Bodycam video: Florida man dressed as a cat stabbed roommate in the neck, police say

A Florida man dressed as a cat stabbed his roommate in the neck, according to police. The victim was seriously injured from the knife attack.

Around 5:45 p.m. on May 23, deputies with the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance at a home in North Gainesville, Florida. A man contacted 911 to report that his roommate had stabbed him in the neck.

Police bodycam video shows two officers arrive at the home with guns drawn. The deputies are forced to kick down the front door after there was no response from anyone inside the house.

Bodycam footage shows the victim exiting the home with a severe stab wound. One of the officers noted that the wounded man was “seriously bleeding from the neck.” The bloodied victim, who was not identified, was rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment.

After about two minutes, the suspect surrendered with his arms in the air. The suspect was wearing a full-body cat costume that had a feline-looking hood.

Deputies arrested the suspect without incident.

Omar Gutierrez, 32, was charged with attempted murder. He is being held at the Alachua County Jail on a $1 million bond.

“Our sheriff and the many members of this team commend these deputies for their lifesaving acts as they stopped at nothing to ensure that the victim was treated and that the suspect in this incident was apprehended,” Alachua County Sheriff’s Office captain Chris Sims said.

WCJB-TV reported, “When detectives spoke with the victim in the hospital, he explained that Gutierrez said a week earlier he was ‘not above killing’ the victim. Gutierrez claimed the roommate hurt his cat, which he denies.”

The victim allegedly asked Gutierrez why he plunged a knife into the back of his neck, and he responded, “It was instinctual.”

The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office quipped, “We exchanged Gutierrez’s cat costume for a green and white striped jumpsuit.”

Powerball winner accused of stealing $2 billion lottery ticket gets served with lawsuit papers at $25 million Hollywood mansion

A California Powerball winner is accused of stealing a lottery ticket worth more than $2 billion. The lottery winner was served with lawsuit papers at his newly purchased mansion in Hollywood Hills, California.

Last year, Edwin Castro won the Powerball lottery jackpot of $2.04 billion after purportedly purchasing the winning ticket from Joe’s Service Station in Altadena, California, on Nov. 7, 2022.

As previously reported in TheBlaze, Castro elected to take home the lump sum prize money of $997.6 million in February 2023.

Castro used the lottery winnings to purchase two multimillion-dollar California homes and a vintage Porsche convertible reportedly worth $250,000.

In the same month, a lawsuit was filed in California claiming that the winning lottery ticket had been stolen.

Jose Rivera contends that he is the rightful owner of the winning Powerball ticket.

Rivera alleged that a person named “Reggie” stole the ticket from him the day it was purchased.

“Rivera said after the winning numbers were drawn, he kept asking to get the ticket back but Reggie allegedly refused,” according to KABC-TV. “He claims Reggie threatened to destroy the ticket if he did not split the winnings.”

“Reggie” has been identified as Urachi F. Romero. Castro and Romero are listed as co-defendants in the Alhambra Superior Court case.

Rivera believes that a surveillance camera will show that he is the true owner of the life-changing lottery ticket.

The New York Post reported, “He believes store surveillance images will prove his case and has requested the state lotto agency ‘make available for our review all video depicting the purchase of the winning ticket.'”

Rivera claims he “refused to be blackmailed,” according to court documents.

Rivera’s legal team stated in a letter to the California Lottery, “In an effort to hopefully reach a prompt resolution of this matter involving the rightful owner of the $2.04 Billion Powerball winning ticket, our client, Jose Rivera, again requests the ‘Lottery’ make available for our review all video depicting the purchase of the winning ticket.”

The letter continued, “We understand the ‘Lottery’ took possession of the video shortly after it was determined the winning ticket was sold at Joe’s Service Station in Altadena, California.”

A spokesperson for the California Lottery stated, “When it comes to the vetting process for big winners, California Lottery has the utmost confidence in its process for doing so. California Lottery remains confident that Edwin Castro is the rightful winner of the $2.04 billion prize stemming from the Powerball drawing in November of 2022.”

On May 17, lawsuit papers were delivered to Castro at his $25.5 million mansion in Hollywood Hills, California. The swanky 13,578-square-foot property, reportedly located near the homes of pop star Ariana Grande and TV host Jimmy Kimmel, has five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and a wine cellar.

The U.S. Sun reported, “A case management conference and proof of service hearing have now been set for July 24 at the courthouse in Alhambra, CA, with Rivera being represented by attorneys Estela Richeda and Brian Kramer.”

Video: Naked Florida man attacks people at UFC Gym, random victims on the sidewalk until he is tased by police

Video captured the moment a Florida man stripped naked and then assaulted people at the UFC Gym in Midtown Miami on Tuesday night. The nude assailant was escorted out of the gym, attacked random people on the sidewalk, harassed an elderly man, and was later tased by police.

A man was reportedly attending a boxing class on Tuesday night when he abruptly got naked and then started assaulting other gym patrons.

“The boxing coach said he was a little off, he wasn’t hitting the bag as usual. The member walked his way downstairs and he was just acting very bizarre,” UFC Gym assistant general manager Ray Lopez told WTVJ.

The man got into a fight with another gym member – who slammed him against exercise equipment.

Staff at the UFC Gym attempted to restrain the naked man, but he continued to be aggressive. It took several employees to physically escort the naked man out of the gym.

“He was just becoming dangerous, so at that point, the coaches just picked him up and took him out,” Lopez explained.

Once outside, the naked man attacked random people on the sidewalk. Video shows the perpetrator running up to someone from behind and punching the person in the back of the head.

The suspect is seen harassing an elderly man in a wheelchair until someone hits him in the head.

The assailant confronts two men near a work truck, then one of the men pushes him to the ground. The shoeless suspect then sprints down the road.

Officers arrived at the crime scene, and the man attempted to open the door of the police SUV.

A police officer tased the man, but he was completely unfazed and continued to advance toward the cop.

Miami Police Department spokesperson Kiara Delva said, “They gave him many commands to stop and comply, which he completely disregarded. Our officer was forced to discharge his Taser, at which point, they were able to place him into custody.”

Police officers were finally able to subdue the man, put him in handcuffs, and take him into custody.

The man has not been identified by authorities.

“Completely 100 percent not acceptable. Detectives are still working in the case to determine at one point they can charge accordingly to his actions while he gets the mental evaluation he needs,” Delva stated.

Lopez said, “I just hope he gets the mental help he needs to overcome this with whatever he’s going through.”

WFLA reported, “Gym officials say his membership has been revoked.”
