Garland Refuses to Say If Illegal Entry Should Remain a Crime; Makes Strange, Confused Comment About What Happened on Jan. 6

Merrick Garland was just a horrible witness on his own behalf today.

He couldn’t stop saying um, uh, any time he was asked a question and the answers he gave were batty.

As we reported earlier, he indicated that attacking a federal courthouse at night, as Antifa was wont to do in Portland, wasn’t necessarily domestic terrorism if it was done at night. Yes, really, check it out here.

But Garland was also asked if he believed “that illegal entry at America’s border should remain a crime?” Given the nature of the Biden policies to essentially throw open the borders, it’s a good and essential question.

His answer confirmed exactly why the question needed to be asked and didn’t reassure anyone.

HAWLEY: “Do you believe that illegal entry at America’s border should remain a crime?”

GARLAND: “I just haven’t thought about that question… I don’t know of a proposal to decriminalize but still make it unlawful to enter.” pic.twitter.com/RDSRsdCabu

Garland replied, “I just haven’t thought about that question… I don’t know of a proposal to decriminalize but still make it unlawful to enter.” The question was a simple yes or no question. If he can’t say yes, it’s because you know the answer is no. Not a good look for a nominee. More than a little troubling. If he isn’t able to answer that, he isn’t ready to be an Attorney General.

His answer as to whether he would still prosecute it was also problematic.

From Daily Wire:

Well, this is again, a question of allocation of resources,” Garland responded. “We will, the department will prevent unlawful crossing. I don’t know. I you know, I have to admit I just don’t know exactly what the conditions are and how this is done. I think if I don’t know what the current program even is with respect to this, if there, so I assume that the answer would be yes, but I don’t know what the issues around surrounding it are.”

“Allocation of resources” translates to well, we’re never going to say that we’re not doing it, but we’re going to be prioritizing other things.

In another answer he appeared to be borrowing the brain of confused Joe Biden when commenting on the Capitol riot. He spoke of the “Capitol bombing.”

Merrick Garland: “I think the first thing I should do as part of my briefings on the Capitol Bombing are briefings with Director Wray as to where he sees the biggest threat… ” pic.twitter.com/bDHgJN6eJy

What bombing are we talking about there, Judge Garland?

There was no bombing. There were bombs planted the night before, on Jan. 5 at the RNC and the DNC. But since they were at night, you’d probably find that wasn’t domestic terrorism. But they never went off.

Now perhaps like Joe Biden he’s having a flashback memory. There have actually been two bombings in the Capitol. One in the Senate July 2, 1915, by a man against World War I. Then there was the Weather Underground bombing March 1, 1971 at the Capitol. Finally there was November 7, 1983, the bombing of the Senate by the May 19 Communist Movement. One of the people involved in the communist group was Susan Rosenberg who now performs fundraising for BLM.

But if he’s even confused as to the basic facts of what exactly happened on Jan. 5-6, then that’s a huge problem.
