Couple stole identities of dead babies, husband enlisted with US Coast Guard and worked as defense contractor under false name: Report

July 28, 2022 by Cortney Weil Leave a Comment

A couple in Hawaii have been charged with identity theft and conspiring against the government for allegedly stealing the identities of dead babies born more than a decade after they were. Using the allegedly stolen identities, the husband was even able to obtain security clearance as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard and work as a defense contractor.

According to federal court documents filed in Hawaii, Walter Glenn Primrose and Gwynn Darle Morrison, both born in Texas in 1955, assumed the names Bobby Edward Fort and Julie Lyn Montague in 1987 for reasons unknown, except that they may have foreclosed on a house earlier that same year. Though married under their given names in 1980, the couple remarried under their assumed names in 1988 and secured various other legal identification documents, including passports and birth certificates, which allowed Primrose to join the U.S. Coast Guard in 1994.

Primrose also owned a passport under his birth name, and prosecutors allege that the couple have other aliases as well.

The couple have lived in a modest house on the island of Oahu since at least 2016, when Primrose left the Coast Guard and began working with an unnamed defense contractor at the U.S. Coast Guard Air station at Barbers Point, about a half-hour drive from Honolulu. The couple also owned another home nearby, which they rented to members of the military.

A neighbor claimed that she had always known them as Bob and Lynn.

“They kept to themselves, but they were friendly,” Mai Ly Schara said. “They just kind of were, like, a little nerdy.”

Schara also claimed that Primrose did some yard work for her and that Morrison tutored local children and took care of several cats and rabbits.

But for the families of the deceased children whose identities were supposedly stolen, Primrose and Morrison are hardly harmless.

“I still can’t believe it happened,” said John Montague, father of little Julie Lyn Montague, who died in Texas in 1968 at just three weeks old. “The odds are like one in a trillion that they found her and used her name. People stoop to do anything nowadays. Let kids rest in peace.”

“I’m glad my mama’s with the Lord,” Tonda Ferguson, Montague’s daughter, said. “This would be so traumatic for her.”

Little Bobby Edward Fort died three months prior to Julie Lyn Montague. Both died at the same Texas hospital and are buried 14 miles apart.

In addition to stealing the identities of Bobby and Julie, prosecutors also hint that Primrose and Morrison may have Soviet and/or communist ties, submitting faded Polaroids of the two wearing KGB uniforms and alleging that Morrison spent time in Romania while it was still under Soviet control. They have also requested that they be held without bail, claiming that the two are a flight risk.

A bail hearing was scheduled for Thursday.

“[Morrison] wants everyone to know she’s not a spy,” attorney Megan Kau said. “This has all been blown way out of proportion. It’s government overreaching.”

7-Eleven employee allegedly severs man's hand with sword in store parking lot: 'Half his hand was on the floor'

July 26, 2022 by Cortney Weil Leave a Comment

A 46-year-old 7-Eleven employee in Honolulu, Hawaii, is facing attempted murder charges after he allegedly severed a man’s hand with a sword in his store’s parking lot just after midnight on Friday morning.

According to court documents, Jason Walker allegedly attacked the victim, an unidentified 40-year-old man, using a sword approximately three to four feet in length. Not only did Walker reportedly sever the man’s left hand, but he also allegedly mutilated the man’s right hand and wounded him in the stomach. Last known reports state that the victim’s condition remains critical.

Michael Suissa, a visitor from Switzerland, was at the Waikiki store at the time and witnessed the assault.

“The victim started to shout and to cry, and then I look at him on the floor and I saw that half his hand was on the floor. The guy ran to the side of the door, and he fell there on the floor,” Suissa told reporters.

Suissa said that the perpetrator then fled the scene and ran into a nearby hotel, where police ultimately apprehended him. Officers claim that Walker had blood on his shoes when he was taken into custody.

Suissa said he was able to identify the assailant because the man had waited on him at the store a couple of times and had been friendly to him.

“He served me twice for the last two days. He was very nice. He was very kind. … I was shocked that someone like that does something so horrible,” Suissa said.

A store security guard also stated that Walker and the victim had previously gotten into arguments and that he was afraid that tensions between the two men might eventually escalate into violence, Hawaii News Now reports.

The AP claims that when reporters contacted the store, they were unable to speak with any employee who had been working during the time of the alleged incident and that the 7-Eleven corporate office in Hawaii did not return calls for comment.

Walker appeared in court Monday morning, and his bail has been set at $400,000.

Marine stabbed pregnant ex-wife to death on Hawaii highway as motorists tried to stop murder, police say

July 23, 2022 by Paul Sacca Leave a Comment

A pregnant woman was stabbed to death by her ex-husband on the side of a highway in Hawaii, according to police. Motorists allegedly attempted to stop the Marine from fatally stabbing his ex-wife.

Dana Alotaibi, 27, and U.S. Marine Bryant Tejada Castillo, 29, were driving on the H-3 highway when the couple reportedly got into an argument on Wednesday. Their car was pulled over to the shoulder around 6:20 p.m., according to witnesses.

Eyewitnesses observed a “male standing over a female, stabbing her multiple times,” said Deena Thoemmes, homicide lieutenant of the Honolulu Police Department’s criminal investigation division.

“It has been determined that the victim and the male were married, and had recently been going through marital problems,” Thoemmes said. “At the time of the incident, they were arguing before he stabbed her multiple times that caused her fatal injuries.”

Multiple motorists purportedly stopped their cars and attempted to stop the suspect from stabbing the woman.

The suspect allegedly fled into the woods. Police pursued the suspect, and as they moved in, the man allegedly stabbed himself with the same knife he reportedly used to stab his former wife. Police apprehended the suspect. Castillo was taken to the hospital for his self-inflicted injuries.

Concerned bystanders attempted to provide medical treatment to Alotaibi at the crime scene.

An unnamed witness told KITV, “You know obviously when we’re doing CPR there’s no pulse, they didn’t get a pulse the whole time, and it was just her face, she just looked past the point of no return, you know.”

“Could you imagine being stabbed in the neck and then watching as your life just literally leaks out of you, and everyone around you either doesn’t know what to do, or is too shocked to do anything about it, I couldn’t imagine that,” he added.

Alotaibi was taken to a local hospital but was pronounced dead at 8:31 p.m. at the Adventist Health Castle Medical Center.

The Honolulu Police Department and the Department of the Prosecutors’ Office domestic violence team are investigating if there was prior abuse.

Castillo was assigned to the 3rd Littoral Combat Team at Marine Corp Base Hawaii in Kaneohe.

The Marine Corps issued a statement to KITV:

The Marine Corps is aware of a tragic incident that occurred yesterday evening (July 20, 2022) allegedly involving a US Marine currently assigned to the 3rd Littoral Combat Team. Our understanding is that the Marine is currently in the custody of the Honolulu Police Department as their investigation continues, but has not been formally charged. The 3rd Marine Littoral Regiment and Marine Corps Base Hawaii will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement officials as the details surrounding this incident unfold. The Marine Corps extends its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of those involved.

Alotaibi and Castillo had been married for nearly three years, but had been separated and not living together any longer. Castillo had filed for divorce in November, and it was granted by a court last month, according to court documents.

Alotaibi talked about her divorce in a YouTube video published on July 12, but revealed a dispute over a joint-owned vehicle. She also said the military could be sending her back home to Virginia. She also said he threatened to kill her.

Friends of Alotaibi told Hawaii News Now that she was 13 weeks pregnant with her current boyfriend’s baby.

The victim’s mother Natalia Cespedes told KITV, “It’s so sad, it’s very sad, because we have our plans for everything.”

“Just want to know my daughter has plans to come back to Virginia, make her life, live with her kid because she was pregnant, so we get everything ready for her to come back,” Cespedes said. “Was feeling so sad. Look, my life is empty. I really want to, I really had planned for here for my grandbaby, and I think how they’re dead has been very troubling.”

Alotaibi leaves behind her parents and three sisters.

“Only I can pray to bring, I want to bring my daughter home, that was the plan,” Cespedes said.

Castillo’s bail is set at $1 million.
