Biden UAW Photo-Op and Background Story Gets Mocked, Workers Bust Him Over EVs

September 26, 2023 by Nick Arama Leave a Comment

Joe Biden flew into Michigan on Tuesday to “join” the picket line at the UAW strike, as we reported.

According to reports, he was there for a whopping 12 minutes and spent under a minute-and-a-half speaking to them.

Biden spent just 12 minutes on the UAW picket line, and only spoke to strikers for 87 seconds.

Now he’s off to CA for fundraisers where he’ll no doubt push the same EV mandates that are contributing to the strike in the first place by leading to layoffs and lower wages.

— Tommy Pigott (@TommyPigott) September 26, 2023

Biden, although late and in-person, barely spoke to those in attendance, before being ushered back to his limousine.

If this wasn’t a Photo Op, I don’t know what is… https://t.co/Lyxom4CirO

— Anthony Hughes OAN (@CallMeAntwan) September 26, 2023

Could he have done any less for the photo op? I guess at least it was longer than he spent with the people of East Palestine, which is to say no time at all.

Biden also remarked on his history of walking the picket lines in the past. This sounds like a bit of his familiar puffery.

BIDEN: “I marched a lot of UAW picket lines when I was a Senator since 1973. But I tell you what— first time I’ve ever done it as a president.”pic.twitter.com/EJK5YZAHgc

— Insider Paper (@TheInsiderPaper) September 26, 2023

CNN notes he was on a UAW picket line in 2019 when he held no office. But perhaps the more concerning aspect of that statement than the puffery is he’s been in the federal government since 1973, when he joined the Senate. That says how ancient he is at this point to be running again for the most powerful office in the land.

People mocked him for the claim and for only being there for 12 minutes.

Biden and Jimmy Hoffa marched together back in the day. Just ask Joe, he’ll tell ya.

— TexasVet (@TexasVet2022) September 26, 2023

Joe Biden joined UAW workers for 12 minutes while allowing cheap labor to flood the southern border.

Wake up, America.

— Ryan Fournier (@RyanAFournier) September 26, 2023

Some were also circulating this picture of one of the people in attendance at the strike. I don’t know the full context of the look. But whatever was in this guy’s head, it does look like a lot of us feel about Joe Biden’s visit.

Biden spent a whole 12 minutes with the UAW workers this afternoon. They were inspired by Biden’s appearance. 🤣🤣 pic.twitter.com/PpwJmmPH1U

— Patrick🇺🇸 (@oneputtpatrick) September 26, 2023

Other striking workers nailed Biden by pointing out a big part of the harm being done to the industry by the EV mandate that he’s pushing.

Striking auto workers have a message for Biden and his EV obsession:

“We have been the backbone of these companies for so long. Trying to push us out to these electric vehicles — it won’t last. We’re hard-working. We have families. We need this.” pic.twitter.com/OEGssZV14D

— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) September 26, 2023

After the ridiculously short photo op, Biden beat it out of there to a fundraiser in California where he’ll spend longer than 12 minutes and likely talk about why we all need to drive EVs because of the “existential threat.”

Geriatric Confusion and Pandering Abound During Joe Biden’s Trip to the UAW Picket Line

September 26, 2023 by Bonchie Leave a Comment

Joe Biden showed up in Michigan on Tuesday to pledge his support for the UAW as the union continues to strike against American auto manufacturers.

The trip was planned after the UAW president personally invited the president as a way to preempt Donald Trump’s trip to the same area on Wednesday. The former president will also be speaking in support of union members.

Despite both somewhat being on the same side of the issue, I’m sure the contrast with Trump is going to work out very well for Biden, though. After arriving at the picket line, Biden appeared confused at times, and that’s when he wasn’t shamelessly pandering.

“Mr. President, should the UAW get a 40% [pay] increase?”

BIDEN: *confused* pic.twitter.com/Ya8LbCOimv

— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) September 26, 2023

The president wandered around like a lost puppy at times, ignoring questions and struggling to speak through a bullhorn. Once again, he avoided taking a position on the specifics, instead offering a generic endorsement of the union’s fight.

President Biden joins the UAW picket line in Detroit in solidarity with striking autoworkers:

“You deserve the significant raise you need and other benefits.” pic.twitter.com/LPKBTpSWtw

— The Recount (@therecount) September 26, 2023

For reference, the UAW is demanding a 46 percent pay rise coupled with a 32-hour work week. Apparently, Biden thinks that’s a great idea despite the fact that car prices are already through the roof. Are you tired of paying more for goods so politicians can pander to tiny segments of the population yet? I know that I am.

Unfortunately, this is an issue where I and many other conservatives are currently politically homeless. As I mentioned, Trump is also going to Michigan to take the side of the UAW in a gambit to gain voters in 2024. But at what cost?

That’s the question I keep coming back to. For one, I’m not at all convinced following the 2020 and 2022 elections that sucking up to the unions is a winning electoral strategy for any Republican. Secondly, what happens if the UAW succeeds with its strike? Undoubtedly, the car manufacturers will fail (again), and that means you and I will be holding the bag on another bailout. Does that sound fair to anyone?

This was much easier when the two parties weren’t fighting over who gets to simp the hardest for unions. At least then there was a clear ideological divide. But if every decision is now made based on trying to consolidate sub-groups of voters, we truly will be left with nothing but a uni-party.

What’s next? Supporting the teachers’ unions? Because if you go to bat for the UAW despite the outrageous demands of its members, then you are tacitly endorsing the demands of other unions. I find that to not be a preferable outcome.

Ford Gets Cold Feet, Pulls Plug on Multibillion-Dollar China-Backed EV Battery Plant

September 25, 2023 by Bob Hoge Leave a Comment

The Ford Motor Company announced Monday that it is pausing construction on a massive electric battery plant in Michigan that involved a Chinese EV battery company. Notably, the plan had been originally considered for Virginia, but Gov. Glenn Youngkin opposed it due to China’s potential influence in the plan, arguing that “CATL and the Chinese Communist Party would have full operational control over the technology.”

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer had no such qualms, however, and welcomed the plant with open arms as her state government pumped $1 billion into the project.

🏢💸🇨🇳 Gov Whitmer celebrates new Chinese battery plant after giving away $1B+ in state funds so a company w/close ties to the CCP will locate in Michigan⁉️ She said it was “thrilling”. Selling out our state & country isn’t thrilling, it very troubling‼️ https://t.co/GTbcT7BEv0

— Rich Studley, Michigander (@rstudley) September 20, 2023

It’s not clear why Ford got cold feet:

Ford said in a statement to FOX Business that work on the factory had been paused and spending would be limited, but declined to pinpoint the exact considerations that factored into the decision. The Detroit-based company also said it hadn’t made a final decision about the project despite repeatedly defending it for months.

“We’re pausing work and limiting spending on construction on the Marshall project until we’re confident about our ability to competitively operate the plant,” Ford spokesperson T.R. Reid told FOX Business. “We haven’t made any final decision about the planned investment there.”

Ford had initially planned on spending upwards of $3.5 billion on the project in Marshall, Michigan. It was hoped it would produce at least 2,500 jobs.

Concerns had been raised by multiple groups, including the House Ways and Means Committee, about the wisdom of partnering with the Chinese on such a critical project. A group of House Republicans wrote a letter earlier in September to Ford CEO Jim Farley blasting the plan:

“While Ford has labeled this project a ‘commitment to American manufacturing’ and asserts it will create 2,500 new American jobs, we are concerned that Ford’s partnership with a Chinese company could aid China’s efforts to expand its control over United States electric vehicle supply chains and jeopardize national security by furthering dependence on China,” they stated in their letter.

“Should China gain control of domestic electric vehicle production, the United States would be exposed to serious national security risks at a time of escalating geopolitical tensions.”

Not surprisingly, the United Auto Workers Union, which is currently on strike against General Motors, Stellantis, and Ford, was infuriated by the news:

UAW PRESIDENT SHAWN FAIN STATEMENT ON FORD’S ANNOUNCEMENT TO PAUSE CONSTRUCTION ON MARSHALL EV BATTERY PLANT:

“This is a shameful, barely-veiled threat by Ford to cut jobs. Closing 65 plants over the last 20 years wasn’t enough for the Big Three, now they want to threaten us…

— UAW (@UAW) September 25, 2023

Here’s the rest of the tweet:

This is a shameful, barely-veiled threat by Ford to cut jobs. Closing 65 plants over the last 20 years wasn’t enough for the Big Three, now they want to threaten us with closing plants that aren’t even open yet. We are simply asking for a just transition to electric vehicles and Ford is instead doubling down on their race to the bottom.

Although Ford has thus far not given an exact reason for the shutdown, one has to ask why such a plan was considered in the first place. The People’s Republic of China is our number one competitor in the world, and should relations deteriorate further, it’s not wise or strategic to put them in a position of such power in our crucial automobile industry.

Couldn’t they find an American company that could do the job?

UAW President Disses Billionaires and Millionaires Like Trump but Forgets Biden Is in That Club Also

September 21, 2023 by Duke Leave a Comment

Some days, you just have to sit back and wonder why the opposition never learns.

Then, of course, there are other days where you watch them slowly dig a hole that they have no idea is leading them to a place they will never be able to crawl out of. That’s when you hope you have an adequate amount of Cherry Coke and some Raisinets to just sit back and enjoy the show.

That is what UAW leadership is doing right now with their act of not taking a look at their own corruption over the past 30 years but focusing on the big orange boogeyman that is Donald Trump. I suspect more and more blue-collar types are going to be wondering what are they paying leadership for very soon.

I wrote a bit earlier this week:  The UAW Should Be Striking the Biden Administration Over the Push to End Auto Jobs. Turns out, I was spot on with this, and we shall see why in a moment.

However, let’s first grab a glimpse of what I wrote from the article linked above.

When I read this piece here and looked at some of the numbers of how many jobs would be lost to the transition to electric vehicles I was amazed that the union leadership even gives a dime to the Democrats.

President Joe Biden praised General Motors chief executive Mary Barra at a 2022 event, saying “we owe you big” for pushing the auto industry towards all-electric production over the next decade. The president’s kind words for Barra, and their decision to team up to back a transition to electric vehicles, could come back to haunt both parties amid a historic United Auto Workers strike.

The 150,000-member union has singled out Barra as an example of corporate greed at the “Big Three” automakers, a group that also includes Ford and Stellantis. UAW, which launched a strike at four auto plants last week, took a shot at Barra over her industry-leading $29 million annual salary. UAW president Shawn Fain declared “war” on the Big Three last month, citing the $200 million Barra has raked in over the past decade. The union wants a hefty increase to salaries and benefits for its members, along with assurances that jobs will be protected during the transition to EV production.

That dramatic shift will likely come at a steep cost in terms of auto industry jobs, and the transition to electric vehicles is at the center of the auto workers’ complaints. According to one estimate, the transition to EV production will come at the cost of 117,000 auto jobs.

This, to me, was the final kick in the nether regions if I were a worker for the United Auto Workers.

“The workers who are making engines and transmissions today, their jobs will be eliminated when we make a transition to electric vehicles,” UAW research director Jennifer Kelly said earlier this year. And Jim Farley, the CEO of Ford, said last year he expects electric vehicles will require 40 percent less labor to produce than traditional automobiles.

So, the UAW President took a break from acting like he cared about his membership and said a couple of things that contained some cool nuggets right here.

I mean, cool if you are totally unaware.

UAW President Shawn Fain took a shot at former President Donald Trump this week in an emailed statement, saying that we shouldn’t be electing “billionaires and millionaires.”

Go on, Shawn, tell us how you really feel.

Fain’s statement came following the news that Trump would skip the second GOP debate to instead visit striking auto workers in Michigan.

“Every fiber of our union is being poured into fighting the billionaire class and an economy that enriches people like Donald Trump at the expense of workers,” Fain said in a statement. “We can’t keep electing billionaires and millionaires that don’t have any understanding what it is like to live paycheck to paycheck and struggle to get by and expecting them to solve the problems of the working class.”

Yikes.

How about electing those who make sure their son, who has had a problem or two in the past, gets high-paying gigs that he does not have a shred of experience for so that he can give his “cut” to the big guy?

I’m sure the kids over at Solidarity House just plain missed this piece from Nick Arama which helped explain that both Joe and Hunter are millionaires. Oversight Dems Just Made Huge Admission About Relationship Between Hunter’s Biz Associate and Joe Biden.

However, as we’ve noted before, you had millions of dollars from the foreign dealings going into Biden family accounts. You also had a lot of conflation of the money between Joe and Hunter Biden, including money from Hunter going to Joe. So let’s grill Schwerin over all those instances and how much of “Hunter’s” money went to Joe, and let’s get that on the record since Schwerin was also taking care of Hunter’s finances. Let’s start putting Biden family members and more associates under oath as well.

So, if most of the Democrats who receive UAW contributions and have spent a lifetime in public service are millionaires, why do the union folks in leadership keep supporting them?

It’s lip service, folks.

The Dirty Little Secret revealed by the federal investigation into UAW leadership a number of years back that resulted in two former UAW presidents spending some time in the pokey is that the union leadership is every bit as corrupt as the CEOs of the corporations they represent their membership against. They had been ripping off union dues and their ilk for years, and they just got so sloppy at it that they got caught.

So, as the 2016 election proved for Donald Trump, even though he won by a slim margin, blue-collar workers crossed the voting line and voted for him. Trump making the decision to skip the second GOP debate in California and do a speech here in Detroit on September 27th has got Shawn and the kids a little bit worried that his message is going to resonate a bit too close to home and make the rank and file wonder.

How can you criticize billionaires and millionaires when you actually support them with union dues?

How can you criticize a former president who was actually willing to put up tariffs to support your jobs here and go to war trade-wise with China?

Also, one who is not in love with electric vehicles and doesn’t want to put over 100,000 UAW members out of work in the transition to going all-electric vehicles?

So, enjoy more empty rhetoric from all sides while this strike goes longer. However, expect the union leadership to start sweating a bit more when it goes long enough where that 500-dollar-a-week strike fund starts to stretch a striking family a bit thin with the high cost of living under millionaire Joe Biden and his Bidenomics plan.
