Media Research Center: Elon Musk’s Twitter Censors *More* than Prior Year

The Media Research Center has reported an increase in censorship and harsher penalties for users since Elon Musk took over as CEO of Twitter. Tweets critical of the transgender movement resulted in 62 percent of censorship since the company has been owned by alleged “free speech absolutist” Elon Musk.

According to a recently released study by the Media Research Center (MRC), Twitter has tightened its speech restrictions on the platform since Elon Musk bought the platform. The data gathered by the MRC’s CensorTrack.org database shows a marked increase in censorship cases under Musk’s leadership, despite his prior claims that he is a “free speech absolutist.”

From November 4, 2022, to March 4, 2023, there were 293 documented instances of censorship on Twitter, according to the MRC. Comparing this to the 226 cases reported during the same time period the year before, there has been a noticeable increase. The study also showed that censorship practices have gotten harsher.

“In 245 of the 293 (84%) documented cases of censorship on CensorTrack.org, Twitter locked users’ accounts, and in nearly all cases, users were required to delete the content to regain access to their accounts,” the MRC reported. In contrast, only 136 of the 226 (or 60%) documented cases under the previous Twitter administration involved locked accounts.

Furthermore, the MRC discovered that tweets criticizing transgenderism were involved in 62 percent of the censorship cases under Musk. “At least 182 of the 293 (62%) documented cases of censorship recorded in the CensorTrack.org database for Twitter under Musk involved users being censored for speech critical of the left’s woke ‘transgender’ narrative.”

This escalating censorship has impacted numerous prominent users, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Federalist CEO Sean Davis, and several journalists. After a transgender shooter tragically murdered three children and three staff members at the Christian Covenant School in Nashvillle, Tennessee, multiple Twitter accounts were locked for reporting on the “Trans Day Of Vengeance.”

Davis was both locked out of his account and accused of promoting violence by Twitter, both of which he vehemently denies. Twitter justified the censorship by asserting that Davis’ tweet broke the platform’s “against violent speech” rules. “Twitter has a right to ban me for whatever reason it wants, but it doesn’t have a right to viciously lie about me,” Davis wrote in response to the ban.

Other users have also experienced Twitter’s more stringent censorship practices, including the senior editor of the Federalist, John Davidson, who was banned for tweeting that Rachel Levine, the transgender assistant secretary for health in the Biden administration, is biologically male. Davidson has been banned from his account for a full year. Since Musk bought Twitter, Davis and Davidson have both appealed their cases, but their accounts are still blocked.

Musk once referred to Twitter as the “de facto town square” and argued that “failing to adhere to free speech principles fundamentally undermines democracy.” However, the data and anecdotal evidence provided by the MRC’s study paint a different picture, suggesting that Musk’s vision of a “free speech absolutist” Twitter has not come to fruition.

“No amount of lofty rhetoric or grandiose plans from Musk about his love of free speech and facts can compete with the cold, hard reality that the service he owns doesn’t just oppose free speech; Twitter detests it,” Davis commented on the matter.

‘Free Speech Absolutist’ Elon Musk’s Twitter Locks Account of New York Post – Again

Elon Musk’s Twitter locked the New York Post out of its account on Thursday after it posted a story about the social media platform deleting more than 5,000 tweets about the Trans Radical Activist Network (TRAN)’s upcoming “Trans Day of Vengeance.”

Twitter prevented the New York Post from tweeting from its main account after it shared its own news article on the removal of thousands of tweets raising awareness to the fact that a planned “Trans Day of Vengeance” is set to take place in Washington, D.C. just days after a transgender school shooter killed six people, three of them 9-year-old children, in Nashville.

Ironically, Twitter’s new CEO Elon Musk previously said that the social media platform’s crackdown on the Post during the 2020 presidential election over its bombshell story about Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop was “incredibly inappropriate.”

The outlet noted that its account, which boasts 2.8 million followers, was eventually restored after 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Monday, 28-year-old Audrey Hale, who believed she was a male, stalked the halls of Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, where she killed three children and three adults before she was successfully taken down by authorities.

After being asked by reporters if there was “any reason to believe that how she identifies has any motive for targeting the school,” Nashville Police Chief John Drake replied, “There is some theory to that,” indicating that transgender propaganda played a role in Hale’s motive.

Meanwhile, the Trans Radical Activist Network was planning to move forward with it “Trans Day of Vengeance” in front of the Supreme Court this weekend.

Conservative accounts reacted by raising awareness to the radical transgender activists’ plans, but were suspended from Twitter as a result.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), conservative radio legend Michael Savage, The Federalist CEO Sean Davis, and journalist and author Andy Ngo were some of the conservatives locked out of their Twitter accounts for talking about the upcoming “Trans Day of Vengeance.”

‘We Are All Going to Die:’ Researcher Calls for Advanced AI Projects to Be Shut Down

A loud voice of doom in the debate over AI has emerged: Eliezer Yudkowsky of the Machine Intelligence Research Institute, who is calling for a total shutdown on the development of AI models more powerful than GPT-4, owing to the possibility that it could kill “every single member of the human species and all biological life on Earth.”

Yudkowsky’s apocalyptic warning came in response to an open letter from 1,000 experts and tech leaders, including Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and Tesla and Twitter CEO Elon Musk, calling for a six month moratorium on the development of AI technologies more powerful than OpenAI’s GPT-4.

In an article for Time Ideas, Yudkowsky states he did not sign the letter because he does not believe a six month moratorium goes far enough, imagining a scenario in which an uncontrollable AI begins manufacturing biological viruses.

To visualize a hostile superhuman AI, don’t imagine a lifeless book-smart thinker dwelling inside the internet and sending ill-intentioned emails. Visualize an entire alien civilization, thinking at millions of times human speeds, initially confined to computers—in a world of creatures that are, from its perspective, very stupid and very slow. A sufficiently intelligent AI won’t stay confined to computers for long. In today’s world you can email DNA strings to laboratories that will produce proteins on demand, allowing an AI initially confined to the internet to build artificial life forms or bootstrap straight to postbiological molecular manufacturing.

If somebody builds a too-powerful AI, under present conditions, I expect that every single member of the human species and all biological life on Earth dies shortly thereafter.

Yudkowsky went on to call for a total global shutdown on advanced AIs, enforced by U.S. air power if necessary.

The moratorium on new large training runs needs to be indefinite and worldwide. There can be no exceptions, including for governments or militaries. If the policy starts with the U.S., then China needs to see that the U.S. is not seeking an advantage but rather trying to prevent a horrifically dangerous technology which can have no true owner and which will kill everyone in the U.S. and in China and on Earth. If I had infinite freedom to write laws, I might carve out a single exception for AIs being trained solely to solve problems in biology and biotechnology, not trained on text from the internet, and not to the level where they start talking or planning; but if that was remotely complicating the issue I would immediately jettison that proposal and say to just shut it all down.

Shut down all the large GPU clusters (the large computer farms where the most powerful AIs are refined). Shut down all the large training runs. Put a ceiling on how much computing power anyone is allowed to use in training an AI system, and move it downward over the coming years to compensate for more efficient training algorithms. No exceptions for governments and militaries. Make immediate multinational agreements to prevent the prohibited activities from moving elsewhere. Track all GPUs sold. If intelligence says that a country outside the agreement is building a GPU cluster, be less scared of a shooting conflict between nations than of the moratorium being violated; be willing to destroy a rogue datacenter by airstrike.

While Yudkowsky’s warnings seem extreme, they are not outside the norm for AI researchers and futurologists, who have long debated the outcome of a “technological singularity” in which the reasoning capabilities of machines — and their capability to create newer, more intelligent versions of themselves — outstrip humanity’s and humanity’s ability to control it. Some predict utopia. Others, like Yudkowsky, predict catastrophe.

Elon Musk’s Twitter Restricts Conservatives Raising Alarm About ‘Trans Day of Vengeance’

Elon Musk’s Twitter has restricted accounts of prominent conservative politicians, journalists, and activists that are raising awareness about the fact that radical transgender activists called for a “Trans Day of Vengeance” ahead of the mass shooting at a Nashville Christian school, carried out by a woman who identified as transgender.

One of the suspended accounts included Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who reportedly tweeted an image of a poster advertising the upcoming “Trans Day of Vengeance” event, which is being hosted by the Trans Radical Activist Network.

“My Congressional account was suspended for 7 days for exposing Antifa, who are organizing a call for violence called ‘Trans Day of Vengeance,’” Greene said. “The day after the mass murder of children by a trans shooter.”

Ella Irwin, Twitter’s head of trust and safety, said in a separate tweet that Twitter is automatically removing images of the poster due to fear it could incite violence. The images being removed are those posted by conservatives and others raising awareness about the threat. Elon Musk’s censors had no issues with the original tweets of the poster posted by transgender activists until the new crackdown.

“We had to automatically sweep our platform and remove >5000 tweets /retweets of this poster,” she said. “We do not support tweets that incite violence irrespective of who posts them. ‘Vengeance’ does not imply peaceful protest. Organizing or support for peaceful protests is ok.”

In another tweet, Irwin also insisted that “We have not applied any strikes to anyone. Just restricted the media,” to which Greene responded by saying, “This is a lie.”

Greene is not the only account suspended on Twitter due to raising awareness about what radical transgender activists are planning.

The Federalist CEO Sean Davis was also restricted for allegedly violating Twitter’s rules regarding “violent speech.”

“The cold-blooded mass murder at a Christian school in Nashville by an apparent transgender person came just days before a planned ‘Trans Day of Vengeance’ organized by the Trans Radical Activist Network,” Davis tweeted.

Journalist and author Andy Ngo was also locked out of his Twitter account for reporting about the “Trans Day of Vengeance.”

“hey asshole, the only people your new company is mass suspending today, en masse, are the only ones still defending you,” Stephen L. Miller told the Twitter CEO.

The “Trans Day of Vengeance” poster highlights a rally that is set to be held this weekend in Washington, D.C.

On Saturday, the radical transgender activists will reportedly hold a “Trans Day of Vengeance” demonstration outside of the Supreme Court, where they will complain about the alleged “hate from the world.”

“We need more visibility,” reads the poster, which goes on to urge people to gather in Washington, D.C. to “stop trans genocide.”

The event will take place just days after 28-year-old Audrey Elizabeth Hale — who reportedly believed she was a male — stalked the halls of Covenant School in Nashville, where she killed three children and three adults before she was successfully taken down by authorities.

Video footage of police responding to the mass shooting showed them firing multiple shots at the transgender until she was eventually put down, ending her carnage at Covenant School.

After being asked by reporters if there was “any reason to believe that how she identifies has any motive for targeting the school,” Nashville Police Chief John Drake said, “There is some theory to that,” indicating that transgender propaganda played a role in Hale’s motive.

“We have a manifesto,” Drake revealed. “We have some writings that we’re going over that pertain to this date of the actual incident. We have a map drawn out of how this was all going to take place.”

Elon Musk responds to Glenn Beck’s interview with friend David Sacks on ‘bronze tier’ US foreign policy

Glenn Beck’s interview with David Sacks caught the attention of Elon Musk Sunday, when the Twitter CEO echoed concerns about the State Department’s controversial efforts to expand NATO amid the conflict in Ukraine.

“US foreign policy is bronze tier on a good day!” Elon Musk tweeted, responding to a clip from Beck’s interview with Sacks that premiered Saturday on “The Glenn Beck Podcast.”

“How likely do you think it is that we’d be headed towards war, and what does that mean?” Beck asked, noting that China and Russia are becoming more closely allied.

“I’ve been warning about this since the Ukraine situation started,” PayPal’s founding COO, venture capitalist, and “The Diversity Myth” author David Sacks replied, explaining that the United States has become a “co-belligerent” in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Sacks backed up his statement about the “proxy war of choice” by noting that the United States is providing money, weapons, and intelligence.

Sacks highlighted the United States’ controversial actions of “painting targets” on Russian generals’ backs and bragging about providing intelligence used to sink the Moskva, a Russian flagship. Beck responded by asking listeners to imagine the reaction if Soviet political leader Leonid Brezhnev had taken similar actions during the Vietnam War.

“We engaged in a series of actions going back to 2008 that the Russians viewed as highly provocative,” Sacks said, adding that Russia repeatedly warned that attempts to bring Ukraine into NATO were “categorically unacceptable.”

“We have these crusaders at the State Department who just want to continue expanding NATO,” Sacks said.

The United States’ reaction to the Soviet Union attempting to put nuclear weapons in Cuba in 1962 is comparable to Russia’s reaction today to attempts to bring Ukraine into NATO, according to Sacks. He said both moves, from the perspective of the respective countires, could be considered an “intolerable security threat.”

Sacks also discussed his friendship with Musk during the interview.

“I think what he’s done at Twitter with the Twitter files is incredible,” Sacks said, adding that he has known the billionaire Twitter, Tesla, and SpaceX businessman for more than 20 years.

“What you see is really what you get with him,” Sacks also said. Beck and Sacks later discussed Musk’s musings about the possibility that we’re all living in a simulation.

Musk’s response to the interview with Sacks was not the first time he commented on Beck’s shows.

Musk also commented on Beck’s interview with “San Fransicko” author Dr. Michael Shellenberger in January. Shellenberger characterized Musk’s purchase of the world’s most used social media platformsocial media platform as a “major roadblock for the World Economic Forum’s agenda.”

“I think he’s seen the dark side of that hyper-wokeism,” Shellenberger said. “His purchase of Twitter is maybe the most significant thing he’s done.”

“He’s basically said ordinary people should be on an equal platform … and we should stop censoring ordinary folks because the elites demand it,” Shellenberger told Beck.

“Citizen journalism is vital to the future of civilization,” Musk responded.
