Pelosi's Response About Pushing Mayra Flores' Daughter Makes It Worse

June 27, 2022 by Nick Arama Leave a Comment

We reported how during the photo op for the swearing-in of Rep. Mayra Flores (R-TX), that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appeared to shove Flores’ young daughter, giving her an elbow to the side. But the move was caught and widely shared on Twitter.

Then Mayra Flores responded and confirmed that indeed, her daughter had been pushed.

I am so proud of my strong, beautiful daughter for not allowing this to faze her. She continued to smile and pose for the picture like a Queen.

No child should be pushed to the side for a photo op. PERIOD!! https://t.co/TA50EntDoq

— Mayra Flores For Congress 🇺🇸🦅 (@MayraFlores2022) June 27, 2022

Flores praised her daughter for not letting it phase her and standing her ground, but noted that no one should be pushed for a photo op, in a pointed message to Pelosi.

So, I was curious as to what Nancy Pelosi would ultimately say about the whole situation. But the response from her spokesperson and deputy chief of staff, Drew Hamill was just so lame and unbelievable, it’s almost like he didn’t even bother to look at the video or he completely disregarded what Flores said. I thought Pelosi might deny it, but Hammill essentially admitted that Pelosi had pushed the child; he gave the explanation that she was trying to push her to make sure that the child got into the picture.

It’s sad to see “news outlets” that know better misrepresent the Speaker’s effort to ensure Rep. Flores’ daughters wouldn’t be hidden behind her in all of the photos of such an important moment for their family. https://t.co/Dm0oXtwF7V pic.twitter.com/KDyI4MfaOj

— Drew Hammill (@Drew_Hammill) June 27, 2022

So, I have a few issues with this explanation. First, by shoving her to the side, she’s pushing her further out of the picture. If you wanted to make sure she got in the picture, you might say, “Honey, move in the front so you can get in the picture.” Not shove her. Yet, the girl wasn’t behind her, so the explanation doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Second, why is she touching the child at all, much less with a rude elbow shove? She seems to think she’s just entitled to touch the child much less give her a shove. Since when?

What happened to the Democrats’ claims about “bodily autonomy”? This doesn’t look like Pelosi was respecting the child’s bodily autonomy or looking out for the “children, children, children,” as Pelosi always claims. The explanation goes to a deeper point here–that Pelosi thinks she’s entitled to do what she wants.

Notice what’s missing in all this ‘explanation’ from Hammill as well: an apology. Both Flores and the child know you shoved her. If you thought you were doing it for some higher purpose (I don’t believe you), but where’s the apology to smooth over the situation? Even a “well, that wasn’t what was meant, but we’re sorry it was taken that way.” They didn’t even go that far, at least not in the response from Hammill on Twitter. Instead, Hammill attacks Fox News and others for daring to report on it. It isn’t Fox making it up; the video shows what happened and Flores confirmed it. But Hammill shows how they spin to attack– even now–anyone who just reports what occurred. Talk about gaslighting.

Hammill was ratioed into next week on Twitter. Safe to say, virtually no one believed him.

“The children, the children, the children”.. said Nancy Pelosi at least a million times !! Clearly a shove, Drew. You’re doing what the Democrats do.. lie when all else fails. https://t.co/aNQ876HPpK

— Brenda P (@brendapcmt) June 27, 2022

Pelosi could just apologize and then everyone would move on.

The excuses for what we can see with our own eyes just makes it worse. https://t.co/JilTUclu6J

— Mayra Flores For Congress :us::eagle: (@MayraFlores2022) June 27, 2022

Flores’ win in a historically Democratic district is a harbinger of the wave to come in November, and maybe that’s what was on Nancy’s mind. Pelosi got a message from that little girl that she was going to stand in there. She’s going to get another message from voters, come November.

Nancy Pelosi Calls Supreme Court 'Extremist' for Scrapping Roe Decision in Scathing Letter to Colleagues

June 27, 2022 by Cameron Arcand Leave a Comment

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) slammed the Supreme Court for overruling Roe v. Wade, which send the abortion issue back to the states, in a letter to her Democratic colleagues on Monday.

“While this extremist Supreme Court works to punish and control the American people, Democrats must continue our fight to expand freedom in America,” she writes.

In the letter, she says that House Democrats are working on legislation to secure data in women’s reproductive health apps, insinuating that “this information could be used against women by a sinister prosecutor in a state that criminalizes abortion.” In addition, Pelosi suggests that legislation would also assert the fact that “Americans have the Constitutional right to travel freely” throughout the country, and “enshrine Roe v. Wade into the law of the land” through the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA).

The speaker also uses scare tactics by mentioning Justice Clarence Thomas’s legal theories on “contraception and in-vitro fertilization to marriage equality,” despite not acknowledging that the court would not actually take action on any of these issues.

She adds: “While this extremist Supreme Court works to punish and control the American people, Democrats must continue our fight to expand freedom in America.” pic.twitter.com/hbcLbJOHDl

— Sahil Kapur (@sahilkapur) June 27, 2022

For starters, it’s unlikely that legislation on abortion would make it to President Joe Biden’s desk, especially because the Senate filibuster is not going anywhere. The WHPA failed in the Senate back in May, as it did not hit the 60 votes necessary to codify nationwide access to abortion, NPR reported.

Pelosi’s letter comes across as a denial of reality for political purposes, with the objective being to give her party’s base false hope. She is probably well aware that an effort to codify the principles in Roe and Planned Parenthood v. Casey would fail because it already did prior to the overruling. Democrats are late to the game, and they are not acting as if they did not have power in Washington to codify abortion access between 1973 and now. Newsweek pointed out that former President Barack Obama received sharp criticism after the Supreme Court’s overruling, as progressives said he and fellow Democrats missed their chance on abortion.

Instead of accepting the outcome of the Dobbs case, Pelosi’s decision to resort to using hyperpartisan language will only amplify the division within the United States. She is doing a disservice to members of her party–and Americans as a whole–if she does not recognize that this is now a state-level problem. It is an insult to the concept of separation of powers by trying to cast doubt on the legitimacy of the court by calling them “extremists” and trying to work around them after the fact.

Americans need more trust in their institutions, not less, except Pelosi would rather resort to name-calling than acknowledge the importance of the Tenth Amendment.

Mayra Flores Says Yes, Nancy Pelosi Shoved Her Child During Photo-Op

June 27, 2022 by Nick Arama Leave a Comment

When I first saw the video of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) appearing to shove the little daughter of Rep. Mayra Flores (R-TX) with her elbow during a photo-op for her swearing-in, I thought perhaps it was a manipulated video or maybe the angles weren’t clear. But then I saw a video taken from C-Span that seemed to show the same thing.

Why did Nancy Pelosi feel the need use her elbow to move Mayra Flores daughter away? pic.twitter.com/5TWRFTZeCP

— 3sidedstory 🇺🇲 (@3sidedstory) June 26, 2022

As we reported, Nancy looks at her, moves her elbow, and the child moves to her right.

Now Mayra Flores herself is confirming it. Actor James Woods commented on the incident and Flores responded.

“I am so proud of my strong, beautiful daughter for not allowing this to faze her. She continued to smile and pose for the picture like a Queen,” Flores said. “No child should be pushed to the side for a photo op. PERIOD!!”

I don’t get what was going on in Pelosi’s mind. If you think the child is too close to you, you bend over and say, “Honey, can you move a little to the right.” You don’t shove her with your elbow like she’s just not worth your time. But it’s a photo-op, it’s just a few seconds, and everyone is supposed to be close to each other, so what’s the issue here?

Remember, this is the lady who is always saying that she does everything for the children. “Children, children, children,” San Fran Nan intones. Of course, that’s just so many bull cookies. She does what she does, always for her power and the power of the Democratic Party.

Could it be a little latent hostility for Flores’ win in a previously Democratic district and the coming GOP wave in November? If so, that’s pretty petty to take it out on a little child. Flores’ win is one sign that Democrats are rapidly losing Hispanic voters because of their extremism as well as failures on the economy. She even got Elon Musk’s vote. Officially, Pelosi thanked Flores for running. “It’s a great honor to welcome Congresswoman Flores to the Capitol and to the Congress of the United States with great congratulations,” Pelosi said in that video. “And again, grateful for her leadership and her beautiful family who is here today.” Pelosi’s office hasn’t responded yet to the incident or on Flores’ comments.

But as Flores said, good on her daughter for standing in there like a champ. Flores herself shows that she’s not going to take things lying down, that she’s going to be vocal and she’s already not been shy about speaking out.

Nancy Pelosi Appears to Shove Away Mayra Flores' Daughter in Weird Scene

June 26, 2022 by Bonchie Leave a Comment

Mayra Flores won a shocking victory in Texas less than two weeks ago, flipping a House district held by Democrats for over 100 years. The 84 percent Hispanic district provided another piece of evidence pointing to a historic shift coming in November toward the GOP.

But I’m not here to talk about any of that. In fact, I’ll just go ahead and open with an admission that I don’t have some deep analysis to provide about what I’m about to share. But it’s the weekend, and this was just way too weird to ignore.

During Mayra Flores’ swearing-in, Nancy Pelosi was standing next to one of Flores’ daughters. Apparently, Pelosi didn’t like how close she got, though, and shoved her away with her elbow.

Nancy out here shoving kids lol https://t.co/cvy3MGkYC3

— Bonchie (@bonchieredstate) June 27, 2022

I’ve watched the video a few times, and I’m not really coming up with an explanation for Pelosi’s behavior that doesn’t make her look bad. Did she not want Flores’ daughter to touch her? If not, why not? I can honestly say that I’ve never found the need to shove a kid who stood too close to me during a picture. Maybe Pelosi is secretly a germaphobe?

Or maybe Pelosi just doesn’t like kids? That wouldn’t be shocking given her support for abortion until birth, a position she’s reiterated lately following the overturning of Roe v. Wade. She’s devoutly Catholic, though. I’m assured of it.

Regardless, I did find it funny that Flores’ daughter stood her ground, leaning right back into Pelosi after being pushed away. One word: Respect.

So what do you think? Purposeful shove or an unintended reflex? Inquiring minds and all that.

AOC Has a Barn Burner of a Sunday Delivering Multiple Hot Takes on Abortion Ruling

June 26, 2022 by Bonchie Leave a Comment

I regret to inform you on this otherwise glorious Sunday morning that “democracy” is once again in danger. That’s the word from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who appeared on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” with Chuck Todd to deliver multiple hot takes on the landmark Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade.

If you still carry any doubt about the sheer lack of intellectual ability possessed by the ultra-woke New York congresswoman, stick around.

AOC: “This is not just a crisis of Roe, this is a crisis of our democracy. The Supreme Court has dramatically overreached it’s authority. … This is a crisis of legitimacy.” pic.twitter.com/iGtrYoxShR

— The Post Millennial (@TPostMillennial) June 26, 2022

I love that line so much, mainly because it’s just a masterpiece of absurdity. Yeah, you get a lot of stupid arguments from politicians on a pretty consistent basis, but this is truly next-level ignorance on display. And to be sure, I call it ignorance because I don’t think AOC is secretly a genius and is just choosing to lie. I truly believe she’s as stupid as she appears.

But let’s game this out for giggles. According to AOC, the Supreme Court “overreached” (the word should be “overstepped”) its authority by reversing the hideously reasoned precedents of Roe and Casey, handing the power back to voters to decide the issue. There are two problems with that, though. One, the idea that it is outside the court’s domain to reverse its own prior, unconstitutional power play is nonsensical. Two, how could the court be overstepping its authority by not deciding an issue for voters but instead empowering them?

We are just getting started, though. AOC continued by asserting that the decision “will kill people.”

AOC on the overturning of Roe: “This decision and this policy will kill people” pic.twitter.com/eFvZSAIW3D

— The Post Millennial (@TPostMillennial) June 26, 2022

Wait until this mental giant finds out what having an abortion does. If she’s not sure, I’ll go ahead and spoil it for her: An abortion kills a child.

Regardless, what AOC is doing is common on the left. Instead of focusing on the 99 percent of elective abortions they insist remain legal until birth, they try to hide behind things like pregnancy complications as a justification for the barbaric procedure. Here’s the thing, though. Not a single state outlaws medical procedures to save the life of the mother, in the case of something like an ectopic pregnancy. It’s a non-issue, and that AOC and the like bring it up shows how untenable their actual position is.

The weakest of arguments is one bolstered by an exception that defies the rule. Democrats focus on the exceptions to abortion because they know how awful coming out and saying, “I want to kill babies for any reason” sounds to normal people. That’s one of the reasons they are so furious about this ruling. By sending abortion as an issue back to the voters, it means Democrats have to actually defend their position now. They can’t hide behind the “it’s a constitutional right” facade anymore, and that means the horrors of what they support will be laid bare.

Moving past that, AOC finally suggested that Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch should be impeached for “lying” to Congress about their position on Roe.

NBC’s Chuck Todd tees up AOC to go after Kavanaugh and Gorsuch: “Do you think lying in a confirmation hearing is an impeachable offense?”

AOC: “I believe so.” pic.twitter.com/riIWp1BOgs

— Kevin Tober (@KevinTober94) June 26, 2022

What’s worse? AOC’s answer or the fact that Chuck Todd, who should know better, asked this question in the first place? Neither Kavanaugh nor Gorsuch lied to Congress during their confirmation hearings. At no point did either man suggest that Roe v. Wade was untouchable or that they would not vote to overturn it. Instead, they indicated that they understand the weight and importance of precedent. But bad precedent, if tested in a proper, rigorous way, should be overturned, as happened with Plessy vs. Ferguson. To suggest that precedent is otherwise eternal is to suggest all sorts of evils should still exist.

In the end, what AOC is doing isn’t based on logic. Nothing she says makes sense or is consistent. To put it simply, she just likes abortion. That’s what this all comes down to. It’s not about the law, it’s not about rights, and it’s not about any actual concern for the wellbeing of women. Democrats like abortion, so they think the court should have affirmed a non-existent right to kill a child.

Thankfully, the current court, unlike the one that delivered Roe, decided that wasn’t enough.
