WATCH: The Roof of the Caesar's Superdome Caught Fire

Video from local news outlets and onlookers on Tuesday showed the roof of the Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans on fire.

The stadium is home to the New Orleans Saints and hosts dozens of conventions and live events each year.

The fire was quickly extinguished but caught the attention of many who posted pics and videos online.

Though the fire seemed intense, it appeared only to impact one small section of the roof. It is not yet known what caused the fire.

Cowboys fans outnumbered Chargers fans at SoFi Stadium on Sunday, according to multiple reports. One would think that would make for a fun and happy environment.

Well, one would be wrong.

Having outnumbered Chargers fans, Cowboys fans turned on each other and beat each other up while trying to toss one another into the water.

It’s important to note, the Cowboys actually won this game. Lord knows what type of madness would have ensued had Dallas lost the game. Of course, the stadium designers probably never thought their scenic pond would be used as a target for fans to toss each other into during fights, but people are resourceful creatures.

No word on whether any of the combatants were arrested; it is believed that all 12 Chargers fans made it home unscathed.

Wheelchair-Bound Cheerleader Says High School Excluded Her, Pressured Her to Quit

A wheelchair-bound high school senior has accused a Missouri school of restricting her from participating in the cheerleading squad because of her disability.

Lacy Kiper, who joined the cheer squad last year, says that Truman High School won’t let her take the field with the rest of the squad during games because they fear her wheelchair will damage the turf on the field, Fox 8 reported.

“It’s definitely been very challenging to find someplace to feel involved because, for the most part, I’ve only ever been the only wheelchair user in my school,” the 18-year-old student said.

Kiper, who was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta Type 5, a condition that makes her bones very brittle, said she got tired of leading a life that was so overly protected, and she decided to try out for the school’s cheer squad last year.

The student’s father told Fox that he’d do all he can to help alleviate their worries.

“I told the school I would put her on the mats if they want. I’ll be there for every game if they want. I’ll be sure that she’s got someone to assist her in any way to be a part of this team. And they have pretty much turned me down on most everything,” Charles Kiper said.

“I have provided them with three doctors’ notes from her lifelong orthopedic surgeon who’s done all the surgeries and have known her since she was 2 months old. And they still tell me no,” the girl’s father added.

But Lacy added that the school won’t let her join the squad when to do cheers inside the gym on the hardwood floors, either.

“But even for the basketball gym, they said no. And I was like, ‘That’s a floor that I go on all the time,” she said.

Lacy says that the whole situation frustrates her.

“It irritates me especially because I’m not even being given the, ‘Hey, do you think you could?’ or the ‘Hey, this is coming up in advance — everybody else doesn’t know yet but we want to know your thoughts on how you could participate,’” she told Fox.

Lacy also claimed that she has felt pressured by the coach to quit the squad, according to the Kansas City Star.

For its part, the Independence School District says that the girl’s father has refused to sign certain release forms, so they can’t allow her to participate unless he does so. The district also says that some news stories of the situation have contained “significant inaccuracies.”

“The District cannot substantively respond to such inaccuracies without consent to release student records from the parent. In this matter, the parent chose not to sign HIPAA and FERPA releases to allow the District to respond,” the district said in a statement.

“Without those releases, the District is limited in what it can discuss,” the statement concluded. “While the Independence School District cannot respond substantively to the editorial, the District would like to reiterate that it takes the safety of all involved in our activities seriously, and remains committed to ensuring that our programs and activities are inclusive, safe, and welcoming for all students.”

Gisele Bundchen Defends Victoria's Secret Model Doutzen Kroes' Stance Against Vaccine Mandates

Super model Gisele Bündchen came to the defense of Victoria’s Secret model Doutzen Kroes after Kroes faced backlash for opposing vaccine mandates.

Over the weekend, Kroes ignited a firestorm of hate when she wrote in an Instagram post that she does not intend to get the coronavirus vaccine while denouncing efforts to force, mandate, and pressure people into doing so.

“I will not be forced to take the shot,” Kroes wrote to her 6.9 million followers. “I will not be forced to prove my health to participate in society. I will not accept exclusion of people based on their medical status.”

The backlash came swift for Kroes, who was immediately labeled an “anti-vaxxer” spreading misinformation and putting lives in danger.

The criticisms against Kroes became so intense that model Gisele Bündchen eventually denounced the hate being directed at her.

“I know Doutzen and she is a kind and loving person. I can’t believe the hate being directed at her because she expressed her feelings,” Bündchen, the wife of NFL quarterback Tom Brady, wrote in a comment on Kroes’ post.

“It saddens me to see all the judgment and the lack of empathy in so many peoples hearts. Hate is not the answer. The only way we can create a better world is trough compassion and acceptance,” Bündchen wrote.  “I invite you to silence your mind and go deep within to find love in your heart so we can all unite in peace and create harmony in our lives and in our world. We need it more than ever.”

Philippines: Manny Pacquiao Will Run for President in 2022

Legendary boxer and Philippine Senator Manny Pacquiao announced Sunday he will seek the Philippine presidency in May 2022, the Manila Bulletin reported.

A pro-Pacquiao faction of the Philippines’ ruling political party, PDP-Laban, officially endorsed the boxer-turned-senator as president for the 2022 general election on September 19 during the party’s 11th National Assembly.

“Yes, I accept,” Pacquiao said in response to the nomination, confirming his candidacy.

“I am a fighter, and I will always be a fighter inside and outside the ring,” Pacquiao, 42, said in further remarks during a live-streamed speech at the assembly. “I am accepting your nomination as candidate for president of the Republic of the Philippines.”

“In the name of our fellow countrymen long asking for the right change in governance and true service to the Filipino people, I wholeheartedly, bravely, and humbly hope for your support,” he added.

In a statement posted by his official Twitter account later on September 19, Pacquiao wrote:

I boldly accept the challenge of running as PRESIDENT of the Philippines. We need progress. We need to win against poverty. We need government to serve our people with integrity, compassion and transparency. The time is now. I am ready to rise to the challenge of leadership.

Pacquiao’s confirmation Sunday that he will seek the Philippines’ highest political office next spring ends months of intense speculation that he would run for president in 2022. The pugilist — considered one of the greatest boxers of all time — has transitioned into a career of public service over the past decade, often juggling his fighting commitments with congressional and now senatorial duties. Pacquiao was elected to the Philippine Congress in May 2010 representing Sarangani Province. He served two terms in Congress before graduating to a higher political office when he was elected to the Philippine Senate in 2016.

Pacquiao was a staunch ally of current Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte until recently. The senator openly criticized Duterte’s weak response to China’s latest violation of Philippine maritime territory in the South China Sea in May, sparking a public falling out between the two politicians. Pacquiao’s assessment irked Duterte, who in turn lashed out at the legislator in comments to the press, belittling his knowledge of international relations.

A December 2020 interview in which Pacquiao suggested Duterte’s administration was guilty of graft resurfaced during this tumultuous period, with the president daring the senator to specifically name allegedly corrupt Philippine government agencies. Pacquiao responded on June 20 by accusing the Philippine Department of Health (DOH) of graft under its current secretary, Francisco Duque III. Duterte appointed Duque to the DOH post in 2017.

Duterte currently serves as the chairman of PDP-Laban. His own faction of the Philippine ruling party voted Pacquiao out of PDP-Laban on July 17 while the still-active boxer was away in the U.S. training for his latest fight on August 21. Pacquiao’s PDP-Laban faction fought the attempted ouster on his behalf, however, successfully denying the action. Duterte’s PDP-Laban loyalists have since endorsed him as their official candidate for the Philippine Vice Presidency in 2022, a nomination which Duterte has officially accepted. Duterte is unable to seek a second term as president of the Philippines in 2022 after his first term expires, according to limits laid out by the country’s constitution.
