action Fund, which previously sought to help Abrams in her pursuit of power, posted calls to action on social media Tuesday, stating, “This Thursday, March 9th at 6 pm ET, NGPAF activists and partners will be in Atlanta marching to #StopCopCity as part of the National Day of Action Against Police Terror.”

The accompanying poster demands justice for Tyre Nichols and “Tortuguita.”

TheBlaze previously reported that the dead leftist whom NGP now seeks “justice for,” Tortuguita or Manuel Esteban Paez Terán, was fatally shot by law enforcement on Jan. 18 after he allegedly fired multiple shots at officers without warning, striking a Georgia State Patrol trooper in the gut.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation noted that law enforcement officers were conducting a coordinated operation to “identify people who were trespassing and committing other crimes on the future Atlanta Public Safety Training Center,” a center dubbed “Cop City” by radicals.

When clearing out a wooded area near Constitution Road, troopers came across Terán, who was camped out where just a month earlier, six leftists had been arrested and charged with domestic terrorism.

According to the GBI, officers gave verbal commands to the man. Instead of complying, he allegedly opened fire and was then fired upon.

In addition to demonstrating in support of a trespasser who reportedly died while trying to slaughter police officers, Abrams’ New Georgia Project and the New Georgia Project Action Fund are championing the cause of accused terrorists.

Twenty-three leftist extremists were reportedly charged with domestic terrorism after barraging police with rocks and incendiary devices Sunday at the site of the planned Atlanta Public Safety Training Center in Dekalb County’s South River Forest.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, a group of violent agitators used the demonstration as cover to launch a “coordinated attack” on construction equipment and began lobbing “large rocks, bricks, Molotov cocktails, and fireworks at police officers.”

Among the 35 people arrested Sunday, many were from out of state, and some were even from outside the United States, reported CNN.

Atlanta Police Department officials underscored Sunday night, “This is not a protest. … This wasn’t about a public training center; this was about anarchy.”

“I strongly believe in the right to peacefully protest for what one believes is right and just,” said District Attorney Sherry Boston of Dekalb County. “However, I draw the line at violence, destruction of property and threatening and causing harm to others.”

Republican Gov. Brian Kemp said the violent activists responsible for the attacks “chose destruction and vandalism over legitimate protest, yet against demonstrating the radical intent behind their actions.”

“Domestic terrorism will NOT be tolerated in this state,” said the Georgia governor in a statement. “As we continue to respect peaceful protest, we will also continue to ensure safety in our communities. We will not rest until those who use violence and intimidation for an extremist end are brought to justice.”

Whereas the governor seeks to bring violent leftists to justice, Abrams’ nonprofit wants them to escape it.

The NGP’s Mobilize.us event posting suggests that the anti-police march, expected to be up to three miles long, will begin at King Center and end at the Atlanta University Center campus “after dark,” adding, “Make sure to wear or bring whatever you need to feel safe and strong and to make post-march transportation plans accordingly.”

NGP and the NGPAF, both led by CEO Kendra Davenport Cotton — previously managing director of Planned Parenthood Southeast — will be joined by other leftist and identitarian organizations such as Black Voters Matter in supporting the violent anti-police cause.

In addition to apparent cop hatred, NGP was in the news recently for its “financial irregularities.”

The Washington Free Beacon reported late last month that Georgia’s secretary of state has opened an investigation into possible improprieties behind the scenes of Abrams’ organization.

NGP and the NGPAF have reportedly raised $54.7 million since 2020. Despite this flow of cash, Fox News Digital noted that NGP applied for and received a $482,000 Paycheck Protection Program loan in May 2020, despite having gathering $24.5 million in contributions and cash that year.

While stacking donations and grabbing COVID loans, its executive reportedly pocketed a pay raise of $69,345.

According to the Beacon, the organization also raised eyebrows with a “half-million-dollar consulting payment to a charity run in part by the brother of former New Georgia Project CEO Nsé Ufot, who was later fired for undisclosed reasons,” as well as the claim that it paid zero payroll taxes in 2020.
