Russell Brand’s Ex-Lover Breaks Silence: ‘He’s Not the Man They’re Portraying’

September 25, 2023 by Jeff Charles Leave a Comment

The controversy surrounding comedian and podcaster Russell Brand continues to dominate the conversation. A number of media outlets recently published reports in which four women accuse him of sexually abusing or raping them. These decade-old allegations surfaced as Brand has built a prominent platform in the digital space and has been an outspoken voice against the establishment and the systems that influence society.

The allegations are now out in the ether, with elite media outlets continuing to repeat the accusations and societal forces trying to silence his content on various platforms. Now, someone has publicly come to his defense: Tali De Mar, one of Brand’s former lovers, who was involved with him from 2012 to 2013.

In an interview published on Monday, De Mar, who used to be a burlesque performer, recounted her experience with the podcaster and explained that his true personality does not resemble the allegations being levied against him. Her account portrays Brand as an individual struggling to overcome his addiction and other problems. Indeed, Brand has been outspoken about his battle to defeat his addiction to drugs.

“I witnessed and experienced him being very honest with me, very transparent, things that would embarrass other people. He was always someone that wore his heart on his sleeve, and his truth was always what he spoke,” De Mar said.

She continued:

“He’s an easy scapegoat in this situation because everybody knows, because he’s been honest about it, he’s written about it, he’s played the characters, which I also think is what is damning him ultimately because it’s easy to believe for the brainwashed public to think: ‘Well, I saw him in a movie act like that, and I saw him on a talk show act like that. So that must be who he is.’”

At one point in the interview, the host, Colonel Kurtz, asks straight out how Russell Brand treats women. “Did you ever experience any of what you would term abuse from him or any sexual assault or anything like that?” she asked.

De Mar responded, “No, absolutely not. Absolutely not.”

She continued:

I never recognized, witnessed, or experienced any abusive, violent, or manipulative energy or behavior with Russell sexually or anything peripheral within that whole scope of whatever people are saying. I did not experience witness any of that. It was completely consensual. I can tell you, Russell did not need to force himself on anyone. If someone didn’t want to have sex with him, he would just call somebody else, literally. I’m telling you; he had plenty of women that he could have called upon. He did not need to force anybody. So, I absolutely never, never experienced or saw him treat me or anyone or any other woman around me in that way. And I was in scenarios where there were other women around, and there was nothing abusive.

The host then asked what De Mar thought of the anonymous allegations and whether she believed them.

De Mar responded, explaining that Brand “is having to fight ghosts, faceless, nameless people that we don’t know, first of all, if they exist.”

She continued:

“I truly feel if someone is going to accuse someone of anything, especially something so horrid and malicious as rape and sexual assault, that they must also come forward to be spoken to. This is not okay, and this is how MeToo has gotten completely out of control. This is dangerous for women who are truly being abused. This is dangerous for women who are truly being raped, and there are plenty of them out there.”

Russell Brand Facing UK Police Investigation Into Sexual Abuse Allegations

September 25, 2023 by Jeff Charles Leave a Comment

A new development has emerged in the ongoing controversy surrounding comedian and podcaster Russell Brand, who was recently accused publicly of sexually abusing four women. The allegations first became known when The Times and Sunday Times newspapers published reports on the matter. Now, Brand is facing an investigation launched by law enforcement in the United Kingdom.

The allegations include sexual assault and rape. One of the accusers claims Brand carried on a sexual relationship with her when she was only 16 years old. Each of the women making allegations has remained anonymous so far.

British police have opened a sex crimes investigation triggered by news reports about comedian Russell Brand.

London’s Metropolitan Police force said Monday that it had “received a number of allegations of sexual offences” after a television documentary and newspaper investigations. It said there have been no arrests.

Brand, 48, denies allegations of sexual assault made by four women in a Channel 4 television documentary and The Times and Sunday Times newspapers. The accusers, who have not been named, include one who said she was sexually assaulted during a relationship with him when she was 16. Another woman says Brand raped her in Los Angeles in 2012.

The police force did not name Brand in its statement, but referred to the recent articles and documentary. It said detectives were investigating allegations of “non-recent” sexual offenses, both in London and elsewhere.

“We have also received a number of allegations of sexual offences committed elsewhere in the country and will investigate these,” the law enforcement agency noted.

Brand has denied the allegations multiple times and insisted that they are motivated by an effort to silence his anti-establishment voice on digital platforms.

There has also been a concerted effort to suppress the reach of his podcast as a result of the allegations. YouTube recently demonetized his channel, which prompted the comedian to shift his platform primarily to Rumble, another video-sharing site. Nevertheless, there were also attempts to pressure Rumble to demonetize his content there as well. A member of Parliament sent a letter to the company asking if they would further attack Brand’s content. The company refused.

The accusations against Russell Brand have ignited yet another conversation about how the public, press, and digital platforms should respond when there are serious allegations against high-profile public figures. On one side of the debate, some argue that even the existence of allegations – no matter how credible – should mean that the individual should be immediately canceled from their platforms. Others point out that taking this type of rash action could result in someone being punished for actions they did not actually engage in.

Moreover, there is also the politics factor. It seems clear that, despite Brand’s guilt or innocence, this is an attempt to silence the comedian’s voice. Indeed, the same media outlets who are pushing the news about the allegations to the public are the same ones who reviled him for being a “far-right” influencer even though he does not identify as conservative. This issue is also worthy of debate, especially if these folks will all but completely ignore a similar story if it involves someone who toes the line. Either way, it seems that Brand will continue to speak out on Rumble. If it appears that there is enough credibility to the accusations, the market will respond accordingly.
