Chuck Schumer Makes a Cowardly Move After Tucker Carlson Calls His Bluff

May 17, 2022 by Sister Toldjah Leave a Comment

The Usual Suspects on the left and in the mainstream media (but I repeat myself) have been busy the last few days doing one of the things they do best, blaming “the right” – Fox News host Tucker Carlson in particular – for the horrific mass shooting that happened at a Buffalo grocery store Saturday that killed ten people and injured three more in what appears to be a racially-motivated attack.

Carlson has been bearing the brunt of the criticism from Democrats and their media allies in the aftermath of the attack, but during his program Monday night, he made his critics look even more childish and foolish, delivering a spot-on commentary focusing on how nauseatingly predictable the left has become after these tragedies happen in their dangerous calls for limiting speech and in the process deliberately escalating race wars for political gain, both of which accomplish absolutely nothing beyond keeping entrenched and feckless Democrats in power a little while longer.

And in a perfect example of life imitating art, Sen. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) set about proving Carlson’s point in an a nasty-gram he wrote to Fox News executives “imploring” them to shush Carlson’s alleged racist rantings:

In a letter to Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch, Fox CEO Suzanne Scott, and Fox president Jay Wallace, Chuck Schumer says he urges Fox News to “immediately cease the reckless amplification of the so-called ‘Great Replacement’ theory…” pic.twitter.com/9FbUYrMtBi

— Oliver Darcy (@oliverdarcy) May 17, 2022

Not surprisingly, though Schumer blamed Carlson for the Buffalo murders and pointed to some of the things the shooter wrote in his manifesto, he conveniently left out the part about how the anti-Semitic shooter noted how he hated … Fox News, in particular the Jewish media figures on the network. Also, Tucker Carlson’s name was not found anywhere in the 180-page manifesto.

True to form, after either his bosses shared the letter with him or after he saw it on social media, Carlson called Schumer’s bluff, asking him to come on his show and talk to him directly – presumably about the allegations Schumer leveled against him (which you’ll note Schumer provided zero evidence for in his letter beyond citing various “analyses” from wildly left-wing “news” outlets) as well as what his “solutions” were beyond censoring Tucker Carlson.

Schumer’s response? He took the cowardly way out by “declining” the offer:

.@TuckerCarlson invited me on his show tonight to debate the letter I sent to @FoxNews.

I’m declining. Tucker Carlson needs to stop promoting the racist, dangerous ‘Replacement Theory’.

— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) May 17, 2022

In fact, calling it “cowardly” is actually an understatement. Schumer is the highest-ranking elected Jewish leader in America, and he and his sycophants on the left and in the press are accusing Carlson of spouting dangerous rhetoric that harms not just black people but also Hispanics and members of the Jewish community. What better way to stand up for your community than to go toe to toe with the popular commentator who you’ve loudly accused of putting their lives at risk?

But Schumer won’t do it, because, like most other Democrats, he apparently believes virtue signaling on Twitter, whipping up outrage mobs, and writing sternly worded letters which they hope will be the basis for getting their political opposition canceled is so much more effective than not only defending your position but calling out the object of your ire face to face.

And while Schumer is sending off angry missives to Fox News, what he won’t tell you is how there are things he’s said and done in the powerful positions he’s held during his lengthy time in public office that are far more dangerous and potentially inciteful than anything Tucker Carlson has ever said, including his nasty threat to the conservative Supreme Court Justices in March 2020, where he declared to Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh that “You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price. You will not know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”

Most recently, Schumer proclaimed that the aggressive protests that are being coordinated by militant radical pro-abortion fanatics outside of the homes of some of the Justices – complete with their addresses and map information being shared online – were okay in his book, despite the fact that such protests are actually against the law according to the U.S. Code and also despite the fact that some of the Justices, including Samuel Alito, have had to go into hiding due to reported threats against him and his family.

The nickname “Chuckles the Clown” Schumer has never been more fitting than it is now. Unfortunately, this particular clown is far more dangerous than he is funny.

Rand Paul and Chip Roy Make Courageous and Righteous Votes on the Ukraine Aid Package

May 13, 2022 by streiff Leave a Comment

Thomas Jefferson, among others, is credited for saying, “one man with courage is a majority.” If the one man is a US Senator and an issue before the Senate requires “unanimous consent,” it becomes literally true. Yesterday, that aphorism was played out on the floor of the Senate as the speeding freight train of a $40 billion aid package for Ukraine.

The massive appropriation bill cleared the House Tuesday. In what has become a common procedure for mammoth multi-billion dollar spending bills, there were no briefings by the executive branch on the proposed use of the money, no subcommittee or committee hearings, no debate, and no opportunity for members even to read the bill. Texas Representative Chip Roy didn’t sit idly by, but a single representative can’t slow down a determined House majority (see Chip Roy Delivers a Rebuke of the $40B Ukraine Slush Fund Bill Everyone Should See) even if that majority is led by a visibly addled Nancy Pelosi (Pelosi’s Reason Why Americans Should Support $40 Billion for Ukraine Defies Belief).

When the bill arrived in the Senate, it met a different fate.

The Democratic and Republican leaders of the Senate tried to fast track a nearly $40 billion U.S. aid package to help Ukraine in its fight against Russia, only to be blocked by Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, pushing passage of the bill into next week.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) came to the chamber floor together to request unanimous agreement from all 100 senators to allow a vote on the bill immediately.

Mr. Paul objected. Without his consent to move more quickly, Mr. Schumer scheduled the first in a series of procedural votes for Monday afternoon to move the bill toward final passage late next week.

My colleague, Sarah Lee, has more on the story in her post titled Rand Paul Can’t Stop the $40 Billion Bound for Ukraine, but He Can Stall It (And He Did).

Paul took to Twitter to explain his vote.

All I requested is an amendment to be included in the final bill that allows for the Inspector General to oversee how funds are spent. Anyone who is opposed to this is irresponsible.

— Rand Paul (@RandPaul) May 13, 2022

It’s threatening our own national security, and it’s frankly a slap in the face to millions of taxpayers who are struggling to buy gas, groceries, and find baby formula.

— Rand Paul (@RandPaul) May 13, 2022

To anyone reading my posts, it will be no surprise when I say that I am 100% behind the United States and NATO supporting Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression. (You’ll also see that I can’t be classified as a Rand Paul fan, either.) Furthermore, I am in favor of providing Ukraine with equipment and training that will allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to overmatch the Russians in the current war or any future war. What the war has demonstrated, in my view, is that any attempt to treat Russia as a responsible trade and security partner is not merely ill-advised; it is profoundly stupid. It is a dangerous mad dog, and the rest of the world needs to treat it as such.

I think there have been some unfair criticisms directed at our aid to Ukraine; my colleague Nick Arama covers some here, Troubling Questions About How Many of Our Weapons Are Going to Ukraine and If They’re Getting to Frontlines.

For instance, sending most of our Stinger and Javelin inventory to Ukraine is a blessing. We don’t need them right now, and the only possible enemy we would need to use them against in large quantities is getting its ass kicked by the same weapons. Both weapons systems need upgrading. The Stinger MANPADS is so old that Raytheon can no longer manufacture them because the components don’t exist.

Raytheon chief warns of delays in replenishing Stinger missile stocks https://t.co/JMShO7ZDtC

Quote: CEO of Raytheon Technologies told investors Tuesday that the company won’t be able to ramp up production of Stinger missiles until 2023, due to a lack of parts and materials.

— Amy Bean (@YesThatTrinity) April 26, 2022

The Javelin production lines are mothballed. Starting production to refill war stocks will let Stinger and Javelin undergo a redesign and bring the production facilities back on line. I’ll admit, control of weapons, once you sell/transfer them, is a dicey issue. My gut feeling is that the fear and panic about the illegal movement of these weapons, and more capable ones like the British NLAW and Starstreak, is overblown. And, quite honestly, unless you advocate sending inventory control clerks onto Ukrainian battlefields to hand out the weapons as needed, the only other solution is not sending any weapons at all.

That said, the slapdash and dishonest way the aid to Ukraine is being managed will, in the long run, do much more damage to Ukraine’s ability to defend itself and rebuild after the war than any short-term good. Because you know as well as I do that the same people yammering about George Soros and corruption will claim the money was lost to Ukrainian oligarchs when it is all going to US contractors, primarily defense industry contractors.

The defense industry is not only banking on the ramp-up of stinger missile and javelin production, but all the justified new future military spending due to the #Ukraine war, too. @WilliamHartung @JuliaGledhill add it up: https://t.co/3SkYogojTq

— Responsible Statecraft (@RStatecraft) April 19, 2022

Forty billion dollars is a crap ton of money. We appropriated $19 billion for the same purpose just two months ago. How the hell can it have been spent in a prudent and effective manner? Has anyone bothered to look at what that first bill purchased in relation to what this one does?

When this new bill passes Congress, it means that since February, we have matched Russia’s annual defense budget, dollar-for-dollar, in our aid to Ukraine.

The US has Congress has voted to fund Ukraine’s military at nearly the level of the Russian defense budget. pic.twitter.com/ImbPew5mpA

— streiff (@streiffredstate) May 13, 2022

There is no way possible that programs can spend that amount of money wisely. Worse than that, there will be no incentive to do so. Appropriating this amount of money without creating and funding an inspector general organization dedicated to monitoring the expenditures is just begging for waste, fraud, and abuse. As abuse stories trickle out, the political price will not be borne by Pelosi and Schumer and McConnell who tried to rubberstamp this massive spending spree; it will be Ukraine two or three years in the future when help is really needed, and all anyone recalls is the $40 billion boondoggle that Joe Biden rammed through Congress as he tried to use to save his presidency.

The messaging to Russia that we’re willing to spend as much money as it takes to beat you might be powerful, but the perception that we are willing to accept food shortages, supply chain breakdowns, a crashing stock market, double-digit inflation, and home loan interest rates doubling while spending $40 on a foreign war.

Rand Paul and Chip Roy are correct. Not only is this monstrous spending bill terrible economic policy and, I think, bad defense policy, but it is also contributing to Congress’s drift towards being a rubber stamp for Democrat presidents. It is wrong, and it needs to stop.

Now They're on Record: Democrats Overwhelmingly Vote to Allow Abortion up to Birth

May 11, 2022 by Brandon Morse Leave a Comment

Let it be known that the politicians of the Democrat Party in Washington are either evil or cowardly with the exception of one.

Reports say that Democrats had brought Roe v Wade to the floor in order to codify it into law. The goal was to legalize abortion nationwide up until birth with what would be no limits. As you can imagine, every single Republican voted against this and they were joined by none other than West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin who had indicated that he’d vote against it earlier in the day.

This resulted in Democrats being 11 votes shy of what they needed to pass Roe into law.

BREAKING: 49 of 50 Senate Democrats just voted to legalize abortion nationwide until BIRTH with effectively no limits.

Every Republican voted against it.

— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) May 11, 2022

Democrats knew they were going to lose this fight. It was primarily to mobilize voters as admitted by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. The real goal was to make Republicans go on record as having voted against it.

“Republicans are going to have to go on record as to whether they want this to be the first generation of American women with less freedom than their mothers,” said Washington Democrat Senator Patty Murphy.

But instead, they gave Republicans exactly what they asked for; a way to point out exactly how radical and extreme Democrats have become. All of them, save Manchin, voting to terminate pregnancies up until the moment of birth is one of the more extreme stances one can take, and Democrats just put the vast majority of their party in that column.

They just handed Republicans another narrative victory.

“They’re not even attempting to nuance this at all,” said South Dakota Republican John Thune. “It’s all, you know, abortion up to the point of birth … which doesn’t even attempt to try and win over people who might be persuadable if they were a little less aggressive in their approach. They’ve decided they’re going full monty on this.”

To make it worse, RedState reported on Wednesday that most voters aren’t on board with the extremism Democrats have gone to when it comes to abortion. Recent polling shows that voters support restrictions on abortion at a whopping 85 percent.

We’re looking at a shockingly out-of-touch Democrat Party that has just admitted to the people that they’re as extreme as the Republicans have been claiming they are.

Schumer Laughs About Protests at SCOTUS Justices' Homes as Justice Alito Goes Into Hiding

May 11, 2022 by Nick Arama Leave a Comment

The Democrats don’t seem to care about protecting the integrity of another branch of government, the Supreme Court. Rather, they seem content allowing the Court to be intimidated during consideration of a pending decision, simply declaring “peaceful protest” much as CNN did during the BLM/Antifa riots.

As we reported, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was encouraging the protests to specifically change the opinion of the Court, and White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki is treating the Court’s safety and integrity as though it’s just about a battle with the Republicans and she has no responsibility to the Court or the law.

Reporters also asked Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer what he thought about the protests. After the leak, Schumer leveled a veiled threat at the justices by claiming that some of them had lied to the members of the Senate which was itself a lie. In his latest remarks, Schumer downplayed the threats to the justices, saying he was constantly being protested and didn’t address the law that prohibits such protest meant to influence judges. He also laughed about the protests.

“Are you comfortable with protests that we saw outside the homes of Supreme Court justices over the weekend?”

CHUCK SCHUMER: “Yes”pic.twitter.com/lUYITm73fZ

— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) May 11, 2022

“That’s the American way to peacefully protest,” Schumer said.

No, it isn’t the “American way” to protest at people’s homes or to obstruct justice in a pending case. And it’s not the American way to laugh at intimidating the Supreme Court. It’s wrong to go to a politician’s home but at least they are supposed to be subject to political opinion. The courts are not, they are supposed to be a bastion of independence, apart from politics. Decisions are not supposed to be forced upon a judge by a mob. That’s why there’s a federal law against it.

That’s why the polls are resoundingly rejecting this Democratic approach and protests at the homes of the justices. It’s the American way to support the rule of law that Democrats are ignoring here. Can we say supporting insurrection?

Schumer treats it all very lightly, as though there are no concerns despite the threats that have been made to the judges on social media. Justice Samuel Alito — who wrote the leaked draft opinion — has reportedly had to flee his home, according to Katie Pavlich, who confirmed it with law enforcement and noted that our Townhall colleague Rebecca Downs has also received threats just for reporting it.

. @Rebeccarosegold has been getting threatening phone calls for reporting the fact that Justice Alito had to leave his home after the Roe v. Wade leak. I talked to a source tonight who said the Justice is not home and a local law enforcement official confirmed he had to leave.

— Katie Pavlich (@KatiePavlich) May 11, 2022

Yet Schumer laughs and doesn’t take it seriously. Who is it that is trashing norms again?

Biden’s Plan to Reduce Gas Prices Proves to Be a Miserable Failure

May 10, 2022 by Nick Arama Leave a Comment

How’s that working, Joe Biden’s plan to drop gas prices?

About as well as the non-existent plan that he ran on to defeat COVID.

The average price of gas in the U.S. just hit its highest mark ever — $4.37 a gallon, according to AAA.

NEW RECORD high gas prices. AAA reports US average is now $4.37 per gallon, dwarfing previous record set March 11. pic.twitter.com/m8oC2c0Fi7

— Pete Muntean (@petemuntean) May 10, 2022

Now, that’s the average. In some places, like California, that average would look like Nirvana if they got to see those prices again. The state average there is approaching $6.00. It’s up $1.41 since last year and 17 cents since last week.

This, despite Joe Biden’s claims that he’s doing something about it by depleting our emergency supply. Biden announced in March that he would be releasing 180 million barrels — one million barrels a day for six months — the largest release since the reserve was created back in 1974. But we see how unsuccessful that has been because it’s not addressing the problem. It’s just emptying our savings account so if we truly hit an emergency, we’ll be up a creek without a paddle. Biden also said that the EPA would be allowing the sale of E15 gasoline — ethanol-blended gasoline to supplement the supply. He was hoping that would bring the prices down just before the election, even if they might shoot up afterward. But that hasn’t worked.

Joe Biden has blamed Vladimir Putin and the war in Ukraine, despite the fact that the prices began going up long before the war. So far, nothing that he’s done has resolved the basic problem as the prices continue to rise. That’s because the whole orientation since he came in has been anti-energy including things like shutting down pipelines and trying to end drilling on federal lands. They’re not concerned about the pain, the pain is the point — to get people to stop using fossil fuels.

From Fox Business:

According to Yardeni Research, increased oil costs suggest the average American household will pay almost $2,000 more for gasoline in 2022, according to a March research note.

“In addition, we estimate that the average household is currently spending at least $1,000 [according to a seasonally adjusted annual rate] more on food as a result of rapidly rising grocery prices,” Edward Yardeni, the president of the firm, wrote on LinkedIn. “That’s $3,000 less money that households have to spend on other consumer goods and services, which also are experiencing rapid price increases.”

I’m inclined to think that might be a conservative estimate, particularly as everything continues to rise.

CNN: “ECONOMIC ANXIETY.”

“Gas prices hitting a new nominal record…this comes as prices for everything from groceries to plane tickets continue to rise.” pic.twitter.com/H1Ztvx9L9H

— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) May 10, 2022

Here’s a reminder at the beginning of this video about how Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer chastised President Donald Trump for gas prices back in 2018 when the average was under $3.00 (although Schumer was standing in front of a sign that had a higher price). Schumer was calling on him to do something, saying that “mostly it was the president” who held the cards so that’s why they were pressuring him to do something.

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, it was under $3.00 for Trump’s entire term and even dipped under $2.00 in 2020. Notice how silent Schumer is now about pressuring Joe Biden.
