Abortion Activist Retreats to the Top of a Now-Closed Bridge to Reroute the Nation's Future

June 24, 2022 by Alex Parker Leave a Comment

Friday’s SCOTUS decision to overturn Roe. v. Wade has sent shockwaves across the country. And in the District of Columbia, it propelled one man up a bridge.

Guido Reichstadter is no stranger to putting himself in peculiar places. Earlier this month, he became convinced he should be beyond barricades and chained to a fence — just outside the Supreme Court. While media looked on, he tried to crush the key that would otherwise open his bike lock.

Guido had evidently realized he would change the nation’s future by shackling his neck to an opaque, X-patterned metal. “I am not letting my daughter’s rights be taken away by this unelected, unaccountable Supreme Court,” he shouted triumphantly.

Anti-abortion @PAAUNOW activists began chanting “Pro-choice, that’s a lie, babies never choose to die” as police responded to Guido Rechstadter chained to the fence.

“I am not letting my daughter’s rights be taken away by this unelected, unaccountable Supreme Court,” he yelled. pic.twitter.com/qmblgyTYcI

— Ford Fischer (@FordFischer) June 6, 2022

Apparently, he later concluded the attempt had failed to take hold. In the aftermath, he determined success would be obtained by more altitudinous means.

From Fox News:

A man climbed the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge in Washington, D.C. on Friday to protest the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade.

The man, who has revealed himself on Twitter as Guido Reichstadter, began climbing the bridge at around 11 a.m., according to FOX 5 DC. While the man was on the bridge, traffic came to a halt while officials tried to contact the man.

Calling on America to continuously shut down the government, Guido tweeted while higher than birds:

Hey I’m at the top of the Frederick Douglass bridge in Washington DC right now & want to know why YOU aren’t in the streets nonviolently shutting down the gov day after day after day till Congress protects abortion rights? Rise Up my Friends! pic.twitter.com/sDuqmpi8fm

— Guido Reichstadter (@GuidoReichstad1) June 24, 2022

As reported by The Daily Wire, a journalist messaged the world-changer as he meandered 70 feet in the air.

He communicated his calculation:

“I found a way up, I’ll find one down, I guess…”

There’s clearly always a way down, but it may not be a route worth pursuing. Luckily for Guido, the government he was closing remained open to save him from his efforts. Around noon, authorities placed a large balloon below.

He may not have wiped out the government, but he managed to close off a critical roadway.

DDOT made it official:

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announces that the Frederick Douglas Memorial Bridge (FDMB) is currently shut down. The closure is needed for safety concerns involved with protest activity and will remain in effect until further notice. Motorists are strongly encouraged to plan ahead for their afternoon commute and use alternate routes away from the South Capital Street and the FDMB area. Traffic enforcement officers are on the scene directing traffic. Motorists should use extra caution as they travel in the area of the FDMB, anticipate moderate delays, and to be mindful of emergency personnel.

On Instagram, Guido announced he’d remain in the air “as long as [he] physically can.”

In the arena of “If-then” computation, an elect of activists serve as America’s mystics. Through apparent cosmic means, they discern magical methods by which to alter the universe.

To Oscar nominee James Cromwell, it was recently revealed that if he glued himself to a Starbucks, black people would finally afford fake milk:

Bridges appear to be of particular supernatural use. In 2019, spellbinders at Houston’s Fred Hartman Bridge divined they’d save the planet by dangling as enchanted dingleberries:

Hopefully for bridge-toppling Guido, at the summit of his power, he’ll make true celestial contact. Explaining his ascent, he texted, “Getting closer to God.”

Be careful up there, sir, or you’ll end up a lot closer to Him than you’d planned.

As of 7 p.m. EST, The Great Guido appeared to still be bridging us to the future:

Police just said theyre about to cut cell coms

Love everyone getting in the streets for everyone we love- stay strong

Rise up for Abortion rights!

Shut it down nonviolently day after day after day till you get what you came for!

See you real soon!

LIVE ELECTION RESULTS: Alabama, Georgia, Virginia, DC

June 21, 2022 by RedState Staff Leave a Comment

Another Tuesday, another set of primaries. This week, it’s primaries in Virginia and Washington D.C. and runoff elections in Alabama and Georgia. Here’s what to keep an eye on:

Alabama

While the focus in many recent elections has been on which candidates were endorsed by President Trump, Tuesday’s runoff elections in Alabama and Georgia will heighten that scrutiny, as the former president has chosen sides in each of those elections. In Alabama, it’s the runoff for the US Senate seat being vacated by Republican Richard Shelby, who is retiring after 45 years. The runoff features Katie Britt and Mo Brooks.

Per Fox News:

Katie Britt, a former longtime Shelby aide who served as the senator’s chief of staff from 2016-2018 and who later became the first female president and CEO of the Business Council of Alabama, is considered the favorite in the Alabama runoff, against Rep. Mo Brooks, who was one of Trump’s top allies in the House.

Trump backed Brooks last year when the congressman was the front-runner in the race, but the former president took back his endorsement earlier this year as Brooks struggled in the polls. And after criticizing Britt last year, Trump praised her as he endorsed her a week ago, after new polls indicated Britt surging.

Alabama also has a Republican runoff for the Fifth Congressional District between Dale Strong and Casey Wardynski, and a Democrat gubernatorial runoff between Yolanda Flowers and Malika Sanders-Fortier.

Georgia

Meanwhile, in Georgia, there are four Congressional runoffs for Republicans. The higher profile races feature Jake Evans and Rich McCormick in the Sixth District and Mike Collins and Vernon Jones in the Tenth. Evans and Jones both have Trump’s backing, while McCormick has Senator Ted Cruz’s and Collins has Georgia Governor Brian Kemp’s.

Additional runoffs include the Second and Seventh Districts for the Republicans and the First and Tenth for the Democrats.

Virginia

In Virginia, the Democrats have a primary election in the Eighth District, where incumbent Don Beyer faces off with Victoria Virasingh.

The Republicans have primaries in the Second, Third, Sixth, and Seventh Districts.

Washington DC

In DC, there are primaries for both the Democrats and the Republicans (for US House, Nonvoting Member). Republican Nelson Rimensnyder is running unopposed, while Democrats Wendy Hamilton and Kelly Mikel Williams are challenging incumbent Eleanor Holmes.

Joe Biden's Memory Crashes and Burns in Odd Scene at COVID Vaccine Site

June 21, 2022 by Bonchie Leave a Comment

Joe Biden is back from his latest vacation, having returned from an eventful trip to the beach in Delaware. Between the president falling off his bike while sitting still and his daughter rescuing him after he lost his temper with a reporter, perhaps returning to Washington was for the best.

Or was it? Biden visited a COVID-19 vaccine site in D.C. on Tuesday, and things did not go as planned. In another sign of his debilitating mental decline, the president forgot who runs his own CDC. You know, totally normal stuff considering we are talking about an agency Biden has supposedly been intimately involved with for the last year-and-a-half.

BIDEN: “You see Dr. Jha, see that guy right there? He’s the guy that’s running the CDC for me these days.”

Rochelle Walensky is the director of the CDC. Ashish Jha is Biden’s COVID response coordinator. pic.twitter.com/vmD1H4a1xk

— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) June 21, 2022

Rochelle Walensky may be a terrible CDC director, but pretending she doesn’t exist? That’s harsh, wouldn’t you say? Of course, Biden isn’t doing so on purpose. His memory really is just that bad. Recall that this is the same guy who has repeatedly forgotten Barack Obama’s name despite serving in his administration for eight years as vice president. The current president also routinely mixes up the names of officials in his cabinet.

Because again, he’s senile. I know it’s inconvenient for some to admit, specifically those on the left side of the aisle, but the President of the United States is not all there. His labored gait, his glossed-over appearance, his constant memory flubs, and his meandering, often incoherent way of speaking all testify to that.

Still, what made the scene at the vaccine site even odder was the way the president used his mask throughout the exchange. If you watch the video, everyone in the room is masked up despite the fact that it’s June 2022, with objective data telling us that mask mandates do little to nothing to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. That’s dumb enough to witness on its own.

Biden takes things to an extra level of absurdity, though, when he pulls his mask down to start screaming at people across the room. He does this while a crowd is surrounding him, well within the range of his probable spittle. He then bends down, continuing to hold his mask off his face so a child can whisper into his ear.

Now, the problem here is not that Biden pulled his mask down. That’s perfectly reasonable given they are essentially nothing more than face decorations at this point. Sometimes you need to be heard, and a mask often prevents people from understanding you. The question is why do he and the rest of his administration keep playing this game? Why continue to promote mask-wearing, when even the president clearly doesn’t believe it does anything? Why wear a mask backstage at events only to remove it when coming into contact with the crowd? That type of behavior makes no logical sense and undermines trust.

But not making logical sense is a staple of Biden’s presidency, whether it’s his memory crashing and burning, the silly mask-wearing, or his general irrationality regarding policy decisions. Perhaps the electorate will learn some lessons after this ordeal finally ends, but color me a cynic on that front for the time being.

Joe Biden Officially Becomes the Most Unpopular Second-Year President in Recorded History

June 21, 2022 by Bonchie Leave a Comment

Joe Biden has crossed another major milestone, and I’m not talking about him setting records for presidential vacations, ice-cream eating, or inflation.

According to polling aggregate site 538, which has a hard-left bent on its editorial side, Biden is now the most unpopular president in recorded history at this point in his tenure. Just in his second year, he is more unpopular than any of his predecessors where polling data exists, stretching back nearly 90 years.

OUCH: Biden is now the most unpopular POTUS in *United States history.

Now has the all time worst POTUS approval at the 517 day mark, per @FiveThirtyEight . *Data began in late 30’s by @Gallup https://t.co/iWWiTK0eZU #ncpol #ncga #ncsen pic.twitter.com/RF4PcNsFyx

— Mike Rusher (@mjrusher) June 20, 2022

No other president has managed to sink as low as Biden has by the 517-day mark. Even Donald Trump, who often sat in the low-40s in approval surveys, mostly due to personality disagreements, wasn’t this far down in the aggregate by his second June in office. Heck, things are so bad that you can’t even use the word “polarizing” to describe Biden anymore because he’s not actually that polarizing. Instead, he’s just widely disapproved of by a large majority of Americans.

None of this is surprising. On Monday, the president made it clear that the pain is the point, bleating while on vacation (again) that crushing inflation and gas prices are a chance to “make a fundamental turn” toward green energy. Biden is telegraphing to Americans that he wants them to hurt, and Americans have gotten the message. Further, as former Obama advisor Larry Summers said on Sunday, there is no historical precedent to taming this kind of inflation without a recession. In other words, things are actually going to get worse.

That leads me to the mid-terms. I’m still seeing projections of Republicans only gaining 15-20 seats, with even a few true believers suggesting the Democrats could hold the House. On what planet is that possible given that Biden is this unpopular heading into November’s elections? We are no longer talking about just a normal, first mid-term lull, which likely would have delivered the House to the GOP anyway. We are now talking about a guy who is disapproved of at a historic level, and he is only continuing to press the gas as the country careens toward an economic cliff.

There is no escape here. I know Democrats, especially in the press, like to make themselves feel better by suggesting some Deaux ex Machina could occur prior to voters going to the polls, but that’s essentially an impossibility. With Democrats in charge of all three branches and the fact that congressional races are hundreds of individual contests (i.e. you can’t just take out a single candidate), anything else that happens will simply be placed at the feet of Biden, not blamed on Republicans.

Lastly, the clock has run on economic improvement happening in time for the mid-terms. It’s not possible for inflation to be tamed to any reasonable level by November. It’s also not possible to avoid the stagnation the country is entering into. Biden made this bed with his radical, idiotic policy pursuits, and he’s about to be strapped to it like a gurney.

Whoops: Kamala Bungles History When Talking to Kids About Juneteenth

June 20, 2022 by Nick Arama Leave a Comment

On Monday, Kamala Harris was speaking about the Juneteenth holiday to some elementary school kids. Except she made something of a bad historical blunder in the process.

From the NY Post:

“I think that we all know today is a day to celebrate the principle of freedom,” Harris told a group of about two dozen elementary school-aged children at the National Museum of African American History & Culture in Washington. “And think about it in terms of the context of history, knowing that black people in America were not free for 400 years of slavery.”

“Let this be a day that is a day to celebrate the principle of freedom, but to speak about it honestly and accurately, both in the context of history and current application,” Harris went on during her apparently extemporaneous remarks. [….]

“We should think about it also in terms of current application, asking is everyone we know free?” Harris went on. “Do we know anyone who is not free? Around the world do all people have freedom? Are there those who are without freedom? When we talk about freedom, are we talking about freedom from — or are we talking about the freedom to?”

Except what she said wasn’t honest or accurate since the first slaves came in 1619 and slavery was ended in 1865. That’s 246 years, not 400. She was only about 150 years off.

The White House tried to clean it up, acknowledging the error and saying that she was referring to the fact that it’s been about 400 years since the start of slavery in America. Yeah, no, that isn’t what she said. It’s especially bad that she’s saying that to kids so now kids may be taking away an incorrect understanding of history.

She’s had a problem with this in the past, noting in 2019 that it was “400 years since the first enslaved Africans arrived in the United States.”

Last week marked 400 years since the first enslaved Africans arrived in the United States. Our country’s history of slavery and institutional racism continues to cause great pain and inequality toward communities of color. We have to speak truth and confront this reality.

— Vice President Kamala Harris (@VP) August 27, 2019

Except that wasn’t quite true either, since the United States hadn’t existed for 400 years at that point, only 243 years.

Harris hasn’t been in office that long but she already has compiled an impressive list of cringe-worthy moments and gaffes. She’s become known for her word salads and speaking as though she’s saying something momentous, while not saying much of anything. She’s even been given a new charge (despite not having done much of anything with her border responsibility) — to head up an “internet policy task force” that seems like a re-packaged Disinformation Governance Board. Already the White House doesn’t seem to have any idea what they’re doing regarding that. But, about the best we can say when it comes to Harris is that her list of gaffes doesn’t yet reach the considerably longer list of gaffes of her boss, Joe Biden.
