Tim Allen fires back at Pamela Anderson over allegation of impropriety before TV show filming: ‘All of us at Disney/ABC, really’

January 31, 2023 by Chris Enloe Leave a Comment

“She was a great co-worker, I’ll tell you that. She’s a fun girl. Everybody loved her, but everybody at ABC is a little disappointed in her … memory, put it that way,” he told the Daily Mail last week. “All of us at Disney/ABC, really.”

By contrast, when Allen was asked if his memory is good, he responded, “Yeah.” In effect, then, Allen is accusing Anderson of misremembering something that he says never happened.

What is the background?

The alleged incident, which Anderson revealed in her memoir that was released on Tuesday, would have taken place in 1991 before the taping of the “Home Improvement” pilot episode.

Prior to taping, Anderson alleged that Allen flashed her. She wrote in her book, according to Variety:

On the first day of filming, I walked out of my dressing room, and Tim was in the hallway in his robe. He opened his robe and flashed me quickly — completely naked underneath. He said it was only fair, because he had seen me naked. Now we’re even. I laughed uncomfortably.

After the allegation surfaced last week, Allen denied that it ever happened.

“No, it never happened. I would never do such a thing,” he told Variety.

His pushback, however, did not stop Anderson from doubling down.

“This true story is just one of many surreal and uncomfortable situations I learned to navigate,” Anderson later said in a statement. “My book goes into how it made me feel over the course of my life and, in this case, my career. I have no ill will toward Tim. But like the rest, it should never have happened.”

Anything else?

In yet another interview, this time with Variety, Anderson appeared to defend Allen, though she did not retract her allegations.

“Tim is a comedian, it’s his job to cross the line. I’m sure he had no bad intentions,” she said. “Times have changed, though. I doubt anyone would try that post-#MeToo. It’s a new world.”

Married exec claims he was fired by woke Google for not being ‘inclusive’ in aftermath of molestation at hands of Asian female executive

January 31, 2023 by Joseph MacKinnon Leave a Comment

A married, 48-year-old New Jersey father of seven is suing Google, claiming he was fired after rejecting the unwanted sexual advances of a senior female director at the company.

Ryan Olohan’s suit alleges that he was not only molested by his coworker, but that the company subsequently downplayed his concerns both about the incident and the rejected woman’s alleged retaliation, in part because he is a white male.

u201cLarge families are “environmental terrorism”? Our 7 children are loved, happy, healthy, and make the world (and our environment) better. Do you?u201d

— Ryan Olohan (@Ryan Olohan)
1600277436

Searching for accountability

Ryan Olohan worked at the company for 16 years until his termination on Aug. 5, 2022. His new lawsuit notes that a Google Employee Investigations Team chalked up his exit to a failure to be “inclusive” and to showing “favoritism towards high performers.”

Apparently Olohan’s favoritism did not extend to Tiffany Miller, director of Google’s programmatic media and agency partnerships.

According to the suit, which names Miller and Google as defendants, Miller drunkenly molested Olohan at a New York City restaurant in December 2019 during an event hosted by Adam Stewart, vice president of consumer, government, and entertainment at Google.

“At the dinner, Miller approached Olohan and rubbed his stomach,” says the court documents. “While rubbing his stomach, Miller told Olohan that he had ‘such a nice body.'”

Miller is alleged to have made additional advances, suggesting that her marriage “lacked ‘spice'” and that she knew Olohan liked Asian women, since he is married to an Asian woman.

The documents claim Olohan — made “extremely uncomfortable” by Miller’s unsolicited and undesired touching and advances — “immediately removed himself from the situation.”

While Olohan did not immediately raise alarm over the incident, given that his colleague was supposedly “drinking alcohol excessively” at the party, he later engaged coworkers who explained that Miller’s behavior was “Tiffany just being Tiffany.”

Olohan’s suit indicates he ultimately reported the incident to a Google human resources representative, who allegedly admitted “that if the complaint was ‘in reverse’ — a female accusing a White male of harassment — that the complaint would certainly be escalated.”

However, this admission was apparently couched within a broader concession that Miller “drinks too much alcohol.”

Under Google’s harassment policy, “Sexual harassment can happen regardless of the gender, gender identity, orientation or gender expression of the individuals involved, and can, for example, occur between same-sex individuals as well as between opposite-sex individuals.”

“On information and belief, Google conducted no investigation regarding Olohan’s complaint and Miller faced no formal repercussions,” the court documents state.

Do no evil

In the vacuum of accountability, Olohan claims he soon became the target for retaliation, with Miller “criticizing him to other coworkers and complaining to Human Resources on at least two occasions about alleged ‘microaggressions.'”

Human resource managers were reportedly present during the supposed offenses. Jacky Schiestel, one of the HR members, allegedly agreed that Miller was “being petty” and that no “microaggression” had occurred.

The lawsuit details a number of other instances when Miller allegedly denigrated or undermined Olohan in front of coworkers, in one case going so far as to require an apology. Google reportedly took no action.

Miller’s alleged animosity toward Olohan, as described in the court papers, supposedly informed an identitarian push to oust “white guys” on the plaintiff’s management team, culminating, ultimately, in his termination.

Olohan has since gone to work for the Klick Group as the executive vice president of growth, reported Nextshark.

Should his suit against Google alleging gender and race discrimination prevail, Olohan will see some growth in his bank account, although the damages have not yet been specified.

“This lawsuit is a fictional account of events filled with numerous falsehoods, fabricated by a disgruntled ex-employee, who was senior to Ms. Miller at Google,” a spokesman for Miller told the New York Post. “Ms. Miller never made any ‘advance’ toward Mr. Olohan, which witnesses can readily corroborate.”

“This employee was terminated with cause after a thorough investigation of complaints by numerous employees,” the spokesman explained to the Daily Caller.”

Google’s sexual harassment problem

Olohan’s claims echo those of employees who have in previous years suggested that Google tends to conceal rather than deal head-on with sexual harassment concerns, particularly when they concern high-ranking executives.

Thousands of Google employees walked out in fall 2018 in protest of the company’s response to sexual harassment, reported Reuters.

In response to the protest, Google announced new policies around sexual harassment.

Sundar Pichai, the company’s CEO, said at the time, “We recognize that we have not always gotten everything right in the past and we are sincerely sorry for that. It’s clear we need to make some changes. Going forward, we will provide more transparency on how we handle concerns. We’ll give better support and care to the people who raise them.”

Pichai had previously revealed that the company had fired 48 people, including 13 “senior managers and above,” for sexual harassment between 2016 and 2018.

In 2020, Google agreed to further changes to its policies and procedures around sexual harassment as part of a massive legal settlement valued at over $310 million, reported CNBC.

Julie Goldsmith Reiser, a lawyer for the plaintiffs in the suit, claimed, “We found that Google’s human resources department actually had some capable, smart processes and people in place but the powerful people didn’t feel the need to adhere to HR.”

Lawsuit: Male Google Exec Was Fired After Rejecting Female Boss Who Groped Him

January 28, 2023 by Lucas Nolan Leave a Comment

A former Google executive claims in a lawsuit that he was fired for turning down a higher-ranking female executive’s unwanted advances. According to the lawsuit, a Google HR representative “openly admitted … that if the complaint was ‘in reverse’ — a female accusing a white male of harassment — the complaint would certainly be escalated.”

The New York Post reports that Ryan Olohan, a 48-year-old married father of seven who worked as the managing director of food, beverages, and restaurants at Google, claims in a lawsuit that Tiffany Miller, the company’s director of programmatic media, fired him after touching him inappropriately at a company dinner in December 2019.

Olohan alleges that Miller complimented his physique, and told him that her marriage lacked “spice.” The groping incident allegedly happened during a drunken business gathering at a restaurant in Chelsea.

Olohan initially felt awkward discussing the incident because so many of his coworkers were intoxicated, but his coworkers later explained the behavior as “Tiffany being Tiffany,” according to the lawsuit that was filed on November 30 in Manhattan. Olohan claimed that after reporting the problem to Google’s human resources division, nothing ever came of the complaint.

According to the lawsuit, the HR representative “openly admitted … that if the complaint was ‘in reverse’ — a female accusing a white male of harassment — the complaint would certainly be escalated.”

Miller allegedly chastised Olohan in front of his coworkers during a Google-hosted event in December 2021 as part of the retaliation. According to the lawsuit, the tension was so high that coworkers encouraged him to sit at the other end of the table.

Miller later apologized, but according to the lawsuit, “Google once again took no action despite knowing that Miller’s ongoing harassment of Olohan was caused by his rejection of her sexual advances.”

Court documents state that Miller repeatedly reprimanded Olohan while intoxicated at a company gathering at a karaoke bar in April 2022, mocking him upon his arrival and repeating her knowledge that he preferred Asian women to white women based on the fact that Olohan’s wife is Asian.

Olohan claimed he started to experience increasing pressure from his manager, who complained that his management team consisted of “obviously too many white guys.” According to the lawsuit, in July, he was urged to fire a male employee to make room on his team for a female. After working for Google for 16 years, Olohan was fired the following month.

Olohan claimed that during a videoconference call, a member of the Google Employee Investigations team informed him that he was being fired for not being “inclusive.” Olohan was informed that he had shown favoritism toward high-performing employees and that he was “ableist” for making remarks about other employees’ “walking pace” when he questioned why he was not inclusive.

In his lawsuit, Olohan has accused Google and Miller of discrimination, retaliation, and creating a hostile work environment. It seeks unspecified damages from each defendant.

These allegations have been made against Google before. The business has previously come under fire for its handling of sexual harassment cases and for promoting a toxic workplace environment.

Lead actress of ‘Home Improvement’ defends Tim Allen over resurfaced clip showing him lifting kilt on set

January 26, 2023 by Chris Enloe Leave a Comment

Patricia Richardson, lead actress of the 1990s hit sitcom “Home Improvement,” defended her co-star, Tim Allen, this week after an old video clip surfaced, purportedly showing Allen flashing Richardson.

What is the background?

Richardson’s comments are particularly noteworthy after Pamela Anderson, who played a minor role on “Home Improvement,” alleged that Allen flashed her before the filming of the show’s pilot episode.

Variety reported on Anderson’s allegations, which are featured in her forthcoming memoir, set to be released next week. Anderson wrote:

On the first day of filming, I walked out of my dressing room, and Tim was in the hallway in his robe. He opened his robe and flashed me quickly — completely naked underneath. He said it was only fair, because he had seen me naked. Now we’re even. I laughed uncomfortably.

Allen has denied the accusations.

“No, it never happened. I would never do such a thing,” he told Variety.

What did Richardson say?

After Anderson’s allegations were published, TMZ obtained video of a “Home Improvement” blooper reel.

The clip shows Richardson’s character, “Jill Taylor,” and Allen’s, “Tim Taylor,” standing in the living room set of the show. Allen’s character is wearing a kilt when he appears to flash Richardson, who responds, “Hangs long, I just wish it was shorter.” Both characters then laughed.

The clip was used to perhaps give credence to Anderson’s accusations against Allen. But Richardson quickly shut down any hint of impropriety.

“People ask me what was under the kilt when he flashed me, he was well dressed under there, I was just shocked that he lifted the kilt, not by a man in boxer shorts,” Richardson told TMZ.

Anything else?

Anderson responded to Allen’s denial this week by doubling down on her accusation.

“This true story is just one of many surreal and uncomfortable situations I learned to navigate,” Anderson said in a statement. “My book goes into how it made me feel over the course of my life and, in this case, my career. I have no ill will toward Tim. But like the rest, it should never have happened.”

Tim Allen responds after Pamela Anderson makes explosive allegation against him: ‘He said it was only fair’

January 23, 2023 by Chris Enloe Leave a Comment

Actor Tim Allen has responded to explosive accusations that he exposed himself to Pamela Anderson on the set of “Home Improvement” in the 1990s.

What is the accusation?

Anderson’s forthcoming memoir — “Love, Pamela” — details the creepy accusation.

According to Variety, Anderson claims in her book that on the first day of filming for “Home Improvement,” the hit sitcom that aired from 1991 to 1999, Allen exposed himself because Anderson had appeared in Playboy.

Anderson claims in her book:

On the first day of filming, I walked out of my dressing room, and Tim was in the hallway in his robe. He opened his robe and flashed me quickly — completely naked underneath. He said it was only fair, because he had seen me naked. Now we’re even. I laughed uncomfortably.

At the time of the alleged incident, Anderson was just 23 years old. “Home Improvement” was one of Anderson’s earliest TV credits; she played Lisa the Tool Girl, who assisted Tim Taylor, played by Allen, and Al Borland, played by Richard Karn, on a show-within-a-show “Tool Time,” which featured Tim and Al as they demonstrated various home-improvement projects.

Anderson only appeared on “Home Improvement” for 23 episodes. Instead, she reached stardom after being cast as a regular on “Baywatch.”

How did Allen respond?

Allen, who would have been 37 years old at the time of the alleged incident, unequivocally denied Anderson’s accusations.

“No, it never happened. I would never do such a thing,” he told Variety.

Anderson, however, insists that it did.

“This true story is just one of many surreal and uncomfortable situations I learned to navigate,” Anderson said in a statement. “My book goes into how it made me feel over the course of my life and, in this case, my career. I have no ill will toward Tim. But like the rest, it should never have happened.”

Anderson’s book is set to release on Jan. 31.
