Rand Paul: ‘I’m 100% Confident that Fauci Lied to Us’

Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) spoke on his latest evidence regarding the origins of COVID-19.

According to Paul, evidence indicates that former National Institution of Allergy and Infectious Disease Dr. Anthony Fauci had lied about how the virus came to be.

“I’m 100% confident that Fauci lied to us and that they were doing dangerous research there,” he said. “I would say all of the evidence I have seen so far points towards it coming from a lab. And it all adds together, and proximity makes a difference. The fact that the lab is within walking distance of where most of the coronaviruses of the world, the largest collection of coronaviruses in the world is within walking distance of where this started — yes, there’s too many coincidences to add up. But there is also evidence that this virus, COVID-19, is the product of something that was being developed and experimented upon. A group in Wuhan actually asked our Defense Department for money and said they wanted to take a coronavirus, like COVID, and put something in it to make it more infectious. It’s called a furin cleavage site. It’s not found in nature, and that’s exactly what COVID turned out to be.”

“So, this is a — this is a mystery, it’s a mystery with a cover-up,” Paul continued. “We’ve now found that American universities have given money to military research in China. And we are going to get to the bottom of this. But there’s a massive cover-up going on, and the lead in all of the cover-up has been Fauci. We now have information that he’s still working for the government, even though he says he’s retired. And it is my belief that he is worried about being indicted, and so he continues to work so he will get legal protection under the federal government. But this is wrong on every level of it, and we are going to get to the bottom of it. We are sending a letter to find out what the actual status of his employment is. Is he retired? Is he still getting a federal detail? So, there is a lot of stuff going on, but at the top of this, at top of every sort of concern we have, is Tony Fauci.”

Trump: DeSantis Would Be Working in a ‘Pizza Parlor’ Without His 2018 Endorsement

During an appearance on FNC’s “Hannity,” former President Donald Trump boasted about his endorsement of his possible 2024 Republican presidential opponent Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in the 2018 Florida gubernatorial race.

Trump endorsed DeSantis over then-Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam in the 2018 Florida Republican gubernatorial primary, which is thought to have propelled  DeSantis to the Republican Party nomination.

“I said, ‘You write out what you’d like and let me see it,’” Trump said. “He wrote it out. I thought it was terrible. I changed it, made it great, and I gave him a great endorsement. From the moment I pressed that button, he blew the guy away. The race was over.”.

Trump also credited himself partly for DeSantis’ victory over the 2018 Democratic Party nominee, then-Tallahassee, FL Mayor Andrew Gillum.

“And there was no way Ron was going to beat Gillum,” he added. “So he got the nomination. But there was no way because this guy was going to be the future of the Democrat Party. And I said, ‘Ron, you can beat this guy. Let’s go.’”

According to Trump, without his help, the Florida governor would have a different occupation.

“I got him the nomination,” he said. “By the way, he could have never gotten the nomination. He would be working in either a pizza parlor place or a law office right now. OK?”

Cruz: Trump Indictment a ‘Political Persecution’

Tuesday on FNC’s “Hannity,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) questioned the merits of the effort of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to indict former President Donald Trump.

Cruz called the effort a political persecution and said the charge was “bogus.”

“Listen, the long and short of it is, this indictment, if it comes this week is absolutely outrageous,” he said. “It is frivolous. It is baseless. It is a political persecution. It is not a prosecution. It is targeting Donald Trump because Alvin Bragg is a left-wing Democrat who hates Donald Trump, and legally, this case is absurd on its face.”

“Now, it’s all based on two New York statutes that concern business records, the kind of records you keep in your business,” Cruz continued. “One makes it a misdemeanor to create a false or fraudulent business record. In this instance, what Bragg is trying to argue is that when Trump gave $130,000 to Michael Cohen, who allegedly paid it to Stormy Daniels as hush money, and he characterized that as legal fees, that business record was false and bogus.”

“Now, he’s got a problem with that theory, which is under New York state law, that’s only a misdemeanor,” he said. “That has a two-year statute of limitations, so you can’t even bring this claim now. So, Bragg has the second thing he has to do, which he has to bootstrap that into a different New York statute, which makes it a felony if you create a false business record in the aid of commission and of another crime, and presumably, that other crime is some sort of Federal Elections Commission violations. Now, the FEC refused to bring that case, the Department of Justice refused to bring that case, the Southern District of New York, Department of Justice refused to bring that case.”

“Bob Mueller and the Mueller investigation refused to bring that case,” Cruz added. “But Alvin Bragg is going to try to bring a case on a theory. You know, they tried it with John Edwards. Remember John Edwards? The Democrat senator who ran for president had an affair and then gave hush money to his mistress. They tried to prosecute him on this theory. The case got thrown out of court. This is ridiculous. It is bogus and pure partisan attack from a partisan DA.”
