GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Youngkin: Reopening Schools, ‘Right to Work’ Will Swing Northern Virginia Democrats

April 14, 2021 by Ashley Oliver Leave a Comment

Virginia Republican gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin expects to win over voters in the heavily blue Northern Virginia region based on the “universal issues” of reopening schools and protecting the state’s Right to Work status, Youngkin told host Alex Marlow on Tuesday’s edition of Sirius XM’s Breitbart News Daily.

Northern Virginia is home to a high concentration of Democrat voters, particularly in Fairfax County — the most populous county in the state — which voted for President Joe Biden over former President Donald Trump in the 2020 election, 70 percent to 28 percent.

Marlow observed that Northern Virginia’s proximity to Washington, DC, has made the region prone to “swamp expansion.” He asked Youngkin, who is vying for the Republican nomination for governor which will be decided on May 8, “How do you contend as a Republican in a state that is increasingly becoming a subsidiary of Washington?”

Youngkin replied, “There are universal issues right now that are not political, and opening schools is absolutely one of them. The other one is not losing our status as a Right to Work state.”

Listen:

Right to Work is a protection several states, including Virginia, have for employees so they are not forced to join unions. Notably, Biden’s infrastructure plan currently making its way through Congress includes a provision that would erode this protection in the states that do have it.

Youngkin, former co-CEO of the Carlyle Group, explained, “This, in the business community, is universally supported to stay Right to Work and not allow a Democrat governor to sign legislation that will come out of a Democrat House and signed in a Democrat Senate in order to give up our Right to Work, which, oh, by the way, is just a death knell for a business climate, and so there are absolutely big picture topics that are universally supported by Virginians, not just Republicans.”

He added that swinging a “reasonable chunk” of voters in Northern Virginia based on such universal issues would be enough for a Republican gubernatorial candidate to have a fighting chance at winning in November following the party failing to win at the state level for more than a decade.

“Mathematically, we can win a reasonable chunk of Northern Virginia back,” Youngkin contended. “We don’t have to win fully Northern Virginia, 51 percent. We just have to get her back from the 70–30 to close to 60–40, and then with the strength that we have across our red counties, and, oh, by the way, the strength we’re seeing in Hampton Roads and suburban Richmond, we’re going to win this November.”

Current Gov. Ralph Northam (D) is term limited and cannot seek reelection this year. His predecessor, former Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D), has emerged as the frontrunner for the party, while in the crowded Republican field, prominent candidates alongside Youngkin include former Virginia Speaker Kirk Cox, entrepreneur Pete Snyder, and the embattled state Sen. Amanda Chase.

Youngkin, who stepped down from Carlyle after 25 years to run for governor, has faced scrutiny amid his bid for office over a letter he wrote as co-CEO of the private equity corporation in May in which he encouraged employees to donate to the far-left Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) in the wake of nationwide Black Lives Matter protests and riots.

While Youngkin’s campaign was adamant in a response to Breitbart News in March that he personally never donated to the group and that “other people at Carlyle supported it but Glenn never did,” Youngkin added to his explanation about it to Marlow, saying he “missed” the SPLC in the list of the three organizations on the letter.

“I’ve never given any money to SPLC, and in the process of putting together a list for organizations that Carlyle would match, I reviewed the list,” Youngkin said. “I knocked organizations off the list like BLM, which I didn’t think fit, and as the list progressed, I just missed the SPLC, and so if I could read the letter a third or fourth time, I would have not missed it, but I missed it, and so I own that. I was the co-CEO at the time, and there’s no excuse. I just missed it, and if I could do it all over again, I wouldn’t miss it.”

He added that he and his wife, Suzanne, are longtime donors to Christian charities and Republican candidates and organizations and that the SPLC is antithetical to his values.

“It’s my mistake, and I’ll own it,” he said. “That’s the way I address things. This is not consistent with my values and Suzanne’s values. We are Christians, we’re conservatives, and we’re Republicans, and, oh, by the way, in that order.”

Ellie Cohanim: Israeli Attack on Iranian Nuclear Facility Is Reaction to Biden Iran Policy

April 14, 2021 by Robert Kraychik Leave a Comment

Israel’s alleged attack on a nuclear enrichment facility in Iran was likely a reaction to the Biden administration’s policy towards Iran, Ellie Cohanim, former State Department Deputy Special Envoy to Combat Anti-Semitism, said on Tuesday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow, author of Breaking the News: Exposing the Establishment Media’s Hidden Deals and Secret Corruption.

The Times of Israel reported:

An Iranian official has acknowledged that Sunday’s blast at Iran’s Natanz nuclear enrichment facility, which has been attributed to Israel, took out the plant’s main electrical power system and its backup.

“From a technical standpoint, the enemy’s plan was rather beautiful,” Fereydoon Abbasi Davani, the head of the Iranian parliament’s energy committee, told Iranian state television on Monday.

Cohanim said, “To understand the context of what would drive Israel to a move like this, [recall that] last week the United States and Russia, China, and the European powers met in Vienna to reengage the Iranian regime in what was previously called the Iran Deal, the JCPOA, and the problem with that is that Iran’s neighbors have asked for a seat at the table, Iran’s neighbors being Israel, Saudi Arabia, the Gulf and Sunni Arab countries.”

“The region is rejecting the U.S. and European powers reengaging Iran in a deal that would give it a nuclear bomb at some point,” she remarked. “I think that Israel’s hand was pressed, plus and Israelis felt no choice but to attack this nuclear facility in Iran.”

Cohanim warned that “Iran’s proxies” in the Middle East — Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Houthis in Yemen — drive “instability” across the region through terrorism.

“Iran is number-one state sponsor of terrorism in the world,” she added.

“Let’s not forget also that American troops have been killed by Iranian proxy activity as well. And so, the region is rejecting the U.S. and European powers reengaging Iran in a deal that would give it a nuclear bomb at some point,” she said.

LISTEN:

Cohanim stated, “The Biden administration [was] handed a Middle East on a silver platter [by] the Trump administration that was just a completely different region from when Obama left,” Cohanim stated. “The new Middle East that the Trump administration created, first of all, has an Iran that has been completely weakened by the Trump administration’s maximum pressure campaign.”

“Iran [was left with] an economy in tatters, a currency that’s practically valueless, and a people that have risen up in protests to the streets to question the legitimacy of the government over and over again,” she continued. “Millions of people have gone out to protest.”

She said, “The Biden administration also inherited a Middle East where countries are moving towards peace and normalization with Israel. So we saw the signing of the Abraham Accords with the United Arab Emirates, then Bahrain, Sudan, then Morocco, all these Muslim-Arab countries establishing diplomatic ties with Israel, a warm peace.”

The Biden administration declared intentions to restore the Obama administration’s Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) — popularly referred to as “the Iran Deal” — which would facilitate Iran’s development and acquisition of nuclear weapons, Cohanim held.

“The Biden administration is trying to reverse the clock back to the Obama administration,” she said. “They’re kind of pretending that the Trump years did not take place. … There is truly nothing to be gained by that because the Iranian regime has shown itself over and over again to just be the cause of instability and violence and terror. So this is not a regime that should be put on the pathway to a nuclear bomb.”

Cohanim concluded, “I think the Israelis feel that they have no choice, and behind them supporting that is Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates. All those Sunni-Arab states that are also being threatened by Iran are completely supportive of these Israeli moves.”

Exclusive – Ken Starr: Homeschooling Can Undo Anti-American Public School Curriculum

April 13, 2021 by Robert Kraychik Leave a Comment

Civics-based homeschooling can protect religious freedom and combat anti-American curriculum, former U.S. Solicitor General Ken Starr, author of Religious Liberty in Crisis: Exercising Your Faith in an Age of Uncertainty Hardcover, advised on Monday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with Alex Marlow, author of Breaking the News: Exposing the Establishment Media’s Hidden Deals and Secret Corruption.

“There has been a collapse of civic education in the United States,” Starr held. “We and my generation have allowed the collapse. Shame on us.”

Marlow described the degradation of civic education in America as part of a design.

“I think, fundamentally, it was intentional,” he said. “I think that this is how the authoritarians get power, and the left — not everyone, but a lot of them — have authoritarian streaks and, in general, that they would love to see a citizenry that is less informed [and] less powerful, and that makes the central government more powerful.”

Starr replied, “I live in Texas, we’ve allowed a collapse of civic education. You’re right, there are very sinister courses out there, but we can’t just sit and be Cassandra-like and cry, ‘Oh, we allowed a collapse.’ We’ve got to now do something better. I am personally involved — but everyone needs to be involved — in how we restore civic education.”

He continued, “Here’s one of the things we can do. Parents and grandparents today can engage in — just like Abraham Lincoln, doggone it, like Robert Jackson of the Supreme Court of the 20th century — we teach ourselves. It’s called homeschooling, supplemental schooling. Even if your child and grandchild is sent to public schools and not getting civic education or maybe getting the wrong kind of civic education.”

LISTEN:

Many children are being instructed that “[America] is a bad country” and “an evil country” via public curriculum, Starr noted.

“We as parents and grandparents can say, ‘Okay, I’m going step in,’ and there are tools available, and I want my book to be one of those tools and a voice of hope, but not just, ‘Oh, hope spring eternal,’ but here are the reasons that you can give in the public debate, or you can give your child or grandchild.”

Starr described Religious Liberty in Crisis as an asset for those seeking to learn about the American principle of religious liberty. The book will further help readers “carry out intelligent conversations” through which they can persuade others to protect First Amendment protection of freedom of religion, he added.

“The first 16 words of the First Amendment [ensure] that we have this first freedom of humanity, the freedom to believe and act on those beliefs,” Starr stated. “We believe — in this country — in freedom of conscience.”

Starr described his book as timely given various lockdown and shutdown degrees — ostensibly issued by authorities to protect public health — targeting churches, synagogues, and other religious institutions and events.

Exclusive — Rep. Scott Perry: Biden ‘Infrastructure’ Plan Would Create ‘Soviet-Style’ American Economy

April 12, 2021 by Robert Kraychik Leave a Comment

President Joe Biden’s American Jobs Plan — marketed as an “infrastructure” proposal by Democrats — would create a “Soviet-style economy” if enacted as law, Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) said on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Sunday with host Joel Pollak.

Perry said the Biden administration’s proposal to spend $10 billion to create a “Civilian Climate Corps” and $20 billion to advance “racial equity” and “environmental justice” do not qualify as “infrastructure.”

“This is not infrastructure,” he determined. “This is the same bait and switch that the Democrats always do when the current definition of theft or malfeasance doesn’t sit well with the American people, and so they just change the definition. In this case, most Americans support infrastructure investment and spending.”

He added, “[The Biden administration is] not interested in infrastructure, either. This is all forcing us into an economy and a lifestyle that the liberals demand that we accept and embrace, even though we don’t want to. This is more of them governing it against the will of the American people.”

LISTEN:

Democrats and their political allies are deceptively marketing the American Jobs Plan as “infrastructure,” Perry noted. “Of course, they’re calling it ‘infrastructure,’ because when most people [hear] ‘infrastructure,’ they think, rightly so, of things made of concrete and steel and those type of things.”

Perry warned China would be a beneficiary of the American Jobs Plan, if implemented.

Pollak noted the Biden administration’s push for government support of electric vehicles would increase American dependence on Chinese production of rare-earth minerals.

“We need materials for [electric] cars that China has a lock on,” Pollak remarked, “And we don’t have the batteries yet being produced in this country to meet the demand the Biden administration is talking about, so when you force people or push people to go electric, you’re going to be helping China. We can’t produce all of those materials for those cars here, now.”

He added, “This seems to be exactly what the Chinese Communist Party would have wanted. It’s going to require us to import all these things [and] set American manufacturing workers aside in favor of Chinese producers.”

Perry responded, “All this battery technology and all [of its] supply chain all leads right back to China, and furthermore, unfortunately, child labor and slave labor, whether it’s slave labor itself in China or whether it’s the child’s slave labor happening in the cobalt mines in Africa that are run by the Chinese.”

“[China’s] supply chain encompasses almost all [the global supply] of rare-earth minerals,” he added. “Now, I will tell you they’re not rare, but for the fact that in America, because of the laws and regulations — especially environmental regulations — we don’t mine them. We’re not allowed to get them and it’s too cost-prohibitive. So not only do we have to go to China to get this stuff, but it puts our workers but keeps our workers out of business.”

So-called “green energy” policies, Perry noted, undermine American energy production.

We’re shutting down baseload power that’s made by fossil fuel sources, and it’s making the cost [of energy] go up,” Perry remarked. You saw what happened in Texas and California, what happens on a regular basis because of mismanagement and requirements for renewable energy production,”

China is a global leader of “green energy” products, Perry noted. “All that green new energy production, that stuff all comes from China. … So the Chinese are very happy about all this, because we’re going to overload the grid. At the same, simultaneously, we’re going to imperil the grid and make it less capable to withstand not only what it does now, but what’s coming to it as a function of this requirement, and by the way, what we do have to buy is all coming from China.”

Perry concluded, “It’s literally paying the people that are going to hang you to make the noose. That’s exactly what America is doing right now based on liberal policies regarding energy.”

GOP's Derrick Van Orden: I Will Send 'Swamp Dweller' Democrat Ron Kind Home with a Cardboard Box

April 11, 2021 by Sean Moran Leave a Comment

Wisconsin Republican Derrick Van Orden said in an interview with Breitbart News Saturday that he will send “quintessential swamp dweller” Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI) packing home in 2022 with a cardboard box.

Breitbart News Saturday host Matthew Boyle spoke to Van Orden as the Wisconsin Republican and former Navy SEAL announced this week that the will run in Wisconsin’s third congressional district to oust Kind.

Van Orden noted the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) listed Kind as one of their most vulnerable Democrats, and the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has listed the district as one of their most flip-able districts.

He added that he was “within a hair’s breadth a beating” Kind during the 2020 congressional elections.

Van Orden said Kind and the Democrat attacks against him prove he has a strong chance of defeating the Wisconsin Democrat in 2022.

The Republican added he is so confident he will defeat Kind in 2022 that he would send him home with a cardboard box.

“I will be mailing Ron Kind a cardboard box so he can get stuff out of my desk, and it’ll be ready for me to move in when I beat him in 2022,” Van Orden told Breitbart News Saturday.

Boyle asked how Kind can serve in Congress for 24 years and still keep getting reelected.

“He’s a fantastic politician and horrible statesmen,” Van Orden responded.

He noted when Kind first ran for office, he “vowed” to never serve in office for more than 12 years.

“That was 24 years ago,” Van Orden said.

He continued, “He told everyone that he would not vote for Obamacare; he did. He told everybody that he would not support impeachment of Donald Trump; he did. He told everybody he would not vote for Nancy Pelosi’s speakership again; he did. He lied to all 18 of our county sheriffs last year, saying that he would never vote for a bill that removed protections for police officers, failing to mention that nine days before that conference call, he had co-sponsored the bill.”

“He has been the quintessential swamp dweller,” Van Orden said. “His actions have proven this over and over again.”
