Two days after a transsexual slaughtered 6 Christians, Democratic Rep. Katherine Clark says trans community ‘is being forced to fight for its very existence’

March 30, 2023 by Joseph MacKinnon Leave a Comment

Just days after six Christians were murdered in a brutal school shooting by a female transsexual, Democratic Rep. Katherine Clark of Massachusetts gave a speech honoring the trans “community,” which she claimed “is being forced to fight for its very existence.”

Beyond honoring transsexuals, Clark, who serves as Democratic whip in the House, also denounced those who stand in the way of the full execution of the transsexual agenda, including the very groups ostensibly targeted in the Nashville shooting.

‘Not one tragedy but two’

In the aftermath of the Covenant School shooting, a number of LGBT activists and trans advocacy groups vilified Republicans, religious institutions, and others. In a number of instances, they appeared keen to displace blame from the transsexual woman who murdered three children and three adults.

The LGBT lobby group Human Rights Campaign noted in its response to the atrocity, “We still don’t know all of the facts about what happened in Nashville. We do know that every study available shows that transgender and non-binary people are much more likely to be the victims of violence, rather than the perpetrator of it.”

TheBlaze previously reported that Madonna had decided in the aftermath of the shooting that it was an opportune time to state, “The oppression of the LGBTQ+ is not only unacceptable and inhumane; it’s creating an unsafe environment,” suggesting that it’s becoming particularly unsafe for transsexuals.

The geriatric musician also announced she would perform in Nashville, with proceeds going to “trans rights” groups.

The Trans Resistance Network said in a statement that the incident in Nashville “is not one tragedy, but two,” intimating that the child-killer should similarly be mourned.

The group also suggested that recent policies (i.e., Republican legislation protecting children from genital mutilations and hormone therapies) and criticisms of the trans agenda together amounted to a “genocidal eradication of trans people from society” and were at least partly to blame for the massacre.

The Trans Resistance Network went so far as to threaten, “Hate has consequences.”

More polarizing rhetoric

Clark, whose “trans” son was charged in January for assaulting a police officer, echoed much of the activist groups’ rhetoric in her speech Thursday in Congress.

The Massachusetts Democrat said that to stand in the way of transsexuals’ happiness “is to stand against our most basic American values. But that’s exactly what MAGA extremists are doing across this country — on school boards, in state Capitols, here in the halls of Congress.”

Evincing no sense of irony, Clark claimed that Republicans are “waging an especially vicious crusade on our kids,” adding members of the trans community have been subjected to “cruelty” by “right-wing extremists.”

“Let’s reject the forces of opposition and bigotry,” said Clark. “Let’s celebrate the bravery and beauty of our trans community.”

Clark quoted a letter from a mother to her transitioning daughter, saying, “I know your strength, but I also know how determined the forces are that have pitted themselves against you, the politicians and preachers who would rather see you languish in a dark closet.”

At no point in the speech did Clark mention the Nashville shooting or the lives — including that of a preacher’s daughter — claimed therein.

Clark was recently in the news after her son Jared Dowell, 23, was charged with assault and battery on a Boston police officer inflicting serious bodily injury, vandalizing a historic monument, damaging property by tagging, and resisting arrest.

TheBlaze reported that Dowell, whom his mother refers to as a daughter named “Riley,” allegedly left an officer “bleeding from his nose and mouth.”

Police had attempted to arrest the Democrat’s son after they caught him allegedly vandalizing a monument with anti-police slogans.

Jared Dowell is not the only person in the family fond of provocative rhetoric.

While silent on the topic of transsexual child-killers, Clark has been a loud critic of her Republican colleagues in the House, calling them “extremists.”

The Democratic whip reiterated this claim on St. Patrick’s Day, stating, “The extremists are running it,” in reference to the House Republicans and their majority in Congress.

Rep. Jim Jordan demands answers from IRS after it sent an agent to Twitter Files journalist’s home in an apparent ‘effort to intimidate a witness’

March 28, 2023 by Joseph MacKinnon Leave a Comment

A prominent independent journalist who has worked doggedly to expose government overreach online received an unexpected visit from the Internal Revenue Service earlier this month. The IRS happened to darken Matt Taibbi’s doorstep the same day he testified before Congress about the weaponization of the federal government.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) is demanding accountability as it pertains to this apparent statist “attempt to intimidate a witness before Congress.”

What’s the background?

Taibbi has been instrumental in the curation and publication of the Twitter Files, which have served to expose the exertion of control by the federal government over speech and information online in recent years.

In one instance, he detailed the “constant and pervasive” communications between Twitter and the FBI concerning what narratives to quash and what claims to censor. He also documented the efforts of California Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff’s office to silence the free press and remove unfavorable content on the platform.

On March 9, Taibbi testified before the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.

The purpose of the committee, according to its chairman, Rep. Jordan, is to investigate recent violations of Americans’ First Amendment rights by the federal government as well as the Biden administration’s apparent bias against conservatives.

Taibbi told the committee that whereas the “original promise of the internet was that it might democratize the exchange of information globally … what we found is in the [Twitter] files was a sweeping effort to reverse that promise and use machine learning and other tools to turn the internet into an instrument of censorship and social control. Unfortunately, our own government appears to be playing a lead role.”

TheBlaze previously reported that Democrats on the subcommittee were highly adversarial with Taibbi present. In addition to belittling Taibbi and intimating that he was involved in sexcapades with his peers, House Democrats, including Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-Texas), pressured the journalist to reveal his sources.

An emissary with impeccable timing

While Democrats impotently attacked Taibbi during the hearing, other elements of the political establishment reportedly prepared to make their power known.

According to Jordan, an IRS agent turned up at Taibbi’s New Jersey home on the day of the hearing, “unannounced and unprompted.” The agent reportedly left a note instructing Taibbi to call the IRS days later.

When Taibbi spoke to the agent, he was told “that both his 2018 and 2021 tax returns had been rejected owing to concerns over identity theft.”

Taibbi reportedly provided the committee with evidence that his 2018 return had been electronically accepted and that there had previously been no word of trouble about his tax filings.

“When did the IRS start to dispatch agents for surprise house calls? Typically when the IRS challenges some part of a tax return, it sends a dunning letter. Or it might seek more information from the taxpayer or tax preparer. If the IRS wants to audit a return, it schedules a meeting at the agent’s office. It doesn’t drop by unannounced,” wrote the Wall Street Journal’s editorial board.

“The curious timing of this visit, on the heels of the FTC demand that Twitter turn over names of journalists, raises questions about potential intimidation,” the editorial board added.

Twitter CEO Elon Musk responded, noting, “That’s very odd.”

None

— (@)

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) reckoned it was more than odd, tweeting, “This absolutely stinks to high heaven. The IRS has a troubling history of targeting the political enemies of Democrats. The IRS should NEVER be in the business of harassing the American people.”

Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, responded, “Gangster government.”

Auditing the auditors

Rep. Jim Jordan penned a letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel Monday demanding answers about what he indicated “could be interpreted as an attempt to intimidate a witness before Congress.”

Jordan noted that this interpretation may be apt in light of the “IRS’s history as a tool of government abuse” — citing its hounding of conservatives during the Obama administration” — and the “hostile reaction to Mr. Taibbi’s reporting among left-wing activists.”

The subcommittee chairman requested that Yellen and Werfel provide all IRS, Treasury, or executive branch documents and communications pertaining to the IRS’ field visit to Taibbi’s residence as well as to the journalist himself by April 10.

Concerning Jordan’s push for accountability concerning these “incredible” circumstances, the Wall Street Journal editorial board wrote, “Mr. Jordan is right to want to see documents and communications relating to the Taibbi visit. The fear of many Americans is that, flush with its new $80 billion in funding from Congress, the IRS will unleash its fearsome power against political opponents. Mr. Taibbi deserves to know why the agency decided to pursue him with a very strange house call.”

Taibbi tweeted on Monday, “For those asking, I don’t want to comment on the IRS issue pending an answer to chairman @Jim_Jordan’s letter. I’m not worried for myself, but I did feel the Committee should be aware of the situation.”

Jon Stewart notes alarming fact about how Congress works behind closed doors: ‘Like an assisted-living facility’

March 27, 2023 by Chris Enloe Leave a Comment

Comedian Jon Stewart compared the United States Senate to an “assisted living facility” on Sunday, highlighting the alarming way in which Congress functions behind closed doors.

Stewart has spent an extensive amount of time on Capitol Hill advocating for veterans and 9/11 first responders; thus he has seen personally how the legislative process works.

What did Stewart say?

While lawmakers get the accolades and spotlight, Stewart told CNN host Fareed Zakaria that lawmakers are like “wind-up dolls” whose staffers are responsible for keeping Congress functional.

“All those different things doing in Washington over these past few years gave me a great understanding of how things actually get done,” he began.

“Our country is held together by hundreds of really talented legislative aides. Their bosses, many times, are wind-up dolls who really don’t know, I mean, half of it,” Stewart added. “If you go down there — especially the Senate is like an assisted-living facility.

“It’s held together by these legislative aides that are relentlessly trying to do the right thing, and by the thousands of grassroots activists that are trying to get access and they’re blocked by a moat of lobbyists and moneyed interests that prevent the people in [Congress] from doing the work that best benefits all the people outside of that building. And that’s the process,” he explained.

Jon Stewart: This is why Trump became popular in the first placeyoutu.be

Interestingly, when Zakaria seemingly tried to get Stewart to criticize Republican aides — suggesting that working with Republicans is more difficult than Democrats — Stewart did not take the bait.

“They’re honest. Look, if you can find honest brokers down there, you can work with them,” Stewart said. “What I’m saying is that force field around it is made up of not honest brokers. It’s moneyed interests. It’s lobbyists.”

When Zakaria clarified whether that meant Stewart believed he could work with “very conservative Republicans,” Stewart was unequivocal.

“Of course. People of good faith,” he said. “Now there were huge disagreements about certain things, but when you found someone of good faith, you could always get something done.”

‘What a coincidence!’: Ocasio-Cortez goes to bat for TikTok after its Chinese-owned parent company dumps cash into Democrat-aligned nonprofits

March 27, 2023 by Joseph MacKinnon Leave a Comment

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) posted her first video to TikTok over the weekend in support of the controversial platform. In the video, Ocasio-Cortez claimed that its ban, which House Speaker Kevin McCarthy indicated was aimed at protecting Americans from the genocidal Chinese regime, would be “unprecedented.”

The New York Democrat’s belated support for and interest in TikTok has raised eyebrows, particularly in light of new reports that its Chinese-owned parent company dumped $150,000 into the Hispanic Congressional Caucus Foundation just a few months ago.

The app

TikTok has over 150 million monthly users in the United States. Its parent company, ByteDance, is based in Beijing.

The Washington Post reported that the Chinese communist regime acquired a stake in ByteDance in 2021 and one of three seats on its board. Beyond this direct state involvement, ByteDance is also liable to give up whatever data Beijing wants.

The Chinese regime passed a law in 2017 that requires “any organization” to assist or cooperate with state intelligence work. A 2014 counter-espionage law states “relevant organizations … may not refuse” to collect evidence on behalf of the state, reported the Associated Press.

Since there are no limits on the regime’s power or control inside China, the communists can effectively take or access whatever data they desire, regardless of the complicity of companies like ByteDance at the outset.

In addition to the potential capture of sensitive data by America’s preeminent adversary, the Australian Senate Select Committee on Foreign Interference through Social Media recently put out a report noting that less discussed but similarly impactful is how TikTok “provides Beijing with the latent capability to weaponize the platform by suppressing, amplifying, and otherwise calibrating narratives in ways that micro-target political constituencies abroad.”

PBS reported that TikTok has previously clamped down on mentions of the Tiananmen Square massacre and images unfavorable to the Chinese regime in 2019.

TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew told a bipartisan House committee Thursday that ByteDance “is not an agent of China.”

Democrats and Republicans alike are evidently not convinced.

The ban

After Chew’s testimony, Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.), the chair of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, said, “It’s not just exfiltrating data from an American phone. It’s what they are able to push to Americans through the algorithm, control our sense of reality, control the news and meddle in future elections.”

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R), chairwoman of the Committee on Energy and Commerce, said, “TikTok is a weapon by the Chinese Communist Party to spy on you, manipulate what you see and exploit for future generations.”

Secretary of State Antony Blinken told lawmakers last week that TikTok was a threat to the U.S. and that it “should be ended one way or another.”

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R) announced on Sunday that the “House will be moving forward with legislation to protect Americans from the technological tentacles of the Chinese Communist Party.”

Birds of a feather

China’s foreign ministry apparatchik Mao Ning said Monday, “U.S. should respect fair competition, and stop suppressing foreign companies.”

Ocasio-Cortez similarly spoke out against the potential ban and did so on the potentially compromised and compromising social media platform, reported The Hill.

“This is not only my first TikTok, but it is a TikTok about TikTok,” Ocasio-Cortez says in the video, adding, “Do I believe TikTok should be banned? No.”

Ocasio-Cortez continued, saying, “I think it’s important to discuss how unprecedented of a move this would be. The United States has never before banned a social media company from existence, from operating in our borders. … And this is an app that has over 150 million Americans on it.”

The New York Democrat suggested that the “solution here is not to ban an individual company — but to actually protect Americans from this kind of egregious data harvesting that companies can do without your significant ability to say no.”

“Usually when the United States is proposing a very major move, that has something to do with significant risk to national security, one of the first things that happens is that Congress receives a classified briefing,” said Ocasio-Cortez.

Having allegedly not been briefed on the national security threat TikTok poses, Ocasio-Cortez added, “So why would we be proposing a ban regarding such a significant issue without being included on this at all? It just doesn’t feel right to me.”

Ocasio-Cortez reiterated on Twitter, “Banning TikTok isn’t the solution to data privacy concerns. Instead, Congress needs to focus on regulating social media companies’ unchecked habit of collecting user data without their consent.”

150,000 reasons not to ban TikTok

Kyle Bass, the founder of Conservation Equity Management, tweeted in response to Ocasio-Cortez’s late defense of TikTok, “The TikTok Digital Trojan Horse…constructed by Xi himself. It’s so obvious what the CPC is doing…who knows which lobbyist got to the former bartender?”

None

— (@)

Fox News Digital had an answer ready to Bass’ question, having reported that ByteDance donated $150,000 both to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute in December.

Jake Denton of the Heritage Foundation noted on Twitter that “AOC is a member of the CHCI advisory council,” adding, “What a coincidence!”

Altif Brown, co-founder of Constellation Network, noted that Ocasio-Cortez neglected the fact that TikTok could be banned and social media networks simultaneously regulated: “These things are not mutually exclusive: We can and should promote regulation around data privacy and invest in infrastructure that can guarantee it. AND Protect our citizens (and allies) from data harvesting done by hostile actors.”

American Foreign Policy Council fellow Michael Sobolik suggested Ocasio-Cortez’s video “echos TikTok’s talking points and ignores the app’s true threat: CCP-directed disinformation.”

“Extremely on brand for her to turn this into a ‘data privacy’ & social media issue, leave out the info control & influence argument, not factor in decades of documented CCP history and present a dumb case in a way that will resonate with her base,” wrote Sar Haribhakti, an economics professor at the University of Rochester.

Gun control activists tangle with Capitol Police during House Judiciary hearing, prompting congressman to ask, ‘Is this an insurrection?’

March 24, 2023 by Joseph MacKinnon Leave a Comment

Gun control activists swarmed the Capitol on Thursday, disrupting a congressional hearing concerning possible efforts made by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to curb Americans’ Second Amendment rights.

The Capitol Police indicated that they had given protesters who had been illegally blocking traffic outside the Capitol multiple warnings to clear the street. Seven individuals who failed to do so were charged with crowding, obstructing, or incommoding.

Gun control activists also threw a fit inside the Capitol, shouting through a hearing entitled “ATF’s Assault on the Second Amendment,” held by a subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee, reported Reuters.

One of the activists yelled, “All of you are full of s***,” reported the Washington Examiner.

Rep. Pat Fallon (R-Texas), who together with Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) called the joint hearing, instructed police to remove an unruly woman who had accused committee members of taking her son away.

Fallon then read a statement, saying, “The committee welcomes the public to this meeting. We have people on both sides of the aisle … not only up here, but in the audience, that have differing opinions. While you are welcome here, I want to point out to the members and to the audience in attendance today, House Rule 11 provides that the chairman of the committee may punish breaches of order and decorum by censure and exclusion from the hearing.”

Activists evidently chose to ignore the chairman’s warning and continued to interfere with the hearing, prompting Fallon to wonder aloud, “Is this an insurrection? … I don’t want another January 6, do we?”

Fallon asked, “Does the Capitol Police not do their jobs? What in the hell is going on?” ahead of calling a recess.

None

— (@)

Capitol Police indicated that one of the activists, Manuel Oliver, was arrested after he disrupted a hearing, refused to stop shouting, and then attempted to go back inside the hearing room.

Oliver’s arrest was caught on camera:

None

— (@)

The Miami Herald reported that Oliver was not put in jail and his wife, Patricia — the other agitator who had disrupted the hearing with him — was not arrested.

The Olivers’ son Joaquin was among the 17 killed in the Parkland mass shooting.

While Patricia Oliver blamed the subcommittee for her son’s death during the Thursday hearing, Nikolas Cruz was found guilty of the boy’s murder. In the way of displaced blame, the FBI had received a tip about Cruz’s “desire to kill people, erratic behavior, and disturbing social media posts, as well as the potential of him conducting a school shooting” prior to the shooting, but had failed to follow up, reported NBC News.

Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.), on the subcommittee, who previously noted that he “felt so much anger” during the “January 6th insurrection,” sided with those who were told to leave the Capitol.

Frost claimed on Twitter that Fallon “completely escalated the situation” and “should’ve given a warning.”

It is unclear whether Frost misheard the Republican chair when he gave the activists a clear warning.

Police told the Washington Post, “Anyone who disrupts a congressional hearing and disregards a law enforcement officer’s orders to stop are going to be arrested.”

Fallon and Biggs had called the hearing to examine the ATF actions “aimed at curtailing the ability of lawful gun owners to exercise their Second Amendment rights.”

The congressmen said in a joint statement, “The Biden Administration is weaponizing the ATF to advance a left-wing gun control agenda without regard for fundamental fairness or constitutional rights.”

“The ATF has engaged in a host of practices that seek to curtail the ability of lawful gun owners to exercise their Second Amendment rights,” added Fallon and Biggs. “Because of the ATF’s final rule, millions of lawful gun owners will be required to obtain a special registration, surrender, or destroy their stabilizing brace by the compliance date or will face severe criminal penalties merely as a result of this regulatory change.”
